Pokemon system: strongest champion

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Ability Stacking, Encounter With You

"Captain, we've found Mew!" a Team Rocket grunt exclaimed excitedly. A red dot blinked on the radar detector in his hand, pointing straight ahead to a dense patch of bushes.

"Come out, Fearow!" the team leader ordered without hesitation, throwing a Poké Ball into the air. The six members behind him quickly followed suit, releasing their Spearow. Each held a compact Electro Web device, clearly well-prepared for a capture attempt.

But unfortunately for them, this squad was nothing more than a disposable pawn—a group sent to probe Professor Oak's response to their actions.

(Could a squad like this really take down Mew?)

"Maybe they think Mew's just mischievous and easy to bully~" Mason quipped nearby, watching quietly from a concealed spot.

Despite Mew's immense strength as a mythical Pokémon, its kind and playful nature often led to it being targeted by malicious groups like Team Rocket.

"Is that… a Pidgey?" one grunt asked, blinking in confusion. He double-checked the radar's readings multiple times, and it was indeed pointing at a small Pidgey foraging peacefully in the clearing ahead.

"Fearow, use Triangle Attack!" the captain barked. He turned to scold the grunt, "Idiot! Don't you know Mew can disguise itself as a normal Pokémon?!"

(How am I supposed to know that…?) the grunt thought bitterly, lowering his head in frustration. Ordinary members like him weren't exactly briefed on divine beast capabilities.

Fearow opened its beak, unleashing three energy orbs that spun into a triangle, each with a chance to burn, freeze, or paralyze the target. The captain aimed to wear Mew down before attempting a capture.

Realizing its cover had been blown—likely due to Fearow's use of Foresight—Mew stopped pretending. It shimmered and transformed into a Pidgeot midair, flapping its wings to launch an Air Cutter that dispersed the Triangle Attack.

"As expected of a mythical Pokémon—it won't go down easily," the captain muttered, nodding subtly at his subordinates. They began issuing commands to their Spearow, feigning a coordinated attack. In truth, they were manipulating their Electro Webs behind the scenes, hoping to ensnare Mew when it least expected it.

But Mew wasn't so easily trapped.

As the battle raged, the sound of the scuffle attracted the attention of other Pokémon. A powerful Beedrill suddenly emerged from the forest, firing a rapid Pin Missile barrage that struck down one of the advancing Spearow.

This Beedrill stood out. At 1.3 meters tall, it was well-developed compared to others of its kind. Two distinct red rings adorned its tail, and its gleaming stinger dripped with a faint purple venom, looking dangerously sharp.

Beedrill's bold intervention enraged the captain. With a sharp command, he directed Fearow to turn its attention to the new threat.

But this was no ordinary Beedrill. Hardened by countless battles, it was not one to be intimidated. It launched a second Pin Missile to create distance, then closed in with a fierce X-Scissor, striking a critical hit on Fearow.

Fearow screeched in pain and faltered in the air. The captain's face darkened, and he barked another order. The grunts launched another Electro Web, this time targeting Beedrill directly.

Caught midair, Beedrill struggled as the threads constricted it. Fearow took advantage of the opening and launched a relentless assault. Beedrill began to falter, wings slowing, until a faint green aura shimmered around its body.

This was Beedrill's Ability—Insect Premonition.

(Insect Premonition: When HP falls below one-third, the power of Bug-type moves increases by 1.5x.)

"Hmph, just a common ability," the captain sneered. "If it had [Snipe Shot], maybe I'd consider capturing it."

"Is it really so honorable to torture a Beedrill?" a cold voice cut in from behind.

The captain turned around sharply—and froze.

His entire team was down. The five Spearow floated in the air with dazed, spiraling eyes, clearly knocked out and placed into deep sleep by a powerful Psychic.

Mason stood calmly, hand still faintly glowing from the recent attack.

