Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Daniel

"Nidorino, Poison Sting!"

The purple needles flew out, only to be intercepted by Heracross's Bullet Seed.

Using this opening, Nidorino dashed toward Heracross and unleashed Iron Tail.

The metallic sheen of the attack gleamed as it swung forward, but Heracross managed to block it with Night Slash.

Even with Heracross's remarkable strength, its arms throbbed with pain from the impact.

"Now, use Flamethrower!"

Ron's voice rang out, not giving Heracross a moment to breathe.

A blazing column of fire surged forward, raising the temperature around Nidorino significantly.

As a Bug-type Pokémon, Heracross instinctively recoiled from the flames and began to beat its wings to escape.

"Nidorino, Thunderbolt!"

Before the fiery heat could dissipate, electric currents gathered at the tip of Nidorino's horn.

The crackling orange-yellow lightning struck Heracross mid-air, bringing it crashing back to the ground.

"Nidorino, Flamethrower!"

The searing flames surged again, engulfing Heracross.

"Finish it off with Ice Beam!"

After taking successive hits from Thunderbolt and Flamethrower, Heracross couldn't dodge the incoming attack.

The clash of heat and cold finally brought Heracross down, leaving it defeated on the ground.

With the victory, Nidorino edged closer to level 21, nearing the point where it would surpass Kirlia in level.

As for their true strength, Ron wasn't entirely sure—but Kirlia likely held the upper hand. Psychic powers, after all, often defied logic.

Following his routine, Ron began treating Heracross. Meanwhile, Kirlia, using its Telepathy, detected someone approaching along with their Pokémon.

After administering a quick treatment, Ron instructed Machamp to use Shave to carry Heracross away as quickly as possible. He simultaneously heightened his guard.

"Hey! Are you a Trainer?"

"I'm Daniel from Moonshade Village nearby. Could you battle me?!"

Emerging from the forest, Daniel excitedly addressed Ron.

Normally, when Trainers meet during their travels, they tend to be cautious of one another at first.

It was rare to encounter someone like Daniel, who charged straight into Machamp's attack range and eagerly issued a battle challenge.

Of course, Ash and the Trainers he meets don't count—they're a league of their own.

"Sure, my Pokémon is Nidorino, currently at level 20."

After Kirlia confirmed through telepathy that Daniel had no ill intent, Ron accepted the challenge.

Nidorino needed to battle to improve anyway, so this was a good opportunity to gain some experience.

"Great! My Pokémon is Heracross, level 21."

"Sorry, my Heracross is a level higher than your Nidorino. You can switch to another Pokémon if you like."

"Oh, and by the way, my Heracross is from the Johto region! It must be your first time seeing one, right?"

Releasing his Pokémon, Daniel spoke enthusiastically while his Heracross struck various poses to show off its muscles.

"No problem. As for Heracross, I actually encountered one earlier, so I'm not too surprised."

In contrast to Daniel's excitement, Ron, who had much more experience battling other Trainers, remained calm.

"Alright then, I'll take the first move!"

"Heracross, use Night Slash and charge forward!"

According to standard Trainer battle rules, the Pokémon with the lower level gets the first move during wild encounters.

If both are the same level, the Trainers decide through negotiation. Daniel, however, clearly didn't know this, and Ron didn't bother correcting him.

"Nidorino, use Wide Flamethrower!"

In addition to training his Pokémon in Six Powers, Ron never neglected their mastery of moves.

For instance, Nidorino had trained to expand the range of its Flamethrower, creating a wide area of effect.

Though it slightly reduced the move's power, it effectively hindered the movement of speed-focused Pokémon.

Flames roared to life, forcing Heracross to halt its charge.

"Heracross, take to the air and use Bullet Seed!"

"Nidorino, Thunderbolt!"

Electricity surged, forming jagged snakes of energy that tore through the seeds and struck Heracross mid-flight.

"Heracross, use Aerial Ace!"

Daniel's command rang out, and Heracross deftly maneuvered, dodging the electricity while launching itself toward Nidorino.

Seemingly stunned by the sudden attack, neither Ron nor Nidorino reacted, leaving them open.

"Now, Heracross, full-force charge!"

Failing to notice the trap, Daniel urged Heracross to intensify its assault.

"Now, Counter!"

A red glow enveloped Nidorino as it absorbed the attack head-on. Moments later, the Counter exploded in a scarlet beam that struck Heracross.

"Nidorino, Flamethrower!"

As Heracross staggered back, Ron commanded a follow-up attack.

The intense flames hit Heracross directly.

"Let's finish this, Nidorino! Flamethrower Barrage!"

A continuous stream of fire engulfed Heracross, aiming to end the battle decisively.

"Get up, Heracross! Use Megahorn!"

Daniel's voice cut through the flames, reigniting Heracross's determination.

With its Swarm ability activated, Heracross's Bug-type moves became five times more powerful as its HP dropped below a third.

It unleashed Megahorn, breaking through the flames with a single strike.

Using this brief respite, Heracross took to the skies.

"Let's go, Heracross! Megahorn!"

"Nidorino, Hyper Beam!"

Both commands echoed simultaneously.

Heracross descended with incredible speed, aiming to deliver a crushing blow.

Meanwhile, Nidorino struggled to charge the powerful Hyper Beam.

Though it wasn't easy for a level 20 Nidorino to use such a move, the timing was critical.

Just as Heracross closed in, the orange beam of energy finally surged forth.

Despite not unleashing its full power, the Hyper Beam was more than Heracross could handle in its weakened state.

The beam struck true, sending Heracross spiraling to the ground like a downed aircraft.
