Pokemon: Ace's Adventures!

Chapter 56: Chapter 56:A Gunshot!?

Ace looked at the looming Aerodactyl in the air, a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead. This Aerodactyl was clearly stronger than the one in the anime. His eyes flickered toward Hunter J, who remained atop her Salamence. She had used a Full Restore, bringing Salamence back to near peak health and removing its poison. Clicking his tongue in frustration, Ace quickly healed Nidoking with a Hyper Potion and released Dratini and Scizor for support while keeping his other battle-ready Pokémon in reserve.

Meanwhile, Ash's Charmeleon stood beside Squirtle and Bulbasaur, guarding the rescued Pokémon. Without warning, Charmeleon fired a Flamethrower at Aerodactyl, but the ancient Pokémon casually blocked it with its wings, taking no visible damage. Aerodactyl cackled mockingly at Charmeleon before scanning the battlefield and letting out another taunting cry, calling all the Pokémon weak and insignificant.

Most of the Pokémon took offense, except for the rescued ones and a few others like the girls' Pokémon and Brock's. Then, suddenly, Charmeleon and Dratini were enveloped in bright light.

Ace and Ash's eyes widened in shock as both Pokémon evolved! In place of Charmeleon now stood a Charizard, roaring and immediately taking to the skies, while Ash futilely shouted for it to wait. Dragonair remained grounded, visibly angered by Aerodactyl but awaiting Ace's command.

Ace, however, was too excited to care about Charizard's disobedience. He immediately pulled out his Pokédex to scan Dragonair.

[Name: Dragonair, the Dragon Pokémon.

Ace's jaw nearly dropped. 'Seven new moves?!' His Dratini had already hit the genetic jackpot with powerful Egg Moves, and now, upon evolving, it had gained four weather-altering moves and three Dragon-type attacks. 'This luck is ridiculous…'

Shaking his head, he pushed the thoughts aside and focused. "Dragonair, use Dragon Rush!"

Dragonair roared elegantly, shrouding itself in draconic energy as it soared through the air, engaging alongside Charizard. Charizard, still ignoring Ash, recklessly spammed Flamethrower, but it barely fazed Aerodactyl. Growing bored, Aerodactyl retaliated with Ancient Power, sending Charizard plummeting to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, Dragonair struck with Dragon Rush, but the attack barely did anything before Aerodactyl countered with a powerful Wing Attack, sending Dragonair flying.

Meanwhile, Hunter J commanded Salamence to intercept Aerodactyl, but Nidoking stepped forward, blocking its path. Ace smirked. "Nidoking, don't let them near Aerodactyl."

Nidoking roared in agreement, meeting Salamence's challenge head-on.

Hunter J snarled and ordered her Garchomp to assist, but Garchomp was already locked in battle with Smeargle. Their clashes sent shockwaves through the battlefield—Garchomp's Brick Break met Smeargle's Iron Tail and Mega Punch head-on.

Frustrated, Hunter J commanded, "Salamence, use Dragon Rush!"

"Disable!" Ace countered.

Salamence's body froze mid-attack, its move suddenly unusable. Taking advantage of the opening, Nidoking grabbed Salamence's head and repeatedly slammed it into the ground with Thrash.

"Zen Headbutt!" Hunter J barked.

Salamence's glowing head smashed into Nidoking's stomach, forcing it to release its grip. Hunter J followed up. "Psychic Fangs!"

Salamence lunged, its jaws glowing with psychic energy.

"Earthquake—on the air!" Ace shouted.

Nidoking punched the air, blue energy cracks forming before Salamence. The force sent Salamence hurtling backward into a canyon wall.

Everyone watching was stunned. Ash gaped. "How did Nidoking use Earthquake in the air?!"

Gary, equally shocked, furrowed his brows. 'My Nidoking can't do that… No Pokémon has ever used Earthquake with their hands before! Does that change how the move works?'

Ace ignored them, focusing back on Aerodactyl, which was still relentlessly chasing Dragonair. "Dragonair, Draco Meteor!"

Dragonair conjured an enormous meteor in its mouth and fired it skyward. The meteor split into multiple fragments, raining down toward Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl roared and countered with a Hyper Beam, blasting the meteors apart.

At the same time, Charizard, having recovered, let out a deafening roar and flew at Aerodactyl, completely ignoring Ash's desperate commands.

