After bidding farewell to Kris and Patt, Sato mounted his mountain bike and swiftly left the city park.
He then headed to a modest, budget-friendly inn.
Using his Trainer ID, he booked a deluxe single room and paid for a day's stay. Once settled in the spacious, quiet room, Sato enjoyed a restful sleep alongside his Pokémon.
He woke up around 6 PM, thanks to his alarm clock. Afterward, he called room service to request a sumptuous dinner and prepared meals for his Pokémon himself.
Once everyone was well-fed, Sato checked out of the inn.
He mounted his bike again, accompanied by Growlithe, and headed to the rendezvous point he had agreed upon earlier with Kris and Patt.
Since Sato had declared he wouldn't take any credit for the operation, he needed to remain incognito.
This wasn't difficult for someone with a Ditto; a simple disguise mask was all it took.
This anonymity also allowed Sato to avoid direct confrontations with the stronger members of the Bicycle Gang.
His main role in the operation was to deal with the gang's lower-ranked members.
In truth, the upper-echelon forces for this operation, led by Wattson, weren't lacking.
What they needed were mid- and low-tier forces.
The saying "too many monks and too little gruel" applied here. Only those who managed to take down the core members of the Bicycle Gang had a chance to earn renown.
As a result, the top-tier operatives, including Kris and Patt, were unwilling to waste their time on underlings.
But this led to a problem.
If both sides' upper echelons were evenly matched but there was a significant disparity in mid- and lower-tier forces, the operation would be doomed to fail.
If the elite forces couldn't quickly eliminate the gang's upper ranks, the operation would end in disaster.
This deadlock was caused by human selfishness—everyone refused to handle the grunt work.
But with Sato, a top-tier operative, willingly stepping in to support the mid- and low-tier forces, the numbers issue could be addressed effectively.
Having witnessed Sato's strength firsthand, both Kris and Patt knew he could easily handle the workload of over a dozen average Trainers, if not more.
The meeting point was a small forest south of Mauville City near the Cycling Highway.
Disguised as an ordinary, low-profile recruit, Sato arrived to find 12 Trainers already gathered there.
Wattson, Kris, and Patt had arrived earlier and stood at the center of the group, basking in the admiration of the other Trainers.
Growlithe and Sato's mountain bike, which featured a front basket, served as his identification.
As soon as he arrived, the trio nodded in acknowledgment.
In another ten minutes, 25 Trainers had gathered. Once Wattson confirmed the headcount, he led the charge on his bike.
With 25 Trainers on 25 bikes, the group formed an impressive convoy as they set out.
Sato followed at the rear of the line with Growlithe.
The Cycling Gang's base wasn't hard to find.
According to intelligence gathered from informants, their headquarters was hidden beneath a house in the southwestern outskirts of Mauville City.
The task force launched a surprise attack, quickly taking down the lookouts stationed outside and surrounding the house. The gang was caught off guard.
When the gang leader and a few core members emerged, it was already too late—they were surrounded by the task force and their Pokémon.
Wattson and the other elite operatives wasted no time engaging the gang's leader and core members, preventing them from escaping.
The gang had over 40 mid- and lower-tier members pouring out of the underground base.
If not for some being stationed on patrol along the highway, their numbers would have been even higher.
Fortunately, apart from the leader and a handful of core members, the rest of the gang was relatively weak.
Most of their Pokémon were Gulpins, easy-to-capture species from nearby habitats.
The lower-tier members typically had three Gulpins each, averaging level 14, while the mid-tier members had four or more, often including a Electrike for those with better resources, averaging level 20.
To maintain his low profile, Sato refrained from sending out his Swampert or other powerful Pokémon.
Instead, he relied on his Shiny Beautifly and Growlithe.
Growlithe's role was to ensure Sato's safety, while Shiny Beautifly handled the bulk of the grunt work.
Though only level 20, Shiny Beautifly was armed with a top-grade, mutated Supreme Sky Splitting Stone, making her nearly unstoppable in this low-level skirmish.
Her graceful, lightning-fast aerial maneuvers struck despair into her opponents.
A single swift Aerial Ace was often enough to incapacitate multiple Gulpins at once.
On the battlefield, a dazzling silhouette flitted through the fray. Wherever she passed, Gulpins were sent flying and left unconscious.
Simultaneously, her Stun Spore left their Trainers paralyzed and incapacitated.
Shiny Beautifly was Sato's most promising Pokémon to raise at the moment.
Firstly, as a Bug-type, she was already biologically mature upon evolving into Beautifly.
Sato didn't have to worry about rapid level-ups hindering her potential.
Secondly, her individual values were near-perfect, and combined with her innate Bug Monarch ability, her base stats reached an impressive 592.5.
Her strength noticeably increased with every level.
Finally, like Bellossom, Shiny Beautifly demonstrated unparalleled talent in manipulating Bug- and Flying-type energies. This allowed her to quickly master new moves without worrying about proficiency.
These factors gave Sato hope that she could become as strong as his Swampert in the near future.
In fact, Shiny Beautifly was shaping up to be his secret trump card within Team Rocket.
If she could grow strong enough quickly, alongside Swampert and his other Pokémon, Sato could hold his own within the cutthroat environment of Team Rocket.
Within moments, Shiny Beautifly had decimated most of the lower-tier gang members before the other operatives could react.
Her elegant yet fearsome display struck fear into the gang and even unsettled some of the task force members.
With the lower-tier members incapacitated, Sato shifted his attention to the mid-tier members still locked in battle with the task force.
By this point, many on the battlefield had taken notice of Sato, the Trainer behind the formidable Beautifly. Every gang member who caught his gaze couldn't help but shiver.
