Chapter 85: Chapter 082: Confronting the Tailed Beast
Chapter 082: Confronting the Tailed Beast
Phew, this is quite a predicament.
I took a deep breath, surveying the surroundings. What I saw was utter devastation and desolation. The neatly arranged barracks had turned into ruins. Scattered corpses lay on the ground, a grim mix of both Sand and Leaf ninja.
The brutality and severity of war were laid bare before me. But there was no time to dwell on such thoughts; I was focused on finding my beautiful teacher.
Finally, in a corner of the wreckage, I spotted Tsunade. In an instant, I flashed to her side. "Teacher, your situation seems a bit dire."
Dire was an understatement; Tsunade looked positively bedraggled. Her once fair and beautiful face was smeared with soot, and her clothes were tattered, revealing visible bloodstains. For a woman who cared about her appearance, this was simply unacceptable. Yet, Tsunade seemed to be ignoring her condition, entirely focused on the enemy before her. When she heard my voice, she merely glanced at me and nodded slightly. "You're back; that's good..."
The formidable opponent standing before her could not be underestimated. It was none other than her old nemesis, Chiyo, along with her brother, the infamous Kurotsuchi.
Though Kurotsuchi was merely a side character, he was still a shadow-level ninja. Facing Chiyo alone was already challenging enough for Tsunade, so it wasn't surprising that she found herself in this predicament with the added pressure from Kurotsuchi.
However, I wasn't worried about my teacher being overwhelmed. I knew her capabilities too well. With her mastery of Yang Release, she could easily brush off these minor injuries. I spoke softly, "Teacher, is there anything you need help with? Just give the order!"
This little brat, pretending not to know!
Tsunade shot me an annoyed look, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yes! Go deal with that tailed beast. Can you manage that?"
Of course, Tsunade didn't actually expect me to face off against a tailed beast. It was more about her frustration with my casual attitude, as if I didn't care enough about her.
But I seemed to miss the subtle undertones in her words. After a moment's hesitation, I said, "I'll give it a try," and with that, I vanished without a trace.
Huh?
Tsunade froze in shock, her expression filled with disbelief. This little brat is so dense! Didn't he realize I was joking? He's really going? Is he trying to get himself killed?
In an instant, regret and worry flooded her heart. She suddenly recognized that her feelings towards this little brat were more complicated than mere teacher-student affection.
I have to stop him!
Thinking this, Tsunade turned to chase after me.
But at that moment, several white figures appeared before her. Each of them wore white garments, their appearances bizarre. Some had two horns, others a single eye, and all bore the "gate" character etched onto their foreheads—Chiyo's trump card, the Ten Puppets of Konoha.
"It's not time for you to leave yet, Tsunade-hime," Chiyo said coldly, her fingers entwined with chakra threads, fixing her gaze on Tsunade. "You'll stay here until our base is completely destroyed."
Damn it!
Tsunade's eyes darkened, her fists clenched tightly. After a moment, she managed to relax her grip and shouted, "Yin Seal: Release!"
...
...
Rumbling.
The battlefield was engulfed in chaos, dust swirling everywhere as the tailed beast rampaged.
Shukaku's every movement wreaked havoc, akin to a natural disaster, causing unimaginable destruction to Konoha's defensive forces and the facilities within the camp.
Despite this, a number of Konoha's ninja still attempted to confront the tailed beast with their powers.
"Fire Release: Fireball Technique!"
"Wind Release: Wind Cutter!"
"Water Release: Water Bullet!"
Various jutsu flew toward Shukaku, hitting its massive body like raindrops but failing to leave even a splash, let alone inflict any real damage.
Not only that, the attacks, which seemed like mere tickles to Shukaku, only served to provoke its wrath further. With a ferocious roar, Shukaku spun around, ready to teach these insignificant insects a painful lesson.
Hiss.
Taking a deep breath, Shukaku opened its mouth and struck its belly.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere!"
A massive, translucent sphere erupted from its mouth, filled with powerful wind chakra, shooting toward the Konoha ninjas like a missile.
"Watch out, move!"
"Retreat! Retreat!"
Panic swept through the Konoha forces as they scattered in all directions. But a few young ninja seemed frozen in fear, staring wide-eyed as the sphere hurtled toward them, eyes filled with despair.
Just then, a small white figure appeared before them in an instant, hands forming seals.
"Water Release: Water Barrier!"
With a crash, a wave of azure water erupted, surrounding them in a swirling, massive shield.
