Chapter 508: Chapter 508: The Shattered Noah Continent
It was unclear exactly when the second war between the primal gods and the deities began.
"Who knows if there are primal gods hidden in the Heroic Domain."
"If there are, they must be rooted out, or they will become a serious threat."
Garon, the true self, resided in the Hall of Eternal Heroes, with his eyes slightly closed, seemingly resting. The Hero's Crown on his head glowed, connecting chains of rules. Using the authority of the Lord of Heroes, he surveyed the Heroic Domain with a god's perspective, his gaze sweeping across its many layers.
The sky was filled with clouds and mist, with the Dragon Court where legendary true dragons resided.
The Sky Garden, dominated by heroic spirits, with towering mountains, vast rivers, and sprawling forests.
The Land of Fire, with its smoking volcanoes and reborn landscapes, gathered many fire-attribute true dragons. And the subterranean world, filled with tunnels and caverns, home to many stone dragons.
The river of time flowed as always, steady and unhurried.
After a while, the silver dragon opened his deep platinum eyes, like the starry sea.
Garon did not miss an inch of the Heroic Domain.
Even the Dragon Court, where it was least likely for a primal god to hide, was thoroughly inspected. The other three layers were no exception, thoroughly scrutinized by Garon. As the ruler of the plane, this did not take much time or effort.
The result was no signs of anything unusual.
This did not surprise Garon.
He inspected the Heroic Domain as a precaution.
The likelihood of a primal god hiding in the Heroic Domain was extremely low.
"The Pantheon is built in the Dragon Court, and gods including the Nine-faced Dragon God will frequently visit in the future."
"A primal god hiding in the Heroic Domain would be like a mouse hiding in a cat's nest."
Despite this, to prevent overlooking anything, Garon thoroughly inspected the Heroic Domain. He could not rule out the existence of a bold primal god. Additionally, Garon set up traps and alarms in many potential hiding spots. If an intruder triggered them unknowingly, he, as the Lord of the Heroic Domain, would be alerted immediately.
"Harley."
Garon called softly.
A semi-transparent crystal skull spun and appeared before Garon.
"My lord."
"From now on, monitor all activities in the Heroic Domain. Don't miss anything, and notify me immediately of any anomalies."
Garon ordered.
"Understood."
Receiving the command, the crystal skull vanished, merging into the Hall of Eternal Heroes.
The Hall of Eternal Heroes had now become the core of the Heroic Domain, situated at the center of the endless plane's rules. As its spirit, Harley could monitor the Heroic Domain to some extent. Though not as thorough as Garon's inspection, Harley could tirelessly carry out Garon's orders.
Meanwhile.
After a brief period of mourning for the fallen gods, the deities of other planes intensified their vigilance and scrutinized their domains more thoroughly.
Garon also kept an eye on news from other planes.
Though the Goddess of Love and Beauty was among the weaker greater deities, her death required multiple primal gods to simultaneously attack, knowing her exact movements outside her divine kingdom. Such intelligence often needed to be gathered from the same plane.
Due to the deities' heightened sense of threat, their thorough investigation did bear fruit.
First, in the Wild Lands, home to the elven pantheon, a hidden primal god was discovered.
Before the elven gods and the Pantheon's deities could unite to besiege it, the primal god sensed their presence and immediately fled to the lower planes, evading the gods' ambush.
Following this, more planes reported sightings of primal gods.
Similar to the Wild Lands, the primal gods, always vigilant, would often escape the moment they sensed danger, abandoning their hiding spots. With their numbers now considerable, they even dared to attack deities directly, viewing their former hiding places as dispensable.
But not all primal gods escaped unscathed.
Some, daring beyond measure, hid in Mount Celestia, the realm of utmost good and the domain of the plane's ruler. Several primal gods were discovered there. The Overgod of the Celestial Heavens promptly sealed off the mountain, collaborating with the powerful gods of Mount Celestia to besiege and slay two primal gods, while severely wounding others who fled.
After a period of intense purging.
The likelihood of primal gods hiding in the upper planes became minimal.
However, dealing with the lower planes such as the Abyss, the Nine Hells, the Inferno, and the Battlefield of the Asuras was more difficult. Many evil and chaotic gods were hard to communicate with. Though many evil gods joined the Pantheon, the majority were still orderly deities.
To evil and chaotic gods, the primal gods' plans to destroy the world or themselves were inconsequential, as many shared similar destructive inclinations.
Moreover, they believed the primal gods' actions would merely cause more destruction, fitting their own desires.
Some gods were indifferent, not caring about the primal gods as long as the conflict did not affect them directly.
This group of gods was not small.
"The first war between the primal gods and the deities saw the primal gods defeated by a united front of gods."
Garon thought silently.
"Now the situation seems reversed."
"The primal gods are united, while the stronger gods cannot fully unite."
Garon was not surprised by this outcome.
After all, as rulers for a long time, the gods' mindsets and perspectives had changed significantly since they were weaker than the primal gods.
Time passed quietly, and Garon continued to observe the situation across various planes.
After the large-scale retreat of the primal gods from the upper planes to the lower planes, they no longer hid but began establishing their territories.
Moreover, the primal gods started moving to the Material Plane on a large scale. Increasingly, signs of primal god activity were found in many Material Planes. They expanded their influence and tried to undermine the faith in the gods from its root.
In the Material Plane, facing intelligent races, the primal gods hid their true intentions.
Their true ideology of destroying all and returning to the primordial age was masked. Instead, they preached the overthrow of the gods' rule, promising true freedom for the multiverse.
