reincarnated as a powerful dragon

Chapter 9: growing pain and the oracle

As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, I found myself growing stronger and more confident. My training with Father was paying off, and I was becoming more skilled in combat and magic.

But with growth comes change, and I began to feel restless. I felt a stirring inside me, a sense that there was more to life than our small village.

I looked around at my family and friends, feeling a sense of love and loyalty towards them. But I couldn't shake the feeling that I was meant for something more.

Little did I know, my life was about to take a dramatic turn, one that would test my courage, my wits, and my heart.

My muscles are getting bigger, and I'm getting stronger as time passes

As I flexed my claws, my scales glistened in the sunlight, showcasing my growing strength. I could feel the muscles rippling beneath my scales, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride.

Father, a majestic Western dragon with a rugged scalescape, nodded in approval. "You're developing impressive muscle mass, Tharros," he said, his voice deep and rumbling. "Your strength will serve you well in our mountainous terrain."

I beamed with pride, my eyes shining with excitement. I was eager to prove myself, to demonstrate my capabilities and protect my family.

My father spoke, "I don't mind if you still need me if you are scared or shy go to under my wings!" I nodded

I felt a warmth in my chest at Father's words. His wings were a sanctuary, a place where I always felt safe and protected. I nodded, knowing that no matter how strong I grew, I could always count on Father's sheltering wings.

"Thank you, Father," I said, my voice filled with gratitude.

Father smiled, his eyes shining with love and understanding. "Anytime, Tharros. That's what family is for."

At thought, I am still a small baby dragon and not even a 1 year old, yet I can be powerful

I couldn't help but think about how much I'd grown already. I was still just a tiny baby dragon, not even a year old yet. But despite my small size, I could feel the power coursing through my veins. It was exhilarating and a little scary, but mostly it made me feel proud. I was going to be a strong dragon, just like Father.

As I basked in the warmth of Father's words, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. Being a young dragon wasn't always easy, but with Father by my side, I felt like I could conquer anything.

Just then, Lyrixa and Kaidorix burst into the clearing, their scales fluttering with excitement. "Tharros, Tharros!" Lyrixa squealed. "We found something amazing!"

I perked up, my curiosity piqued. "What is it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Kaidorix grinned mischievously. "You'll have to come see for yourself," he said, beckoning me to follow him.

I exchanged a glance with Father, who nodded encouragingly. "Go ahead, Tharros," he said. "Explore and have fun."

With that, I took off after Lyrixa and Kaidorix, eager to see what wonders they had discovered. Little did I know, our adventure was only just beginning...

We wound our way through the forest, Lyrixa and Kaidorix leading the way. They chattered excitedly, their scales glinting in the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees.

As we walked, the forest grew denser, the trees becoming taller and the underbrush thicker. I had to push aside branches and fight my way through thorny vines, but Lyrixa and Kaidorix seemed to know exactly where they were going.

Finally, we burst into a clearing, and I gasped in amazement. Before us lay a glittering waterfall, cascading down a rocky slope into a crystal-clear pool.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix grinned at me, their eyes shining with excitement. "We found it yesterday," Lyrixa said, "and we couldn't wait to show you."

I stared at the waterfall, mesmerized by the shimmering water and the rainbows dancing in the mist. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

And then, without warning, I felt an overwhelming urge to jump into the pool, to feel the cool water envelop me and wash away my worries.

But as I took a step forward, I felt a voice in my head, cautioning me to be careful. It was Father's voice, reminding me to always think before acting.

I hesitated, my desire to jump into the pool warring with my need to be cautious. What would I do?

I spoke, "I don't think we should be here!"

Lyrixa and Kaidorix exchanged a confused glance. "What do you mean, Tharros?" Lyrixa asked, her voice tinged with disappointment. "We just got here."

I hesitated, unsure of how to explain the sudden feeling of unease that had settled over me. "I don't know," I said finally. "It just feels... wrong."

