"Whew~~, finally made it. This bicycle expressway is quite long, took almost 2 hours to ride through."

Sato rode his Acro bike past the entrance checkpoint of the bicycle expressway into Slateport City, then looked at the still brightly lit city ahead and let out a long sigh, thinking to himself while covered in sweat.

"Hey, young man, coming through the bicycle expressway this late? You look pretty good, seems like you didn't run into those pesky bike gangsters blocking the road and robbing people. Did those bastards call it a day already? By the way, let me see your ID."

As soon as Sato came out of the checkpoint, a portly League police officer on night patrol noticed this rare visitor and quickly walked over with a chubby Growlithe.

He pressed his chin with his right hand shaped like a gun, squinted his small eyes, and questioned him with a look of suspicion.

"That's not the case. Tonight, someone in Mauville City wiped out those nasty bike gangsters. That's why I dared to ride the bicycle expressway to Slateport City so late. Here, officer, this is my League ID."

Seeing the chubby police officer looking at him with suspicion, Sato's mouth twitched slightly.

He then took out his League ID from his pocket and answered with a smile.

The chubby police officer was clearly very surprised by Sato's news. He didn't even bother to look at the League ID Sato handed over, quickly pulling out a black walkie-talkie from his belt and stepping aside to start a conversation with someone.

"That's great, kid. You're not lying to me. Those bastards are finally done for. What a relief! Oh, from Kanto, huh? It's been a while since I had a Pokémon battle with a young man from Kanto. Come on, kid, let your Pokémon have a match with my Growlithe."

A few minutes later, the chubby police officer turned off the walkie-talkie with a smile and walked over to Sato, who had been left waiting.

However, when the chubby police officer saw the information on Sato's League ID, he suddenly changed. His squinting eyes opened wide, revealing a fiery gaze, and he raised his chubby right hand to point at Sato, challenging him.

"Woof woof woof~~"

The chubby Growlithe was also ignited by its owner's fiery emotions.

It stood up from the ground and barked a few times at the fellow Growlithe peeking out from the basket on Sato's Acro bike, declaring its fighting spirit.

"Indeed, young men from Kanto are always impressive."

Five minutes later, the chubby police officer watched seriously as Sato rode his Acro bike away quickly, muttering to himself. Beside him, the chubby Growlithe stood with a bruised face, looking resentfully at its unreliable owner.

 "Whew~~"

A gust of wind blew past the chubby police officer, carrying some drifting leaves with it. Then, a sudden newspaper slapped onto his face.

After easily dealing with the unreliable chubby police officer, Sato obtained a decent city map from him.

The chubby officer was clearly a big foodie, as the map marked the locations of various restaurants and the best routes to get there.

At the same time, important places like his home, workplace, and the Pokémon Center were also marked. Sato was now following the best route to the Pokémon Center as indicated on the map.

About ten minutes later, Sato successfully arrived at the Pokémon Center in Slateport City. He handed over his shiny Beautifly and Growlithe, who had battled that night, to Nurse Joy for treatment and booked a single room.

Then, he waited in the lobby.

While waiting, Sato quickly took out his laptop, connected to the Pokémon Center's Wi-Fi, and logged onto the official website of Slateport Airlines.

He then booked a flight ticket to Saffron City for the next day.

Airplanes were considered very high-end transportation in the Pokémon world.

Even economy class tickets were ridiculously expensive, especially for cross-continental flights, with a single ticket costing 100,000 Pokédollars, something ordinary people couldn't afford.

Despite this, cross-continental flights were almost always fully booked every day.

After all, in the Pokémon world, the only means of cross-continental travel for ordinary people were ships and airplanes.

Compared to ships, which were time-consuming and cheap, airplanes, though expensive, were much faster and far safer.

Except for Pokémon like Spearow, most flying-type Pokémon in the sky were quite gentle.

Moreover, because airplane tickets were expensive, the passengers were usually valuable social elites. Thus, the League specifically assigned powerful trainers specializing in flying-type Pokémon to ride alongside the planes for protection, a treatment far superior to that of ships.

That's why every year, TV reports were filled with news of ships being unfortunately attacked by Pokémon leading to maritime disasters, but there were rarely any reports of airplane accidents.

When Sato was booking his ticket, both economy and business class were sold out, leaving only a few expensive first-class tickets.

A single first-class ticket cost a whopping 600,000 Pokédollars, almost like daylight robbery.

Fortunately, Sato was quick, or he would have had to wait for the next flight to Saffron City in Kanto. When he bought the ticket, it was the last one available.

The flight was scheduled to depart at 5 a.m. the next morning. If everything went according to plan and no unexpected incidents occurred, Sato would arrive at Saffron City Airport in Kanto around 8 p.m. the next day.

"Oh, it really is you, Mr. Sato. I didn't expect to run into you here."

Just as Sato was intently reviewing the information about his flight on the computer screen, a sweet voice filled with surprise suddenly appeared beside him.

Hearing the voice, Sato immediately turned his head and saw a girl who looked strikingly similar to Nurse Joy smiling at him.

She was wearing a trainee nurse uniform, and beside her stood a Chansey also dressed as a trainee nurse.

"This is Eileen, right? It's been a while since we last met. I really didn't expect to bump into you here. Looking at your outfit, are you working as a nurse here now?"

Recognizing the girl, Sato quickly stood up and smiled, not feeling the least bit embarrassed as he gave her a big hug.

This trainee nurse was Eileen, whom he had worked with on the St. Louis before.

During the shipwreck, she had participated in the rescue operations with him, making them comrades who had faced life and death together.

After their reunion, the two sat down and began to talk about their experiences over the past few days.

It turned out that after parting ways with Sato, Eileen had traveled with a few companions from the rescue team, following a route similar to Sato's to Slateport City.

Because they had ventured onto the bicycle expressway, they unfortunately encountered the bike gangsters, who robbed Eileen and her companions of their valuables.

Fortunately, the bike gangsters knew better than to push their luck and didn't steal their Pokémon, which would have seriously provoked the League.

Thus, Eileen and her companions' Pokémon remained unharmed.

Afterward, to earn travel funds, Eileen and her companions had taken up jobs in Slateport City.

Thanks to Eileen's connections with the Joy family and her excellent healing skills, she managed to get a job at the Pokémon Center, while her other companions worked as waiters on the beach.