Ace seized the moment. "Dragonair, Dragon Rush!"

Dragonair surged forward, enveloped in blue energy, while Charizard, cloaked in red flames, charged with Flare Blitz. Aerodactyl countered with Giga Impact, its body glowing white.

The sky became a battlefield, with blue, red, and white energy colliding in mid-air, sending powerful shockwaves that rivaled the ongoing clash between Nidoking's Earthquake and Salamence's Dragon Claw.

Meanwhile, Garchomp and Smeargle exchanged fierce blows—Dragon Pulse clashed against Stored Power, triggering a massive explosion.

Most of the trainers watching were speechless. Ace and Hunter J continued commanding their Pokémon with unwavering focus, but Ash was in a panic—his Charizard was completely out of control.

Suddenly, Smeargle howled, and enormous vines erupted from the ground, ensnaring Garchomp—Smeargle had used Frenzy Plant!

"Stored Power—Blizzard!" Ace commanded.

Smeargle unleashed a freezing storm, enhanced by its Stored Power. The entire battlefield was engulfed in a blizzard, and soon, a colossal glacier formed, rising above the canyon.

Hunter J cursed under her breath, recalling her frozen Garchomp. She clenched her teeth—her team was almost entirely knocked out, and Salamence was still locked in battle with Nidoking. Capturing Target Amber was no longer viable.

Her gaze then locked onto Ace. He was standing at the edge of the battlefield, focused on Dragonair's aerial battle. His Scizor had flown in the air to assist Dragonair who was getting a little overwhelmed.

A sinister gleam flashed in her eyes.

Without hesitation, she reached into her hidden pouch and pulled out a different gun—this one fired electric bullets. Taking aim, she fired.

The gunshot rang through the canyon.

Officer Jenny, who had just finished securing the grunts' Pokéballs, turned in shock. Ace staggered back, clutching his shoulder as blood seeped from a fresh wound. Though he had managed to dodge a fatal shot, the electric bullet still tore into his flesh, sending painful jolts through his body. His vision blurred as the shock overwhelmed his nerves.

He swayed before collapsing.

"ACE!!" Serena, May, Dawn, Ash, Gary, Brock, Misty, and Jenny all cried out in alarm.

Ace's Pokémon froze in shock before their expressions twisted in fury. Dragonair abandoned its fight and launched Aerodactyl toward Charizard, who took over battling it. Dragonair and Scizor then turned their rage on Hunter J.

Hunter J barely had time to react before Dragonair's tail slammed into her arm, dislocating it and knocking the gun from her grip. She shrieked in pain.

Scizor followed up with a swift, brutal punch to her face, knocking her unconscious with most of her teeth gone.

Nidoking, upon seeing Ace's bloody arm, let out a deafening roar of rage. Without hesitation, it grabbed Salamence and repeatedly pummeled it with Ice Punch, ignoring all of Salamence's attacks. Its arm glowed blue—it slammed Salamence's head into the ground with Earthquake, knocking it out.

Meanwhile, Jenny assessed Ace's condition. "His wound is severe—it hit his nerves! If we don't operate now, he'll lose his arm! Does anyone have any healing Pokémon?!"

"Clefable!" Dawn exclaimed. "Ace's Clefable is a healer!"

Jenny and May quickly retrieved Ace's Pokéball belt. With shaky hands, May released Clefable.

Seeing Ace's state, Clefable gasped in horror before immediately using Heal Pulse.

As Ace was being treated, a loud crash echoed across the battlefield—Charizard had been slammed to the ground, unconscious.

Aerodactyl landed, surveying the battlefield before its gaze settled on Ace.

It cackled.

The Pokémon understood its words—it had just called Ace weak… and its next meal.

Ace's Pokémon bristled in fury, ready to attack.

But then, something unexpected happened.

Smeargle, its eyes shadowed beneath its beret, let out a howl. The air trembled. It's aura changed colour as a crimson aura flared around its body, its eyes glowing red. It looked less like a Pokémon and more like a feral beast ready to kill.

With blinding speed, Smeargle shot forward, landing a devastating Mach Punch on Aerodactyl, sending it crashing into the canyon wall.

A pillar of red energy burst from Smeargle as the energy went into the sky.

Far away, a brown-haired man flying on a big Pidgeot paused, eyes narrowing as he turned toward the crimson light illuminating the darkened skies over Grandpa Canyon.
