Chapter 551 Muskie Man?
551 Muskie Man?
Matthew enjoyed the first fish and soon enjoyed the second, even a third... Up to a tenth fish.
It was just too good.
And all this time, the blue beauty in front of him stared at him.
"Would you like another?" She asked, enjoying watching him eat.
Matthew shook his head.
"No, it's fine like this. Thanks."
"Hehe, it's not necessary. Where I live, no one eats what I make because they always say things like, 'We can't let the Lady serve us.' And they apologize a lot of times. Sigh, if only they were more realistic."
Matthew looked at her from head to toe again. Now that he was looking at her properly, she seemed to have a strange aura about her. Her body had mana, vampiric, and even spiritual power, but the most obvious was mana.
"You're a devourer, aren't you?" he asked as if to get out of doubt. She was too beautiful to be one, after all.
"Of course, what else would I be? Only we devourers are like that, aren't we? And you're a vampire; you have a very big appetite but a very small body. Is it because you work out so much?"
The fact that she said Matthew had a very small body was a bit strange since he was quite tall, even among vampires.
Though if he was compared to the devourers' giants, he was certainly quite small.
"I work out a lot frequently, so I'm always very hungry, though I don't always eat."
"True, the energy of vampires makes them not feel very hungry except for blood." She stared at him after saying this. "What does blood taste like?" she asked suddenly.
"Have you never tasted it?"
"Why should I taste blood?"
"Aren't you a devourer? Devourers eat vampires and humans and all that."
"Oh. Right." She nodded a little after that as if she was remembering that topic.
It wasn't a topic she liked to talk about because she always thought her race was a bit vulgar, but she couldn't change it either.
"They eat because they need power. I don't need that, so I've never tasted blood, I've never eaten someone either, that's disgusting." Her answer was simple but sincere. Even Matthew was surprised at her sincerity.
Still, he was more surprised by something else.
"Even if you don't need power... Isn't it a devourer's instinct to eat vampires? Don't you feel the instinct to want to eat it?"
She sighed and looked away. "Anyone who is driven by his instincts is an idiot; he doesn't understand how to control himself. That way, no one will reach the depth of power." She smiled as she said this.
Her words shocked Matthew. They were words... Deep and interesting. She was right.
Just as Matthew thought about saying something, she spoke.
"That was said by someone in some book, I don't know who. How long ago was it? Maybe 10 million years ago..."
That demolished Matthew's impression of her. Despite looking young, Matthew thought she was very wise for saying such profound words, but as it turned out, she read them.
'Still, putting it into practice is wise. That's what matters.' He thought.
But suddenly, she spoke again.
"Something like that, right? Honestly, I've never had instincts like that; I just wanted to look like someone interesting since you look like that."
Matthew couldn't find what to think or what to say, and she didn't care.
"Now that we're talking about 10 million years ago... I think 10 million years ago, there was someone I had to have eaten." She said suddenly, drastically changing the conversation again.
That opened Matthew's curiosity.
"Oh, you've lived that long? And what did the one you had to eat look like?"
She laughed. "Hahaha, I don't think someone could live 10 million years. But... His name was... Hmm, Dietrich? No, that was his last name, Dietrich of the vampires..." She seemed to get lost in her memories.
Suddenly then, she jumped, remembering. "Oh, right, Muskie!"
But then she realized she had made a mistake.
"No, wait, that's a fish..." She went back to her spot and frowned.
She looked at Matthew again. "What was your name again?" She asked.
Matthew was already on alert when she mentioned the Dietrichs. On top of that, she mentioned that the name had M in it; it was obviously him!
Was she crazy, or did she really have information on him? Maybe Matthew was the dumb one, and she was actually playing with him, some kind of weird joke. Maybe she already knew Matthew's recent identity beforehand, and that was why she was doing it.
There were many maybe's in his mind, but Matthew answered.
"Matt."
"That's right, Matthew Dietrich was his name! Wow, I didn't expect you to have the same name as that legendary man." Her sincere, egotistical smile made Matthew frown.
'It's me.'
'Either she is saying it because she knows my identity beforehand, or maybe she really knows about me from back then. Now, not even in the Forbidden Library did I find my name in any of the books. They always mention me as Heir or something similar but never use my name. So how does she know? Is she really just playing games with me?'
Matthew was very confused but curious. So he couldn't help but sit up better.
"That's a curious name. Haven't you heard that a man by that name recently appeared in the vampire territories? He's very famous." He spoke.
She looked at him and sighed.
"Well, he bears the same name, but they're not the same."
"Huh? Why do you say that?" Matthew was genuinely surprised, but she looked at him even more surprised.
"You don't know?"
"Know what?" His confusion increased.
Was there anything about himself that he didn't know? Well, surely there were many things, but...
"It's been 10 million years since the Dietrich era ended. Nobody can live 10 million years, you know? That's a long time; even trees can't do that. That's why I'm sure he's already dead. Sigh, in the end, I just wanted to know what his blood tasted like; why the hell does my mind say I have to eat him? Although his name sounds delicious... Sigh. My mission was gone from the moment I was born, even before."
She sighed repeatedly as she spoke, and her eyes showed no signs of deception. Her soul was calm, and her aura did not ripple.
She was being sincere.
Also, she sounded very regretful at the end of her words, as if it really got to her.
While Matthew was in a state of confusion.
