Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Preparations for War.

Over the past two months, I had been immersed in intense training, perfecting my chakra control and expanding its range. But beyond chakra, my focus had shifted to something even deeper: vital energy. Drawing inspiration from a character in my past life, someone called Goku or Kakarot, I dedicated myself to meditation and concentration, trying to sense energy not just within myself but in my surroundings.

After a month of practice, I finally succeeded one day. The world around me appeared as a map of colored stars. Each energy had a distinct hue, a unique feeling. It was then that I noticed unusual things: strange energies at the Root base, which I assumed corresponded to experiments with Hashirama's cells, and presences underground near the Academy. "White Zetsus," I thought immediately. That discovery led me to make a decision: I needed to inform Fugaku that I was now a sensor. This could be the key to joining more important missions in the war.

Upon reaching the Uchiha mansion, I knocked on the door. It was Mikoto who opened it, her gentle smile lighting up the atmosphere. I was momentarily stunned; I couldn't deny how beautiful she was.

"Yes? What do you need?" she asked kindly.

I shook my head to snap out of my daze and replied,

"I need to speak with Mr. Fugaku."

"He's busy speaking with the Third Hokage," she explained. "If you'd like, you can tell me the reason, or you can wait." Her warm smile disarmed me a bit.

"I'll wait, Ms. Mikoto."

"If you'd like, come in. Don't stay outside."

I nodded gratefully and stepped inside. I sat on the couch as she returned to the kitchen. From there, I could hear her humming softly while cooking. There was something incredibly comforting about her presence, a maternal calmness I hadn't felt in a long time.

Suddenly, she broke the silence.

"Hey, what's your name, by the way?"

"My name is Arata, Ms. Mikoto."

She let out a small exclamation.

"Oh, Arata... I think I know who you are. You're the boy Fugaku found by the lake, aren't you?"

I nodded with a slight blush.

"Yes, that's right."

"Tell me, Arata, why do you want to speak with Fugaku?"

"I want to tell him that I'm a sensor," I replied firmly.

Her expression changed. Although she remained kind, I noticed a shadow of concern in her eyes.

"Really? That's very valuable, Arata," she said softly, stepping a little closer. "But if you tell Fugaku, you'll have to go to the ninja war. You're too young... you should stay here, where it's safe."

I appreciated her concern, but my decision was already made.

"Thank you for worrying, Ms. Mikoto, but I've already decided."

She sighed, though she didn't seem upset—just worried.

"You're a determined boy, aren't you?" she remarked with a smile that seemed to mix pride and sadness. "Alright, Arata. Just promise me you'll be careful."

"I promise," I replied with a slight bow.

As I waited for Fugaku, I couldn't help but think about Mikoto's warmth. It was easy to understand why the Uchiha family respected her so much. She wasn't just a loving mother but also someone who genuinely cared for others, even for someone like me, whom she barely knew.

Mikoto was in the living room, finishing the meal she was preparing, when someone knocked on the door. With her usual kindness, she walked over and opened it. On the other side stood Fugaku, who, upon crossing the threshold, greeted his wife with a warm, loving gesture—a rarity for someone as serious as him.

"Fugaku, welcome," Mikoto said with a slight smile, welcoming him with her characteristic sweetness. Then she pointed toward me. "By the way, Arata came to see you."

I quickly stood up and greeted him with a small bow.

"Hello, Mr. Fugaku."

He looked at me with his usual calm yet firm expression.

"Arata, what do you need today?"

I cleared my throat and replied,

"Mr. Fugaku, I wanted to tell you that I've been sensing the chakra of several people in Konoha over the past week."

His gaze changed slightly, showing a faint glimmer of surprise.

"You're a sensor?" he murmured, more as a statement than a question. He paused, thoughtful, before continuing. "Hmm… Arata, I don't like the idea of sending young people to the ninja war, but that ability would be very useful for a squad."

Fugaku turned to Mikoto and spoke in a more serious tone, as if preparing her for something he had already decided.

"By the way, in two months, several members of the clan and, more importantly, the police force will have to leave."

Mikoto looked at him with a mix of concern and sadness, momentarily setting aside her usual demeanor.

