Shiny Pokémon, like Beedrill or Butterfree, are incredibly rare. Even with money, acquiring one is difficult and often depends on luck. Out of 10,000 Pokémon, encountering just one Shiny Pokémon is considered remarkable.

The Pokémon Alliance has conducted studies on this phenomenon. They found that among tens of thousands of Pokémon eggs hatched together, only one Shiny typically appears. This rarity is normal and expected.

Currently, the Egg Condition system cannot detect whether a Pokémon is Shiny or if its genes have mutated. It only evaluates whether the genes are stable and if the Pokémon is strong or weak. Determining if a Pokémon is Shiny requires waiting until it hatches. Perhaps future technology will allow us to identify Shiny Pokémon in eggs, but that's not possible right now.

This scarcity means that Shiny Pokémon are hard to come by, even for those with money. While Shiny Pokémon like Beedrill or Magikarp are easier to purchase, finding a Shiny Pokémon that suits someone's specific preferences is much harder.

For instance, Sophia knew this well. Despite her wealth, she wasn't interested in just any Shiny Pokémon. She wanted one that matched her tastes, and buying one she didn't like would be pointless. Sophia, a stylish and discerning young woman, only appreciated Pokémon that aligned with her personal style.

As she and Evan sat chatting, Sophia transferred a large sum of money to him, which arrived promptly. Receiving such a considerable amount left Evan feeling ambitious—he entertained the thought of raising a pseudo-legendary Pokémon. However, their conversation quickly shifted his perspective.

"Evan Senior, how do you think Garchomp should be cultivated?" Sophia asked. "I've already spent nearly 200 million on it, raising it to the quasi-Elite peak. But now it's stuck. Do you have any suggestions?"

Evan was taken aback. "Are you kidding? It cost 200 million?" he exclaimed, incredulous. "That's insane! And what about the cost of the egg itself? That must have been in the hundreds of millions too, right?"

Sophia nodded and began explaining her expenses. "Yes, that's about right. I factored in the energy cubes it's eaten. It's been consuming intermediate energy cubes since it was a Gible, and Advance-level cubes as it grew stronger. All of these are custom-made by breeders at home, which makes them highly effective but very expensive."

She continued, "Each day costs tens of thousands. Then there are training injuries, medical treatments, nutritional supplements, and snacks—it all adds up. From Gible to now, I've spent close to 200 million. Raising pseudo-legendaries is no joke."

Sophia then compared her situation to Violet, who had raised a Flash Metagross. "Sister Violet's Metagross has probably cost her nearly a billion. She got lucky—her Beldum hatched as a Shiny. But even so, the cost of training it to championship level was enormous. She spent tens of millions on the mega stone alone, plus maintenance and other expenses."

Hearing this, Evan could only marvel at the staggering figures. It was clear why many civilian Trainers, even if they caught a pseudo-legendary, opted to sell it rather than raise it themselves—they simply couldn't afford it.

"It's so expensive!" Evan muttered. Feeling inspired, he declared, "One day, I'll make training Pokémon affordable for everyone!"

Sophia chuckled at his ambition. "You're not the first person to have that idea," she said. "Honestly, things are relatively cheap here compared to abroad. If you saw what it's like overseas, you'd be shocked. Over there, ordinary Trainers have no chance to rise. Their so-called 'elite' Trainers are just backed by capital. In the end, they're still working for the system."

She paused, then added, "At least here, civilian Trainers have a shot. If they're determined and willing to work hard, they can become Gym Leaders or Elite Trainers. It's not easy, but it's possible."

"After Trainers reach a certain level of strength, the Alliance provides subsidies, which is great for supporting the public," Sophia remarked. "It's not like abroad."

She continued chatting with Evan, delving into the differences between local and foreign Trainer systems. Evan quickly realized that once she found a topic she liked, Sophia could talk endlessly—a bit chatty but genuinely passionate.

Their conversation carried on until almost noon when a car pulled up outside Evan's breeding house. Evan didn't need to guess; it had to be Colton.

As Evan stepped outside, he saw Colton jump out of the car, looking around with wide eyes.

"Wow," Colton exclaimed. "Evan, your place is impressive. This whole thing's yours? It's huge!"

He surveyed the breeding house in amazement. Clearly, Colton hadn't seen it in its current state, as much of it had been renovated recently.

Sophia watched Colton curiously, guessing this must be the classmate helping Evan find Pokémon eggs. Evan confirmed her suspicions when he greeted Colton.

Colton's attention quickly shifted to Sophia, his expression turning from admiration for the breeding house to surprise.

"Sophia?" Colton blurted, clearly recognizing her. Unlike Evan, who didn't pay much attention to junior students, Colton seemed well-acquainted with her.

"Hello," Sophia replied politely.

Colton turned back to Evan, his face full of mischief. "Evan, is Sophia your girlfriend now? Should I start calling you brother-in-law?"

Hearing this, Sophia's cheeks flushed red, though she kept her composure. Before she could respond, Evan spoke up sharply.

"Enough with the nonsense," Evan said, rolling his eyes. "If you want to call me something, it's Brother. Now quit it. And for the record, she's not my girlfriend, so you're wrong anyway."

Colton smirked but let it go. Evan waved off the teasing and changed the subject. "Alright, enough joking around. Help me unload the eggs. Isla, Daniel, Michael, come help out!" Evan called into the breeding house.

Colton huffed but went to open the van. "Fine, fine. Here's the shipment."

As Colton unloaded, his gaze drifted to the three assistants Evan had called. Though not as striking as Sophia, they were charming enough to catch Colton's attention. His jaw nearly dropped.

"What the—Evan!" Colton exclaimed internally, jealousy written all over his face. "What is this? All these girls hanging around him? He used to act so serious back in school. Now he's living the dream?!"

Suppressing his envy, Colton returned to unloading, muttering complaints under his breath. "If I'd known better, I'd have sent someone else to deliver this."

Finally, Colton grumbled, "Here are the eggs you wanted. There are also eight Growlithe eggs in this batch. That'll be 80,000 per egg. Pay up."

Evan raised a brow at Colton's exaggerated frustration but decided not to engage. "Alright, alright," Evan said with a shrug, fishing out his payment. Colton, still stewing in silent envy, rolled his eyes as he accepted the money. At least the payment softened his mood slightly.
