Chapter 11: The Ice Demoness’s Decision
Got it. I'll rewrite C
A cold wind blew through the Frozen Lotus Sect's inner courtyard, carrying with it tiny snowflakes that sparkled beneath the moonlight. The entire sect seemed frozen in time, silent and serene, as if nature itself held its breath.
Yet, for Wang Li, the world was anything but peaceful.
He stood face-to-face with Mu Yuechan, the Ice Demoness, his once-beloved—and perhaps most terrifying—ex-girlfriend. Her silver hair glowed under the celestial light, her snow-white robes fluttering slightly as she gazed at him with her signature unreadable expression.
"So… decide."
Her voice was calm, yet beneath that composed exterior, there was something more.
A tension. A challenge.
"Do you want to be part of my life again, or not?"
Wang Li swallowed hard.
His rational mind screamed at him to walk away.
Mu Yuechan was ruthless, obsessive, and notoriously unforgiving. If he even so much as hinted at the wrong answer, he might find himself encased in ice for eternity.
Yet…
There was something about her presence that still held him captive.
Maybe it was the way her blue eyes shimmered, like a frozen lake concealing unfathomable depths.
Maybe it was the faint, almost imperceptible hesitance in her fingers—something only he would have noticed.
Or maybe, just maybe…
Some part of me never really let go.
Silence stretched between them, thick as the winter mist.
Finally, Wang Li exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"…Why are you even asking me this?" he muttered. "I thought you didn't care."
Mu Yuechan's gaze sharpened. "Did you think I would let a man like you leave so easily?"
Wang Li's heartbeat quickened.
Her words were dangerous.
A normal man might have misread them as romantic.
But Wang Li knew better.
Oh no. This is either really good… or really, really bad.
Meanwhile – Just Outside the Room
Three figures crouched just beyond the door, their curiosity overriding their common sense.
Mu Qingling, Mu Yuechan's younger sister, pressed her ear against the wooden door, her silver hair blending almost perfectly with the icy walls. Her bright blue eyes gleamed with mischief.
Lin Ruoyan, the Scorching Sun Saintess, stood beside her, arms crossed, scowling. Her fiery red hair flickered like embers in the dim corridor light. "Tch. What's so special about him?" she whispered, her tone laced with irritation.
The third girl, Feng Yuling, the Fox Demoness, smirked as she twirled a lock of her long purple hair around her fingers. "Oh? Are you jealous, Little Ruoyan?"
Lin Ruoyan twitched. "Jealous?! Of that ice block?!"
Feng Yuling giggled. "Hmm~ But you're listening so intently…"
Mu Qingling ignored their bickering, her voice a hushed whisper. "Shh! I wanna hear his answer!"
Inside the Room – Wang Li's Answer
Wang Li sighed, shifting his weight slightly. "I don't know if I want to be with you again," he admitted. "But I do know one thing—I don't want to be your enemy."
Mu Yuechan's expression didn't change.
But Wang Li, who had once spent countless nights by her side, caught it—a tiny flicker in her gaze, like the briefest crack in unbreakable ice.
Was that relief?
The moment passed as quickly as it came.
"…Hmph." Mu Yuechan turned away, her silver hair cascading like flowing snow. "Very well. Then prove it."
Wang Li frowned. "Prove it?"
She turned back, her icy blue eyes glittering with challenge.
"In three days, our sect's Winter Moon Tournament will begin. If you want to show me that you belong in my world… then fight."
Wang Li's jaw dropped.
Oh, come on!
The Winter Moon Tournament was no joke.
It was an annual event where the most talented disciples of the Frozen Lotus Sect competed in combat. Even the weaker participants had decades of training in ice techniques.
And I've only been in this world for a short while!
He opened his mouth to argue, but Mu Yuechan simply raised a delicate finger.
"If you refuse, I'll assume you're too weak to stand beside me," she said coldly.
Wang Li groaned internally.
Damn it.
Why did she always know exactly how to push his buttons?
Meanwhile – The Eavesdroppers' Reactions
Outside, Mu Qingling pumped her fist in excitement. "Ooooh! This is getting good!"
Lin Ruoyan, on the other hand, gritted her teeth. "Tch. If that idiot joins the tournament, he's gonna die."
Feng Yuling chuckled. "Or maybe…" Her eyes gleamed with amusement. "He'll surprise us all."
Lin Ruoyan scoffed. "As if."
Back Inside the Room – Wang Li's Decision
Wang Li exhaled deeply.
His life had already been thrown into chaos the moment he got reborn into this world.
What was one more insane challenge?
Besides… something tells me I'll never get stronger if I keep running away.
He looked up at Mu Yuechan, who watched him expectantly.
Then, finally, he smirked.
"Alright," he said. "I'll fight."
For the first time that night, Mu Yuechan's lips curled slightly.
Not quite a smile.
But close.
"Good."
A single word, but one that sealed his fate.
Wang Li had just signed up for one of the deadliest tournaments in the Frozen Lotus Sect.
And worse…
His ex-girlfriends would all be watching.
