Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Battle with Blaine

"Hahaha! It's been a long time since we've had a challenger. How about we have a good old three-on-three Pokémon battle today?"

Even Blaine himself, not just the staff outside, became excited and filled with battle spirit upon finally seeing a challenger.

"I've got no problem with that. Please, let's battle," Ron replied without hesitation.

Right now, Persian was in need of as much battle experience as possible to reach a breakthrough, making Blaine's suggestion perfect for Ron's needs.

The only thing Ron didn't understand was why the referee on the sidelines was wearing sunglasses—was he afraid of being blinded by flames?

Noticing Ron's gaze, the referee, after announcing the start of the battle, took out a wooden stick, found an empty spot with a bit of fumbling, and sat on a small stool.

"Sorry about that. It's hard to find decent referees here, so I had to make do with this blind gentleman," Blaine said with a chuckle.

"Well then, my first Pokémon will be this one!"

A flash of white light revealed Blaine's Rapidash, which appeared on the battlefield in a burst of fiery splendor.

Shaking off the uneasy feeling of potentially being judged unfairly, Ron released his first Pokémon without hesitation.

"Persian, let's start the battle! Finger Pistol: Radiant Flash!"

Using Shave to move at high speed, Persian rushed forward.

As the radiant glow of Power Gem illuminated the battlefield, both Rapidash and Blaine instinctively closed their eyes.

However, Blaine quickly reacted, ordering Rapidash to use Fire Spin to encase itself in flames and block Persian's advance.

Persian, however, was unshaken. Back on the training island, there had been plenty of Fire-type Pokémon that used similar defensive strategies against Persian's attacks.

Tearing through the flames, Persian charged directly at Rapidash.

Sensing danger, Rapidash instinctively opened its eyes, only to see a cold flash before its vision blurred.

"Persian, Finger Pistol: Blink Slash!"

Ron's command echoed through the battlefield just as Rapidash let out a painful cry, which was abruptly cut short.

Two swift and precise attacks left deep, bloody gashes on Rapidash's sides. The gap in levels, combined with Persian's powerful attacks, caused Rapidash to faint from the pain, unable to continue the battle.

"Come back, Rapidash. You've done well."

"I wasn't expecting a challenger with such strength after such a long time. Let's see how you handle this one! Go, Ninetales!"

"Persian, Finger Pistol: Blink Slash!"

Compared to Rapidash, Blaine's Ninetales was Level 46. Though still lower in level than Persian, Blaine had absolute confidence in its abilities.

"Ninetales, use Fire Blast Combo!"

At Blaine's command, the nine tails of Ninetales stood upright, fiery energy gathering and blending with its psychic power to create nine flames circling around it.

Ninetales released its latent psychic abilities, scanning for Persian's movements. The moment Persian's position was detected, the flames attacked with incredible speed.

Although Ninetales, a Fire-type Pokémon, had mastered several Psychic-type moves, giving it an edge in versatility, Persian's agility proved too much.

Despite Ninetales' efforts, it failed to land a hit, with Persian's speed outmatching its attacks.

Persian darted through the flames with incredible precision. As the constant flame generation began to drain Ninetales' stamina, Blaine began to sweat nervously.

A sudden cold flash cut through the battlefield, sending Ninetales flying, blood trailing through the air.

"Persian, Finger Pistol: Instant Slash!"

Ninetales, now covered in wounds, collapsed onto the ground, unable to continue.

The sheer power of Persian's attacks, bolstered by its technique and Ron's training, was simply too much for the lower-leveled Ninetales to handle.

"Come back, Ninetales. It's your turn, Magmar!"

Blaine released his Level 51 Magmar, hoping to turn the tide of battle. Confident in Magmar's strength and his understanding of Persian's tactics, Blaine sought to regain control.

"Magmar, use Smokescreen!"

Learning from his previous mistakes, Blaine refrained from ordering a direct attack, choosing instead to observe Persian's movements carefully.

"Persian, use Nasty Plot!"

Perhaps influenced by Blaine's cautious approach, Ron decided to power up Persian's Special Attack rather than launching an immediate attack.

"Magmar, Clear Smog!"

Uncertain of Ron's plans, Blaine instinctively sought to disrupt Persian's stat boosts.

"Persian, Shave: Phantom Shadow!"

Combining Shave with Double Team, Persian created numerous shadowy clones that dodged Clear Smog and closed in on Magmar.

"Magmar, Heat Wave!"

As Blaine's voice echoed, Magmar stomped on the ground with force. The Heat Wave, combined with the swirling Fire Spin, rapidly expanded into a sea of flames, spreading wildly in all directions.

Under the searing blaze, one shadow of Persian after another shattered into nothingness.

Both Blaine and Magmar kept their eyes glued to their surroundings, vigilant against any sudden ambush by Persian.

Just like the assassin-like path Persian had chosen, without mastering techniques like Iron Body or Paper Art, Persian was essentially a high-offense, low-defense assassin.

If Magmar found an opening, Persian could easily be taken down in a single blow.

"Persian, Finger Pistol: Radiant Flash!"

Ron's voice suddenly rang out, and to Magmortar's left, a dazzling light erupted.

"Magmar, Fire Blast!"

The raging flames gathered into the shape of a blazing kanji character 大, hurtling toward the source of the radiant light.

However, wary that this could be a feint by Persian, Blaine refrained from commanding Magmar to use a more powerful skill combination.

"Persian, Shave: Blink Slash!"

Seizing the brief moment of vulnerability after Magmar unleashed its move, Persian sprang into action under Ron's command.

With lightning speed, it moved rapidly, appearing right in front of Magmar in the blink of an eye.

"Now! Magmar, use Heat Wave!"

"Persian, Hypnosis!"

The commands from both sides resounded almost simultaneously. Under the effect of Hypnosis, Magmar's movements inevitably slowed.

Taking advantage of this brief pause, Persian finally had a chance to catch its breath.

Unleashing such explosive speed in an instant was no small burden for Persian, but fortunately, the battle was still progressing according to Ron's strategy.

"Persian, Finger Pistol: Shadow Claw Storm!"

Black shadow claws appeared, closing in on the groggy Magmar, ready to deliver a finishing blow.