"Who are you? How dare you interfere with Team Rocket's sacred mission?!" the captain barked, attempting to intimidate Mason with Team Rocket's name. But Mason remained unfazed.

Fearow, sensing something wrong, dove at Mason. But a sudden Aura Sphere burst from Mason's palm, crashing into Fearow and slamming it into the dirt.

At Mason's signal, Beedrill, despite his weakened state, rushed forward with a final X-Scissor, decisively defeating Fearow.

"You… would you like to be part of my team?" Mason asked, ignoring the sputtering captain. He extended a hand toward Beedrill, eyes filled with sincere admiration.

Unlike the other Pokémon that had scattered in fear, this Beedrill had chosen to stand up and protect Mew, even at great risk. That bravery and sense of justice deeply impressed Mason.

Beedrill hesitated for a moment, then slowly extended his right stinger, touching Mason's palm in acceptance.

He had chosen.

He would become the "family" of the boy before him.

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for capturing your first Pokémon! Ability Stacking System activated! Identifying Pokémon: Beedrill. Do you wish to stack the Snipe Shot ability?]

Mason's eyes lit up. A system? He hadn't expected something like this at all.

[Superimposing Snipe Shot ability…]

Beedrill's form began to shift. His twin stingers glowed and sharpened. His red eyes narrowed, taking on a focused, hunter-like glint. He had fully adopted the traits of the Snipe Shot ability.

Mason quickly noticed something else—Beedrill still had the active Insect Premonition effect. That meant he now possessed the stacked power of two abilities.

Just then, the captain tried to slink away, hoping to escape while Mason was distracted.

"I don't think so." With a flick of his wrist, Mason's Psychic froze the captain in place, paralyzed and unable to move.

"If you're so confident," the captain growled, "then fight me directly!"

"Beedrill, recover first," Mason replied calmly, tossing two Oran Berries to his new companion. "Let's use this battle to build our teamwork."

The captain smirked as he regained mobility. "Go, Rhino!"

A Poké Ball burst open, revealing a sturdy Rhydon, its heavy armor gleaming under the sunlight.

"Focus Energy," Mason said.

Beedrill nodded, inhaling deeply. His eyes locked on the target, scanning for weak points beneath the thick armor.

"Charge in! Horn Attack!" the captain yelled.

"Dodge it."

Beedrill darted aside, effortlessly avoiding the heavy charge. Then, wings humming, he swooped in with a devastating X-Scissor aimed at Rhydon's vulnerable joint.

With the combined boost from Insect Premonition and Snipe Shot, the strike hit with explosive power. Rhydon groaned and collapsed, unable to continue the fight.

"How is this possible? A Beedrill—defeating my Rhino?!" the captain cried out in disbelief, only to be silenced again by Mason's Psychic.

"Mim"

Mew, who had been hovering playfully nearby, now floated closer with a delighted expression. He rubbed affectionately against Mason's cheek, having sensed his kind and powerful aura.

Mew hadn't felt such righteous wave energy in a long time and immediately took a liking to Mason, letting him pet its soft, pink body without hesitation.

"We'll talk more later, Mew," Mason said gently. He turned back to the groaning Team Rocket members. "First, let's get these criminals sent to the Alliance prison."

Raising his hand, he summoned a glowing Aura Sphere and hurled it skyward. It burst in a brilliant flash, a signal understood instantly by Professor Oak in the distance.

"Is Mason in trouble?" Professor Oak immediately contacted the Alliance police, requesting urgent support.

Half an Hour Later

The rogue Rocket squad—disposable agents sent to test the waters—were rounded up and arrested by Officer Jenny and her team.

Mason, meanwhile, had not only met the mythical Mew but also bonded with a uniquely strong and justice-driven Beedrill. What he had expected to be a dull summer camp had turned into an unforgettable adventure.

It was a beginning that would change everything.

(Note: Mason's Beedrill has rich combat experience due to traveling alone, which is why it's stronger than the average Rhydon.)