This had some effect.
After all, there were always beings unwilling to bow to the gods' glory.
Furthermore, as primordial beings born with the multiverse, many primal gods were older than the gods themselves, naturally attracting reverence and followers. Under the primal gods' lure, many intelligent beings became their apostles, founding underground churches and secret societies, spreading the ideologies dressed up by the primal gods.
Facing the primal gods' attempts to shake their faith base.
The gods' response was swift and strong.
As the dominant religion in many Material Planes, the gods' churches united to declare all organizations worshipping the primal gods as cults, revealing the primal gods' true ambitions. They burned the cultists who spread the primal gods' ideologies at the stake.
The multiverse had been under the gods' rule for a long time.
The primal gods' tactics had some effect but were not enough to shake the gods' faith foundation.
However, the signs of primal god activity in the Material Plane increased instead of decreasing.
Besides, there was another matter that caught Garon's attention.
The Lord of Terror was rebuilding his demon nest in the Silent Mountains of the fourth layer of the Inferno, with many other primal gods gathering there, driving out the local demons and devils, seemingly turning the Silent Mountains into a primal god fortress.
The conflicts between the gods and the primal gods escalated.
The Nine-faced Dragon God, often roaming different plane worlds, observing or adjusting the evolution of various plane rules, was frequently ambushed by the Lord of Terror during his outings. Their skirmishes were numerous.
Gods ambushing primal gods.
Primal gods ambushing gods.
Such incidents were happening frequently.
But for now, neither side seemed ready to start a full-scale war.
Time passed, and twelve years had elapsed since the ambush on the primal gods in the Chaos Sea.
During this period, Garon's days were simple yet fulfilling.
Observing the changing dynamics of the multiverse, absorbing and converting life energy, occasionally visiting different timelines to establish pastures, harvesting divinity, and trying to conceive offspring with Yuna. Apart from the lack of success in conceiving, everything else progressed smoothly.
"Garon, when will we have offspring?"
In the dragon's nest, Yuna blinked her light purple eyes, her long tail swaying, looking at the mature and majestic silver dragon.
Garon shook his head and said, "It's uncertain. We are both legendary dragon species and quasi-divine beings. Naturally conceiving offspring is not easy."
Lowering his head, he gently touched his mate's faceplate and said softly, "Having you is enough for me, Yuna. Offspring are not important to me. Let's leave it to fate."
Yuna nodded and said, "Alright, let's leave it to fate."
The legendary dragon couple nestled together, scales touching scales, broad dragon wings draped over each other's backs, tails entwined—a very intimate gesture among true dragons.
In the embrace of the river of time, the atmosphere in the dragon's nest became warm and serene.
Garon enjoyed his time with his mate.
However, this did not last long.
After a while, the river of time suddenly rippled, reflecting in Garon's platinum eyes, showing scenes of the future.
Garon had the ability to see the future for a long time.
Initially, he needed to actively look, and the future he saw was chaotic and disorderly. It often took a long time to find useful information.
Now, as Garon grew, his foresight ability improved. Occasionally,
he could see important future events related to himself without actively looking.
However, this ability was limited.
If a being far stronger than himself was present in the future scenes, it would severely interfere with Garon's perception, blurring his vision.
For example, during the No-Fight Pact, Garon used his foresight.
Involving the Supreme God and a group of greater deities, Garon could not see the outcome.
In the future scenes, Garon saw the shattered, disintegrating Noah Continent amidst raging sandstorms. The familiar snowy ice plains, inhabited by creatures that once followed Garon—ferocious frost tigers, polar ice spirits, winter wolves, ogres, and others—were all swallowed by the sandstorms.
There were even three adult legendary white dragons.
Adult, legendary, white dragons.
These three words rarely go together.
Even for red or gold dragons, becoming legendary as an adult was exceptional, let alone white dragons, the weakest of the chromatic dragons.
However, these three white dragons were special.
They were the siblings of Garon Aurelian, the great Dragon of Eternity and Time, the Lord of the Heroic Domain, and the Dragon Court.
After gaining enough self-preservation ability, the three white dragons returned together to the northern ice plains of the Noah Continent. Though far inferior to Garon, they were far superior to ordinary white dragons, becoming legendary creatures as adults and even earning some accolades in wars against giants.
They had settled in the northern ice plains for a long time.
As siblings, while competing for territory, they also jointly controlled the northern ice plains, known on the Noah Continent as the Three Lords of the Ice Plains, the Three Northern Dragons.
Few knew their true origins. In a place like the Noah Continent, legendary strength was enough to dominate. Moreover, they got along well, having grown up together under Garon's dominance, bullied by their elder brother.
Besides them, there was an elderly legendary silver dragon, still standing in his sculpted kingdom, and the island of metallic dragons Garon once visited—all buried in the sandstorm.
In other words, everything and everyone familiar to Garon on the Noah Continent was destroyed along with it.
"Half a year later, my birthplace, the Noah Continent, will be destroyed. Is this targeting me, destroying my birthplace to disgust me, or is it merely collateral damage?"
The dragon pondered silently, his gaze stern.
As a Time Dragon, Garon was nostalgic, never forgetting even a copper coin. He remembered every magical item he had hidden in the crevices of the Noah Continent, planning to retrieve them after centuries to enjoy the stories they carried.
To Garon, the entire Noah Continent was filled with his memories. He would not stand by and watch its destruction.
As for the entity ravaging the Noah Continent, it was the sandstorm engulfing the continent.
It was alive, a primal god.