Kaidorix frowned, his ears folding back in concern. "Do you think it's not safe?" he asked.

As we made our way back through the forest, the feeling of being watched persisted. I kept looking over my shoulder, expecting to see something lurking in the shadows.

But every time, there was nothing.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix seemed to sense my unease, and they stuck close to me, their eyes scanning the surroundings nervously.

Finally, we emerged from the forest and saw the familiar outline of our mountain in the distance.

I breathed a sigh of relief as we quickened our pace, eager to get back to the safety of our home.

But as we approached the mountain, I noticed something strange. The entrance to our cave was slightly ajar, and I could have sworn that I had closed it before we left.

A shiver ran down my spine as I pushed open the entrance and called out, "Father?"

I nodded, my scales prickling with anxiety. "I think we should go back," I said firmly.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix looked at each other uncertainly, then back at me. Finally, they nodded in agreement. "Okay, Tharros," Lyrixa said. "We'll go back."

As we turned to leave, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. I glanced around the clearing, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Still, the feeling persisted, and I quickened my pace, eager to get back to the safety of our mountain.

A shiver ran down my spine as I pushed open the entrance and called out, "Father?"

There was no answer.

I exchanged a nervous glance with Lyrixa and Kaidorix, and then we stepped inside the cave, our eyes adjusting to the dim light.

The cave was quiet and still, and I could feel a sense of unease settling over me.

"Father?" I called out again, my voice louder this time.

But there was still no answer.

Can it be... Father?

I took a cautious step forward, my eyes fixed on the darkness beyond the entrance.

The rustling grew louder, and I could sense movement, the sound of scales scraping against rock.

My heart pounded in my chest as a figure emerged from the shadows.

It was Father, but he looked... different.

His scales were dull and dusty, and his eyes seemed sunken, as if he hadn't slept in days.

"Father?" I whispered, my voice trembling with worry.

Father's gaze locked onto mine, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of recognition.

But then, his eyes seemed to glaze over, and he stumbled forward, as if he was struggling to stay upright.

I began to feel a sense of panic rising up inside me. Where was Father? And why was the cave so quiet?

Lyrixa and Kaidorix seemed to sense my fear, and they moved closer to me, their eyes wide with worry.

Suddenly, I heard a faint rustling sound coming from deeper in the cave.

My heart skipped a beat as I turned to face the sound, my scales bristling with anxiety.

What was coming our way?

I rushed to Father's side, alarm coursing through my veins. "Father, what's wrong?" I asked, trying to support him.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix gathered around us, their faces etched with concern.

Father's eyes fluttered open, and he gazed at me with a faint smile. "Tharros... my son," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

I felt a surge of fear. What was happening to Father?

Suddenly, Father's body began to tremble, and he let out a low, rumbling growl. His scales started to shift, changing color before our very eyes.

"Father, no!" I cried, terrified. "What's happening to you?"

I gazed at Father, my heart racing with fear. Despite his weakened state, he looked at me with a fierce determination in his eyes. "Tharros... my son," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "You must... find... the Oracle."

I leaned in closer, my ears perked up. "The Oracle?" I repeated, unsure what he meant. "What do you mean, Father?"

But Father didn't respond. Instead, he closed his eyes, and his body went limp. I panicked, thinking the worst. But then, I felt a faint heartbeat, and I realized Father was still alive... for now.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. What did Father mean by "the Oracle"? And how was I supposed to find it? I looked at Lyrixa and Kaidorix, hoping they might know something, but they seemed just as confused as I was.

Here's the continuation:

I gently shook Father's shoulder, trying to rouse him. "Father, please wake up," I whispered, my voice trembling.

But Father didn't stir. His chest rose and fell with shallow breaths, and his scales seemed dull and lifeless.

I looked up at Lyrixa and Kaidorix, feeling a sense of desperation. "We have to do something," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

Lyrixa nodded, her eyes wide with worry. "We need to find Mother," she said. "She'll know what to do."

