The three Growlithe didn't resist and were easily subdued.

After taking care of these little ones, I went outside and released them.

At this moment, Lucario had already heated the milk and even thoughtfully brought a few new pots to serve it in.

Seeing this, Evan said to the three Growlithe:

"Go ahead and drink the milk first. I'll prepare energy cubes for you in a few days."

The three Growlithe didn't understand what he meant but were drawn by the scent in the air. They quickly ran up and eagerly drank the warm milk.

Evan shook his head. Woken up early and unable to return to sleep, he decided to wash up and start feeding energy cubes to the Pokémon. While doing so, he also checked the other Pokémon eggs.

The remaining 3 Growlithe eggs were expected to hatch in the next few days. As for the others, they wouldn't hatch as quickly. Those eggs were different from the Growlithe eggs, and Evan preferred to keep them in a stable condition for now. If anyone needed them, he planned to sell the eggs directly and let the buyers handle the hatching.

Not long after, Isla and the others arrived to prepare for work. However, they were surprised to see Evan playing with the three Growlithe.

"Brother Evan, you're up early today. Are these newly hatched Growlithe?" Isla asked, astonished.

"Yes," Evan replied with a nod. "They woke me up early, so I started my day earlier than usual. I've already fed the Pokémon. Now, let's get the other ingredients ready. Once the fruits are delivered, we'll process those, and when the ores and other materials arrive, we can start making the energy cubes."

Evan quickly assigned tasks to the group. Since he had completed the morning preparations, they could head straight into the workshop to continue other work.

The team nodded and got to work. Evan left the three Growlithe in Gardevoir's care, instructing her to take them to the backyard of the breeding house and start training them early. He wanted them to understand that the orchard was their territory and that they were its protectors. Any invading Pokémon would be their enemy.

Training started immediately. Evan also asked Gardevoir to put them through rigorous training so they could evolve into Arcanine quickly and fulfill their role as guardians of the orchard.

After arranging this, Evan left with his newly evolved Gallade and Kirlia, heading out to drop off some of the younger ones at school. Just as he loaded them into the car, his phone rang.

Glancing at the unfamiliar number, he hesitated but decided to answer.

"Is this Director Evan of the Hope Orphanage?" an older voice asked.

"This is Evan," he replied, surprised.

"Hello, how can I help you?" Evan asked, his confusion growing as he tried to discern the purpose of the call.

The person didn't beat around the bush and explained directly, "It's like this. Our orphanage is closing. There's a child here who hasn't been adopted yet, and I'd like to send them to your care. Do you think that would be acceptable?"

Hearing this, Evan felt a twinge of unease. A little child who hadn't found a home yet? The closure of orphanages wasn't uncommon; several of the children at Hope Orphanage had come from other facilities that had shut down. However, these matters were typically handled by the old director. Now that Evan was in charge, these responsibilities fell on him.

After a brief pause, Evan replied firmly, "Send them over. We still have room at the orphanage."

Evan didn't ask too many questions. He could have refused, citing plenty of valid reasons, but he decided against it. It was just one child—manageable. If it were dozens, he might have reconsidered.

The person's relief was palpable. "Thank you so much. I'll book a ticket and bring her over by noon."

From his tone, Evan could tell the old director had contacted several other orphanages, all of whom had declined. Times were tough for many facilities.

Evan sighed but kept his thoughts to himself. He understood the burden but chose to help where he could. If something was beyond his ability, he'd simply refuse.

After the call ended, Aunt Jenn, who had been standing nearby, spoke up. "Is there a child being sent over?" Having overheard the conversation, she was curious.

Evan nodded. "Yes. A little girl will arrive later. Aunt Jenn, could you prepare a room for her?"

Hearing this, Aunt Jenn nodded. "It seems many orphanages are struggling these days. I've heard of several shutting down recently. Either they don't have enough children to justify staying open, or they're too underfunded to operate. This won't be the first, and it probably won't be the last."

"It looks like we might have a few more bean sprouts joining us in the future," she added with a sigh.

Evan smiled. "If we can help, we should. Of course, if it gets to be too much, we'll need to reconsider. For now, we're in a position to take in a few more children, so let's focus on helping where we can."

Aunt Jenn agreed, but both understood the limitations. A handful of children was one thing; more than that could be overwhelming.

After their discussion, Evan returned to the breeding house. The impending arrival of the child was a minor matter for him. He quickly immersed himself in his work.

Before long, the berries ordered the previous day were delivered, followed shortly by Levi's shipment of ores. This influx of supplies only made Evan busier, leaving the orphanage's new addition as a fleeting thought for the moment.
