Chapter 18: Valheim Magic Academy[2]
-"Kyaaah~"
-"Prince Alaric is as handsome as ever!"
-"I bet he got a perfect score easily~"
-"Tsk, just because he's a prince he gets all the attention…"
The cries of a group of NPCs mixed in the hall when the kingdom's charming prince emerged from the Physical Section room.
He had charming blonde hair and clear blue eyes like the sky, combined with a well-built body, no wonder the girls would throw themselves at him without thinking.
Alaric V. Valmont.
The first prince and crown prince of the Kingdom of Valheim and one of the main cast members in the game.
"Oh. Calm down, ladies."
He said with a charming smile and wink, noticing his effect on the innocent girls.
This action caused more girls to scream in infatuation and many men to clench their fists until they turned white in silent anger.
I think all the men agreed to hate him in their hearts…
The poor prince…
Suddenly, I felt Ned trying to shrink and hide behind me, which confused me.
"What's wrong with you, man?"
"Please dig a hole for me." He spoke with a red face and teary eyes, which increased my confusion.
Seriously, what's wrong with him now?
"I did it, Alaric! I did it!"
My confusion was interrupted by the scream of an excited girl who had just emerged from the Magical Section room.
She resembled the handsome prince in her features. From her rich blonde hair to her beautiful blue eyes. With her childish enthusiasm and apparent innocence, she looked like a fairy.
More murmurs spread again, but this time the excited voices of the men overpowered the envious girls.
"You did well, Vivi."
Prince Alaric patted her head with a smile as they walked towards a group of seats where three nobles sat next to each other. They were talking and laughing lively amidst the tense atmosphere of the test, as if it was the last thing on their minds.
The main cast…
Anyway, that cheerful girl earlier was the kingdom's first princess and Alaric's twin.
Viviana V. Valmont.
This girl was not only in the main cast, but she was also the female lead…
When I glanced at Solon, I noticed his gaze fixed on Viviana as if he had fallen in love at first sight.
Due to the intensity of his gaze, Viviana noticed and smiled at him, causing his face to turn completely red and him to try to shrink behind me like Ned.
"…"
I was speechless.
If you can't handle a look from her, why look at her in the first place?
Anyway, from Ned's intensified attempt to hide behind me after the princess appeared, I was sure that the reason for his embarrassment was also related to her.
"A bunch of fucking simps…" I whispered to myself angrily.
"Number 274 for the Scientific Section!"
One of the guards shouted.
I looked at one of the papers in my hand and a devilish smile appeared on my face.
That was my number…
"Nooooo!"
"Selas…"
I ignored Ned's cry and Solon's pleading tone and stood up without hesitation, showing the simps who were behind me to the entire hall, which increased their embarrassment.
All eyes in the hall immediately turned to them because of the noticeable actions they caused.
'You deserve it.'
I thought as I walked confidently towards the Scientific Section testing room.
The last thing I wanted was to be a shield for a bunch of simps.
-"Emo…"
-"Why does he look so gloomy?"
-"I'm afraid he's my type…"
-"Seriously, girl, check your head!"
A vein on my head threatened to explode.
I felt a strong urge to slap these NPCs in the face and disfigure them.
Why do they have to comment on everything, for God's sake?!
'I'm prettier than your supposed prince, you bastards!'
I wanted to shout that, but unfortunately, my current situation didn't help me do that. But I didn't forget to make a silent promise in my heart to return this to them one day.
As I was about to enter the Scientific Section testing room, a boy emerged from the Magical Section testing room.
My steps stopped immediately.
We continued to stare at each other until…
"What?"
His voice came out when he noticed I was still standing staring at him.
He had jet-black hair like mine, combined with beautiful golden eyes that burned like flames in the dark, or they were supposed to.
His eyes were strangely empty and this man was emitting a presence that screamed "get your ass away from me or I'll kick it" without probably realizing it.
He wore a black mix of long-sleeved sportswear and a body-hugging type with elegant black gloves.
'Emo…'
This was Liam Cole.
The main antagonist of the academy arc…
"Move." He spoke coldly.
Only then did I notice that I was blocking his way.
I ignored him and walked towards the testing room without giving him another look.
✦
As soon as I entered the Scientific Section room, I was greeted by the sight of a vast arena filled with scientific equipment and trainee scientists.
On the other side, many tables were placed and there were many students taking the test at the same time.
One of the men in the strange laboratory led me to one of the tables, handing me a set of papers and a pen from his spatial ring.
"Here, your test."
Then he went to do his own things.
'Hmm, what do we have here?'
I flipped through one of the papers to see many mathematical problems and scientific theories. Some of the questions wanted you to deal with certain situations and in general, they were all easy.
This world wasn't much different from most of the novels and games I've played, so all the questions and concepts were very easy if you asked me.
The difficulty of the questions ranged from easy to difficult as I continued to glance at them quickly.
They started like:
-What is the difference between slow poison and instant poison?
-Which is heavier, a liter of water or a liter of iron? And why?
-Which of these herbs is commonly used to treat fever?
And ended like:
-How can a person unable to use magic resist a fire spell?
-If you throw a spear and hit a moving target, what affects the accuracy of the aim?
There were a total of one hundred questions.
Twenty math questions, twenty basic magic questions, twenty simple physics questions, twenty simple herbology and chemistry questions, and twenty magical creature and monster science questions.
I started solving all the questions easily and didn't find them difficult.
After about ten minutes, I called one of the trainee scientists who looked like the test supervisors.
"Are you sure? It's barely been ten minutes since you entered. I advise you to review." He spoke with genuine surprise in his voice.
Scientific Section tests usually take longer than both Physical and Magical Section tests combined.
This was because the Physical Section test would only test the physical limits of the awakened, while the Magical Section would only show the person's affinities and the intensity of the affinities.
Insistently, I pushed the set of papers against his chest and spoke with a smile, "No. I'm sure of my answers already."
"Okay, it's up to you." He shrugged his shoulders and took the papers as he walked away.
Hmm?
As I was leaving, I turned around when I noticed someone giving me an intense look from one of the testing seats.
My lips twisted upwards when I noticed the girl in question giving me an angry look for a stupid reason probably.
Her black hair framed her small head as her gray eyes narrowed in cold disdain.
Seraphina…
This was your usual science-obsessed character, although she was much better than that.
The reason for the glaring look she was giving me was probably because she thought I had taken this test unseriously, which hurt her fragile pride. Not to mention that I, who entered after her, left before her.
Well, screw her…
I didn't linger on her angry face and left the room, which increased the intensity of her look.
I think my sarcastic smile was obvious, huh…