Kaidorix nodded in agreement. "Let's go," he said, already turning to leave.

I hesitated, unsure about leaving Father's side. But Lyrixa and Kaidorix were right – we needed to find Mother.

With a deep breath, I stood up and followed my siblings out of the cave, leaving Father behind.

It took us like 14 minutes to find her, and she was with Lyriath and Vyraxys the whole time

We finally found Mother in a secluded clearing, surrounded by Lyriath and Vyraxys. She was teaching them some sort of intricate scale pattern, and they were both watching intently.

As we approached, Mother looked up and sensed something was wrong. "What is it, Tharros?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.

I took a deep breath and tried to explain. "Father... he's hurt. We found him in the cave, and he was talking about the Oracle... and then he just collapsed."

Mother's expression changed from concern to alarm. "Take me to him," she said, already turning to leave.

Lyriath and Vyraxys exchanged worried glances, but Mother reassured them. "Stay here, my sons. I'll take care of your father."

With that, Mother followed us back to the cave, her pace swift and urgent.

As we entered the cave, Mother rushed to Father's side, her eyes scanning his limp form. She gently touched his scales, and a soft hum filled the air.

"What happened?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

I recounted everything, from finding Father in the cave to his mysterious words about the Oracle. Mother listened intently, her expression growing graver with each passing moment.

When I finished, Mother closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. The light enveloped Father's body, and I could sense a gentle, pulsing energy emanating from it.

"What are you doing, Mother?" Lyrixa asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mother opened her eyes, which shone with a deep, inner light. "I'm trying to stabilize his energy," she explained. "Whatever afflicted him, it's clear that he's been drained of his life force."

Kaidorix frowned. "Will he be okay?"

Mother's expression turned somber. "I don't know, my son. I'll do everything in my power to help him, but... I fear that his fate may be tied to the Oracle he spoke of."

A shiver ran down my spine. What did Mother mean? And what was this Oracle that Father had mentioned?

Mother's words hung in the air, leaving us all with more questions than answers. I looked at Lyrixa and Kaidorix, and saw the same concern reflected in their eyes.

"What's the Oracle, Mother?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

Mother's gaze turned inward, as if she was searching for the right words. "The Oracle is an ancient being," she began, "one who possesses knowledge and power beyond our understanding."

Mother's eyes seemed to cloud over, lost in thought. "We need to find the Oracle," she repeated, her voice firm. "It's the only way to understand what's happening to your father."

I nodded, determination rising within me. "I'll go," I said. "I'll find the Oracle and bring back the answers."

Lyrixa and Kaidorix stepped forward, their faces set with resolve. "We're coming with you," Lyrixa said.

Mother's gaze swept over us, a mix of concern and pride on her face. "Very well," she said. "But be careful. The journey will be treacherous, and the darkness is growing stronger by the day."

With that, we set off towards the unknown, driven by our quest to save Father and uncover the secrets of the Oracle. Little did we know, the darkness was watching, waiting for its chance to strike...

Lyriath and Vyraxys appeared at the entrance of the cave, their faces etched with worry. "Mother, what's happening?" Lyriath asked.

Mother's expression turned grave. "Your father has been afflicted by a dark force," she explained. "One that threatens to consume him whole."

Vyraxys took a step forward, his eyes flashing with anger. "We won't let that happen," he growled.

Mother's gaze swept over us all, her eyes shining with a deep sadness. "I fear it may already be too late," she whispered.

A cold dread crept over me, as if the darkness itself was closing in. What did Mother mean? Was Father really beyond saving?

Mother's eyes seemed to cloud over, lost in thought. "We need to find the Oracle," she repeated, her voice firm. "It's the only way to understand what's happening to your father."

I nodded, determination rising within me. "I'll go," I said. "I'll find the Oracle and bring back the answers."

