Quirkless Hero

Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Heroes Play Deeper

The Seaside Tower in Shinya District is one of the most famous tourist spots in the area. Built near the coast, the 33-story building stands about 100 meters tall.

Inside the Seaside Tower, you'll find high-end restaurants, entertainment casinos, swimming pools, massage services... all kinds of luxury amenities. It's a place where the upper class of Shinya District often comes to spend their time.

There's also a rumor among the elite of Shinya District: the bar on the top floor of the Seaside Tower is owned by a very important figure. It's said that only those with extremely prestigious status can get a VIP card to access the 33rd floor. But whether that's true or not is unclear... after all, no one has ever seen anyone entering or leaving that bar.

Of course, this rumor was deliberately spread by Kurogiri. To avoid suspicion from heroes and the police, he used the reputation of the upper class as a cover.

After all, aside from All Might, the undisputed No. 1 hero who doesn't need to worry about such things, most heroes who see their work as just a job wouldn't risk their careers by offending the upper class over a meaningless investigation.

There's some truth to the rumor Kurogiri spread, though. All For One had met with certain people here a long time ago—high-ranking politicians who were essentially opportunists. When All For One ruled over Japan, these so-called political figures obeyed him like loyal dogs.

But after All For One was defeated by All Might, these politicians scrambled for power, and their dirty dealings were even more terrifying than the villains.

After their old hideout, the bar, was raided by heroes and the police, Kurogiri was preparing to move to a new location when he received orders from All For One.

"Reopen that place. I'm waiting for those people to return with fear and terror on their faces. But this time, they won't be facing me..."

The Seaside Tower has reopened its newly set-up bar, which is now the *League of Villains*'s base, and Midoriya Izuku is currently living here.

A week has passed, and during this time, Midoriya hasn't done anything else. He has been observing and learning about the other members of the *League of Villains* and their activities.

The nominal leader of the *League of Villains* is Shigaraki Tomura, but everyone knows that all·for·one is the real boss, and Kurogiri serves as his core assistant.

After joining the *League of Villains*, a group of famous criminals, including Toga Himiko, Mag Sister, Spinner, and others, who are known for their murders, have become part of the group.

Dabi, the Magician, and Toga, while having committed no actual killings, have not done anything truly evil. After learning this, Midoriya is more understanding towards them, at least not filled with murderous intent.

The *League of Villains*' base is the bar at the top of the Seaside Tower. To get in and out, the members rely on Kurogiri's "portals." Unless all·for·one organizes something, the members act freely.

This means that if someone wanted to go out and kill, they could, but no one dares to do that right now, especially with Midoriya Izuku in the *League of Villains*.

If anyone tried to mess around without the same strength as Midoriya, they'd probably be shredded by steel wires once they returned to the group, given what happened to that muscle-head guy.

All·for·one clearly favors this kid, so the *League of Villains* is currently quite peaceful.

After spending a week with these people, Midoriya has roughly figured out the group's makeup: a mix of violent criminals, psychopaths, and people with unclear motives.

The violent criminals are mainly Mag Sister and Spinner, both with multiple murders on their hands. Midoriya also remembers that Pixie Bob was injured by Mag Sister, so he has them on his blacklist.

Toga Himiko and Twice are both mentally unstable. One has a twisted obsession with blood, and the other has split personalities after his Quirk malfunctioned. Midoriya's current approach with them is to try and help them straighten out.

Dabi and the Magician are harder for Midoriya to understand. They haven't committed any crimes, and their mental state seems normal... in short, they seem to have joined the *League of Villains* for some other reason.

Kurogiri, as usual, was skillfully wiping a glass. It seemed like besides his work as an "enemy," his hobby was being a bartender. Midoriya Izuku asked him:

"You don't seem like a bad guy. Why are you helping that man?"

"Curious?"

Kurogiri placed the glass he had been wiping down and his expression subtly changed, showing a look of fervent devotion, like a devoted follower.

"Because that man gave everything to me, someone who had nothing!"

"......"

Midoriya didn't speak or respond. He thought back to the story all·for·one had told him, about the weak, oppressed person who gained power, killed everyone who hurt him, and treated all·for·one as a god.

"Shigaraki Tomura... what about you?"

After a brief pause, Midoriya Izuku asked the pale-haired guy next to him. Based on how he referred to all·for·one, he must be that man's "student," right?

"Why should I tell you?"

Shigaraki Tomura looked coldly at Midoriya Izuku. Since the kid had joined the *League of Villains*, the whole atmosphere had been off. Even though Midoriya was just a pawn in his "teacher's" important plans, Shigaraki had no good feelings toward him.

"It's nothing. I just wanted to know a little more about everyone's situation."

Midoriya Izuku, who had been intentionally asking around to gather information, saw Shigaraki Tomura hesitate for a moment before speaking. It wasn't really a secret, so he didn't mind sharing.

"When I needed a hero the most, it wasn't a 'hero' who reached out to help me. It was 'teacher'."

"......"

At that moment, Midoriya had nothing to say. The people who couldn't be helped by heroes were saved by the "enemy." Or, in Shigaraki Tomura's case, his "teacher," all·for·one, must have been his "hero."

But there was nothing that could be done. Even heroes like All Might, in the end, were still just "humans." Humans are not gods... or even gods can't save everyone from suffering.

The goal of a human-made "hero" isn't to rescue everyone from suffering in such a grand way. All they can do is protect the people right in front of them. But there are always people they can't help in time... just like Shigaraki Tomura.

As Midoriya sighed in frustration over reality, he suddenly heard the sound of an elevator ding.

At the same time, not just Midoriya Izuku, but everyone from the *League of Villains* turned their attention to the elevator door, readying themselves for a fight.

Everyone had traveled here using Kurogiri's "portals." Who would be taking an elevator up? Clearly, the newcomer wasn't friendly.

As everyone braced for battle, the elevator doors slowly opened, but there was no one inside.

"I'll go check."

Mag Sister, bold and tall, walked toward the elevator. But as she approached, a small round object on the elevator suddenly released a burst of yellow smoke. Mag Sister accidentally inhaled it and collapsed right there.

At the same time, Midoriya Izuku recognized the round object and the very familiar yellow smoke. His face instantly turned pale in fear.
