"I know, that guy's nothing but trouble. Follow me, Eileen."
Sato smiled faintly as he spoke. He stood up from his seat, recalled all his Pokémon, and quickly headed toward the stairs leading to the second floor.
Eileen clearly trusted Sato immensely. Without hesitation, she followed him up the stairs, her cheeks reddening slightly as she nervously walked into the single room he had booked at the Pokémon Center.
"Here, Eileen. Take this money. There should be over 2 million PokeDollars in here—enough to keep your travels in the Hoenn region going for quite a while."
When Eileen truly entered the room, Sato's expression softened into a warm smile.
He retrieved the briefcase full of money that Karu had handed him from his space equipment and offered it to her.
"No, no, no! I can't accept this. Please take it back, Mr. Sato!"
Eileen was visibly shocked by Sato's generosity, though she showed no hint of greed toward the money in front of her.
She immediately shook her head in refusal, her expression one of firm determination.
"Don't say no just yet, Eileen. We're friends, aren't we?" Sato placed the briefcase on the ground and pretended to be upset as he spoke.
"Of course! We're good friends who have been through thick and thin together!"
Eileen nodded vigorously, like a little chick pecking at rice, in response.
"Well then, that settles it. You're in trouble now, so I'm definitely going to help you. Think of this money as a loan. You can pay me back when you can, right? Don't worry about me; I made a good amount at the Battle Tower, so I'm not short on cash for now."
Satisfied with her response, Sato nodded.
Finally, Eileen was convinced. She expressed her gratitude with teary eyes and promised that she would repay the money as soon as she could earn it.
After Eileen left, Sato let out a small sigh of relief. He gestured toward his Ditto, which had disguised itself as a trainer's cap, and it quickly morphed into a generic, unremarkable human face mask.
Sato donned the mask and changed into a fresh set of clothes.
He understood the concept of a strong outsider being unable to suppress a local tyrant.
Karu, the young trainer, was clearly one such tyrant. Although temporarily intimidated, Karu would pose a threat once he investigated Sato's background and recovered his confidence.
To avoid any complications, Sato opted for a strategic retreat. This was where Ditto's transformation ability became invaluable—allowing him to leave unnoticed at any time.
As for why Sato gave Karu's money to Eileen, there were two main reasons.
The first was to deepen his bond with Eileen, who had immense potential as a healer trainer. Although she wasn't aware of it yet, Sato had scanned her team using his system's detection abilities.
All her Pokémon had purple-level potential, and one of them, a Ralts, even had gold-level potential.
The second reason was Eileen's strong ties to the Joy family. This connection essentially granted her unparalleled freedom across the continent.
Unless she courted disaster herself, her future was boundless. With this background, even Karu wouldn't dare harm her—unless he and his family had a death wish.
Thus, giving Eileen the money not only helped her with her financial troubles but also strengthened their relationship and irritated Karu.
For Sato, it was an immensely satisfying move.
Minutes later, Sato quietly left the Pokémon Center. He was now riding a Acro bike toward a 24-hour clothing store.
As Sato's Pokémon steadily grew stronger, his life and lifestyle was improving.
No longer the struggling trainer he had been a before, he now had millions of PokeDollars to his name.
He understood the importance of appearances. The clothes someone wore often left an impression and reflected their social standing.
Previously, Sato had worn standard trainer outfits due to his financial struggles. These budget-friendly clothes often attracted disdain and trouble, as many saw him as a weak and easily bullied commoner.
Now, as a professional trainer almost at an elite level with ample funds, Sato decided it was time to dress appropriately for his new status.
The clothing store Sato visited was one of the most famous in Slateport City.
Initially, the staff, accustomed to dealing with the wealthy, were indifferent to him, but once Sato showcased his financial power, their attitudes quickly shifted to enthusiasm.
By the time he left the store, Sato had completely revamped his look.
He wore the latest in elite trainer fashion, paired with a freshly styled haircut.
His sunny, handsome face and well-proportioned physique made him far more attractive—enough to draw lingering gazes from the female staff.
Additionally, Sato purchased over 50 different outfits, including a few women's outfits and makeup kits.
These were specially prepared to maximize Ditto's disguise capabilities.
Since realizing someone had been tailing him, Sato's sense of danger had grown stronger, especially as he got closer to Kanto.
Preparing for potential threats with disguises and stealth was now essential.
This shopping spree wasn't cheap. Sato spent 4 million PokeDollars in total.
As he left, the store owner personally escorted him out and even presented him with an exclusive VIP card for future discounts.
After finishing his clothing preparations, Sato checked into a well furnished inn and rested early.
The next morning, he woke at 4:30 a.m. and, by 5:30 a.m., successfully boarded a flight from Slateport City to Saffron City—beginning his return journey to Kanto.