Lyrixa and Kaidorix stepped forward, their faces set with resolve. "We're coming with you," Lyrixa said.

With that, we set off towards the unknown, driven by our quest to save Father and uncover the secrets of the Oracle. Little did we know, the darkness was watching, waiting for its chance to strike...

As we journeyed deeper into the heart of the land, the air grew thick with an eerie, unnatural silence. The trees seemed to twist and writhe, their branches like grasping fingers. Every step felt heavy, as if the very ground itself was resisting our progress.

Lyrixa walked beside me, her eyes scanning the surroundings with a mixture of fear and determination. Kaidorix brought up the rear, his senses on high alert for any sign of danger.

Suddenly, Lyrixa grabbed my arm, her grip tight. "Tharros, look," she whispered, pointing ahead.

A figure stood in the distance, shrouded in shadows. Its presence seemed to draw the very light out of the air, leaving only an oppressive darkness in its wake.

My heart sank. Could this be the Oracle we sought, or something far more sinister?

I scream, "MOTHER! COMEOVER HERE PLS HURRY!"

Mother rushed towards us, her eyes scanning the area with a mix of concern and alarm. "What is it, Tharros?" she asked, her voice firm but laced with worry.

I pointed towards the figure, my hand shaking slightly. "That... thing," I whispered. "I don't know what it is."

Mother's gaze locked onto the figure, and her expression turned grave. "Stay back, children," she warned, her voice low and urgent. "I'll handle this."

With that, Mother strode forward, her scales glinting in the fading light. The figure didn't move, but I could sense its gaze fixed on Mother, watching her approach...

Mother spoke, "These things main weakness is light!"

Mother's words were barely out of her mouth when she summoned a brilliant burst of light from her scales. The radiance illuminated the darkening landscape, casting an ethereal glow over the twisted trees.

The figure recoiled, covering its face with a shadowy appendage. It let out a blood-curdling screech, the sound like nothing I'd ever heard before.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix stumbled backward, their eyes wide with fear. I stood frozen, unsure what to do.

Mother, however, stood firm, her light shining brighter still. "Come, children," she called out. "We must press on. The Oracle awaits."

But as we began to move forward, the figure suddenly vanished into thin air. The darkness seemed to swallow it whole, leaving behind an unsettling feeling that we were being watched...

Mother's light faltered for a moment, as if she was uncertain what to do next. Then, she nodded to herself and began to move forward once more.

"Stay close, children," she warned, her voice low and urgent. "We don't know what other dangers may be lurking in the shadows."

We followed Mother, our senses on high alert for any sign of movement. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel the weight of the darkness pressing in around us.

As we walked, the trees seemed to grow taller and the shadows deeper. I stumbled, my foot catching on a hidden root.

Lyrixa caught my arm, her eyes wide with fear. "Tharros, look!" she whispered.

I followed her gaze, and my heart sank. Ahead of us, a figure stood waiting. Its eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and its presence seemed to draw the very life force out of the air.

"Mother," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I think we've found the Oracle."

We arrived at the oracle, and Mother destroyed it with no problem. She knew how to deal with something like this

Mother's expression was serene as she approached the Oracle. Her scales glowed with a soft, pulsing light, and her eyes seemed to bore into the very soul of the Oracle.

Without hesitation, Mother raised a claw and struck the Oracle with a burst of radiant energy. The Oracle let out a deafening screech as its form began to dissipate, its dark energy unraveling like threads pulled from a tapestry.

In mere moments, the Oracle was no more, its presence erased from the world. Mother's light faded, and she turned to us with a warm, reassuring smile.

"It's done," she said, her voice gentle. "The Oracle's darkness will no longer threaten our world."

I felt a wave of relief wash over me, followed by a sense of awe at Mother's power and wisdom. She had known exactly how to deal with the Oracle, and her confidence had been inspiring.

But as we stood there, basking in the aftermath of Mother's victory, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. The darkness was still out there, waiting to strike...