"You too, Fugaku?" she asked in an almost pleading tone, as if seeking some exception.

Fugaku nodded solemnly.

"Yes, Mikoto. We've been ordered to set up a camp to ambush strategic enemy points."

Silence filled the room. Mikoto carefully placed the cup she held in her hands on the table, not taking her eyes off Fugaku. Worry was evident on her face—not just for him but also for the dangers the clan would face. Finally, she sighed, and though her voice still carried unease, she tried to show understanding.

"Then please, Fugaku, be very careful."

Fugaku nodded, though his gaze remained fixed on a distant point, as if already planning the necessary moves. I stayed silent, feeling the weight of the responsibility falling on all of us, but also determined to prove that I could be useful in what lay ahead.

After saying goodbye to Fugaku and Mikoto, who responded with their typical serenity, I decided to take a walk outside the Uchiha compound. I arrived at Ichiraku, where I ordered a bowl of ramen. As I ate, the whispers of the people around me caught my attention. My gaze shifted to where everyone was looking, and there stood Sakumo Hatake.

The first thing I noticed was his posture. There wasn't a trace of the despair I remembered; his eyes reflected a small but unshakable will. He didn't lower his head in the face of the people's stares. His presence stood out as always, but now with a renewed tone. When he noticed me, he greeted me with a smile.

"Arata, how are you?" he said in a friendly tone, true to his character.

I responded naturally,

"I'm good, and you?"

Sakumo let out a small laugh.

"Hmm... It was my decision, after all," he commented with a calm air, though his gaze held a glimmer of acceptance.

My smile grew at his words. In my mind, I thought: Well done, Sakumo. Just a small change was enough for you not to make that decision. I hope Kakashi can grow stronger under your guidance.

However, Sakumo pulled me out of my thoughts with a comment that took me by surprise.

"You were right, Arata."

I looked at him curiously and asked,

"About what?"

Sakumo lowered his voice a bit, as if speaking more to himself than to me.

"People wouldn't accept that I failed, even if it was for making the right decision. I saved my comrades, and yet they began to judge me."

I observed him closely, sensing the mix of pain and acceptance in his words. I decided to speak frankly.

"So what will you do? It doesn't matter what others think. You're powerful, Sakumo. The Will of Fire clearly states: do what you believe is right for the village. Besides, look—you still have a son who needs you to care for and guide him. Don't worry about what others say. To me, you're a hero."

Sakumo looked at me, surprised. His eyes reflected gratitude, and his tone, though serene, showed a slight tremble of emotion.

"Thank you, Arata. Truly, thank you."

I finished my bowl of ramen and stood up, bidding him farewell with a smile.

"See you, Sakumo. It was a pleasure talking to you."

Sakumo nodded, his expression kind yet resolute.

"The same to you, Arata. We'll see each other again soon."

As I walked away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Even if the world judged him, Sakumo Hatake was not alone in his fight. I knew his strength and determination would inspire those who truly mattered.

Over the last two months, I had focused entirely on my training, preparing for the war ahead. After a conversation with Fugaku, I decided to concentrate my energy on developing new elemental jutsus, this time with a different approach: creating them without relying on hand signs.

Day after day, without rest, I practiced my chakra control, pushing my limits. After arduous effort, I managed to incorporate two new jutsus into my arsenal. The first, Vortex of Wind, generates a small force similar to a black hole that pulls in enemies, causing them damage with cuts emerging from the vortex itself. The second, Kamino Fuga, allows me to generate flames between my hands, molding them into a fiery arrow that, when shot, explodes into a blazing pillar covering a wide range. Although these jutsus might appear to result from hand seals, they are actually based solely on my advanced chakra control. It was then that I understood something crucial: this body possesses a natural talent for mastering chakra exceptionally.

One day remained before departing for war. I decided to spend that moment of calm sitting atop the Hokage Monuments, gazing at the horizon. I activated my Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan as a burning determination arose within me.

"From now on, they'll witness my will to survive this war. Nothing will stop me!" I told myself, feeling that the weight of my decisions and sacrifices only strengthened me further.