Mother spoke, "Let me explain to you what is an oracle!"

Mother's expression turned thoughtful, and she began to explain, "An Oracle is a being that serves as a vessel for the darkness. It's a creature that has been consumed by the darkness, allowing it to speak through them and spread its influence."

She paused, studying us to make sure we understood. "Oracles are not inherently evil, but they are dangerous because they can manipulate and deceive others into serving the darkness."

Lyrixa frowned, confusion etched on her face. "But why would the darkness want to manipulate others?"

Mother's gaze turned solemn. "The darkness seeks to spread its influence and control over all living things. It feeds on fear, chaos, and destruction. By manipulating others, it can bring about its desired outcome."

Kaidorix's eyes narrowed. "And what about Father? Is he... is he an Oracle now?"

Mother's expression softened, and she placed a reassuring hand on Kaidorix's shoulder. "No, my child. Your father is not an Oracle. He has been afflicted by the darkness, but he is still himself. We will find a way to save him, I promise."

Mother's words brought a mix of relief and determination to our faces. We knew that saving Father wouldn't be easy, but we were willing to try.

"Now that we've dealt with the Oracle," Mother said, "we need to focus on finding the source of the darkness. It's the only way to save your father and restore balance to our world."

Lyrixa's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "But how do we find the source?"

Mother's gaze turned inward, as if she was searching for answers within herself. "I have an idea," she said finally. "We need to seek out the ancient being known as Erebusor."

Kaidorix's brow furrowed. "Erebusor? I've never heard of him."

Mother's expression turned solemn. "Few have. Erebusor is a god who has been hiding in the shadows for eons. He possesses knowledge about the darkness that could aid us in our quest."

I felt a surge of excitement mixed with trepidation. We were about to embark on a perilous journey to find a mysterious god. What lay ahead?

Mother's words brought a mix of relief and determination to our faces. We knew that saving Father wouldn't be easy, but we were willing to try.

"Now that we've dealt with the Oracle," Mother said, "we need to focus on finding the source of the darkness. It's the only way to save your father and restore balance to our world."

Lyrixa's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "But how do we find the source?"

Mother's eyes seemed to gleam with determination. "We'll need to be careful on our journey. The darkness will try to stop us, and we don't know what other dangers lie ahead."

Lyrixa nodded, her face set with resolve. "We'll face whatever comes our way. We have to save Father."

Kaidorix and I nodded in agreement. Together, we set off towards the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

We rushed to check on father

We rushed back to the cave, our hearts racing with anticipation. As we entered the chamber where Father lay, I could see that his condition hadn't changed. He still lay motionless, his scales dull and lifeless.

Mother rushed to his side, her eyes scanning his body for any sign of improvement. She placed a hand on his forehead, and her eyes closed as if she was focusing her energy.

After a moment, Mother's eyes opened, and she looked up at us. "He's still trapped in the darkness," she said, her voice laced with concern. "But I sense that he's fighting back. He's not giving up."

I felt a surge of hope at her words. If Father was fighting back, then there was still a chance to save him. We just had to find a way to reach him, to pull him back from the brink of darkness.

Mother nudges him to see if he will respond

Thyriatrix gently nudged Aetherius' shoulder, her eyes fixed on his face. "Aetherius, can you hear me?" she whispered, her voice soft and urgent.

At first, there was no response. Aetherius' body remained still, his eyes closed as if in sleep.

But then, something flickered. Aetherius' eyelids twitched, and his chest rose slightly as he took a shallow breath.

Thyriatrix's eyes lit up with hope. "Aetherius, come back to us," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

I held my breath, watching as Aetherius' eyes slowly opened. His gaze was unfocused, his pupils constricted as if he was staring into a bright light.

But then, something shifted. Aetherius' gaze locked onto Thyriatrix's face, and a faint glimmer of recognition sparked in his eyes.

Father spoke that it came out as a whisper, "Please save me." he closed his eyes again

Thyriatrix's face contorted in a mix of sadness and determination. She grasped Aetherius' hand, her voice barely above a whisper. "We will, my love. We'll do everything in our power to save you."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I watched the scene unfold. Father's words had been a desperate plea, a cry for help from the depths of his own darkness.

Lyrixa and Kaidorix stood frozen, their eyes wide with worry. We all knew that time was running out. We had to act fast if we wanted to save Father.

Thyriatrix looked up at us, her eyes burning with resolve. "We need to find a way to purify him," she said, her voice firm. "To drive the darkness out of his soul."

But how? The question echoed in my mind like a challenge. We had to find a way, no matter what it took. Father's life depended on it.

Mother uses her light elements on Father to recover him as much as possible

Thyriatrix placed her hands on Aetherius' chest, and a warm, golden light began to emanate from her scales. The light enveloped Father's body, and I could see the darkness within him begin to recoil.

The light intensified, and Father's body started to glow with a soft, pulsing radiance. Thyriatrix's eyes shone with concentration as she poured her energy into Father.

Slowly but surely, Father's color began to return, and his breathing steadied. The darkness within him seemed to be receding, pushed back by the power of Thyriatrix's light.

As the light faded, Father's eyes flickered open once more. This time, they seemed clearer, more focused. He looked up at Thyriatrix, and a faint smile crossed his lips.

"Thank you," he whispered, his voice weak but full of gratitude.

Thyriatrix smiled back, her eyes shining with tears. "You're not out of the woods yet," she said, "but we'll get you through this. Together."

Mother looked at us and spoke, "Your father needs some rest!"

Thyriatrix's gaze swept over us, her expression softening. "Your father needs some rest," she repeated. "Let's give him some space and let him recover."

Lyrixa and Kaidorix nodded in agreement, and we all backed away from Father's bedside. I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Father was going to be okay.

Thyriatrix turned to us, her eyes serious. "We'll need to take turns keeping watch over him. The darkness could try to return at any moment."

I nodded, feeling a sense of responsibility wash over me. I would do whatever it took to protect Father and help him recover.

Lyrixa spoke up, "I'll take the first watch. I'll make sure Father is safe."

Thyriatrix nodded, a small smile on her face. "Thank you, Lyrixa. I'll relieve you in a few hours."

Kaidorix yawned, "I'm going to get some rest. I'll take a watch later."

I nodded, feeling a bit tired myself. "I'll stay with Lyrixa for a bit. Make sure Father is okay."

Thyriatrix nodded, "Very well. Get some rest when you can. We don't know what tomorrow will bring."

With that, Thyriatrix headed off to rest, leaving Lyrixa and me to keep watch over Father.

Even though my younger siblings and I are Sextuplets and a not yet 1 year old yet

I looked over at Lyrixa, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor, her eyes fixed intently on Father. I was amazed at how grown-up she seemed, despite being only a few months shy of our first birthday.

As sextuplets, Lyrixa, Kaidorix, and I, along with our three other siblings, Tharros, Valtor, and Nyxoria, were always getting into mischief. But in this moment, Lyrixa seemed so serious and responsible.

I crawled over to Lyrixa and sat down beside her, looking up at Father with wide eyes. We sat there in silence, watching over Father as he slept.

As I sat there, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the world around me. Everything was so new and exciting, and I was eager to explore it all.

But for now, I was content to simply sit with Lyrixa and watch over Father. It was a quiet, peaceful moment, and I felt grateful to be a part of it.

As the hours passed, Thyriatrix returned to relieve Lyrixa of her watch. I yawned, feeling sleepy, and Lyrixa scooped me up in her arms.

"Time for bed, little one," she whispered, carrying me off to our sleeping quarters.

I snuggled into my bed, feeling safe and content. Despite the dangers that lurked outside, I knew that I was protected here, surrounded by my family.

And with that thought, I drifted off to sleep.
