Chapter 227: A Bowl of Fish Soup!

After cleaning the fish, El gathered the other ingredients available in the cave kitchen. Some simple seasonings such as salt, pepper, fresh ginger, and scallions were neatly arranged on the stone table.

In addition, El took out a small carrot as well as some celery stalks that were stored in Sky Pear Poison, keeping them fresh despite the cave environment.

El turned to the previously used fireplace, but instead of lighting firewood, he chose a more practical way.

Calmly, El gathered the Dou Qi energy in his body and snapped his fingers. In the next second, flames appeared, burning the air to a temperature sufficient for cooking.

This fire looked ordinary, without any special uniqueness or color because the Path of Poem, the cultivation method he was undergoing, did not have any particular elemental affinity.

Actually, El had considered using the Zixuan Spirit Flame, a much more powerful and efficient Heavenly Flame, to cook the food.

In his view, leaving such a powerful flame unused was a waste. However, this always left Xiao Yan and Yao Chen shaking their heads, seeing how casually El used extraordinary strength for such a trivial matter.

Perhaps out of annoyance, Yao Chen finally passed a suggestion through Xiao Yan, asking El to stop using the Heavenly Flame for daily purposes and hide its existence.

Upon consideration, El realized the risk involved, if the flame became known to others, he could become a target for those who wanted to take advantage of his strength.

Given that Yao Chen's experience and understanding of the Heavenly Flame was much deeper, El finally followed his advice and decided to hide the flame.

The method Yao Chen instructed was to separate the fire from the Dantian in the body, a very precise move to prevent the fire from being detected.

As a result, the Dou Qi Cyclone rotating inside El's body also emitted a milky white light, a sign that the heavenly fire had been hidden within him.

After the fire was burning steadily, El took an iron pot and poured in clean water from the cave spring.

With calm movements, El placed the pot on a simple stand that was already in place, then waited for the water to start heating up.

As the water began to warm up, El took a few pieces of fresh ginger, sliced them thinly, then dropped them into the pot.

The warm aroma of ginger soon wafts out, slowly driving away any fishy odors that may remain. El then added a pinch of salt and pepper, allowing the spices to dissolve in the water, creating a rich broth base.

The fresh scent of ginger mixed with spices began to spread within the cave, warming the atmosphere.

Xiao Yan, who had finished treating Yun Yun, calmly put the medicine bottles back into his Storage Ring. However, his eyes occasionally glanced at El, who was still busy with his soup.

On the other side, Yun Yun, who was now wearing the black robe Xiao Yan had given her, lay down to rest. Although her body still felt weak, the tantalizing aroma of the soup slowly attracted her attention.

At a glance, Yun Yun glanced at El and the cooking soup, her eyes emitting a hint of interest even though her face remained flat.

On the other hand, once the water began to boil, El carefully put in the cleaned fish pieces. Raising his hand, El made a seal, by folding all the fingers, leaving the index and middle fingers upright.

In the next second, the fire made of Dou Qi burns even hotter as El increases the intensity of the heat to cook it quickly, but does not change the flavor.

The fish meat slowly turns a soft white color, while the boiling broth begins to give off the distinctive aroma of fresh fish mixed with spices.

Waiting a while for the fish to be fully cooked, El then added sliced carrots and neatly cut celery stalks.

The vegetables sank slowly into the soup, giving it a bright color and adding freshness to the taste. The rich aroma of the soup filled the room, adding to the warmth of the cave that served as their refuge.

Before finishing the soup, El chopped the leeks quickly and sprinkled them into the pot as a finishing touch.

The fresh scent of the leeks immediately mingled with the already rich broth, adding to the deliciousness of the dish.

To confirm the flavor, El took a wooden spoon from Sky Pearl Poison and tasted a bit of the broth. After sensing the right balance of flavors, he nodded in satisfaction.

The simple yet fragrant fish soup was now ready to be served. Hot steam billowed from its surface, carrying a warm, appetizing aroma.

Calmly, El took out a few wooden bowls from Sky Pearl Poison and poured the soup into three equally portioned bowls.

El also took out a wooden tray to arrange the bowls, complete with three wooden spoons on top.

Once everything was ready, El carried the tray and walked towards Xiao Yan and Yun Yun. He placed it near them with a quiet gesture before sitting cross-legged.

"Eat before it gets cold," he said briefly. "If you want more, feel free."

Xiao Yan, who had been patiently waiting for the soup to cook since earlier, gave a small smile and nodded. Carefully, Xiao Yan picked up one of the bowls from the tray and handed it to Yun Yun.

"Dajie, please eat," he said, offering politely. "Ji Lan's cooking is quite good like that of a restaurant, even though we are in the middle of the forest."

On the other side, Yun Yun who was still lying down earlier was now awake. She received the soup bowl from Xiao Yan with a flat expression, but her gaze briefly fell on El, as if trying to assess the man more deeply, after she had assessed Xiao Yan earlier.

"Thank you," said Yun Yun, trying to judge El through her brief words.

Xiao Yan smiled warmly as he received another word of thanks from Yun Yun.

Meanwhile, El nodded slowly while spooning his homemade soup. "Hn," he replied briefly with a cold tone.

This short and cold response made Yun Yun feel astonished.

Xiao Yan laughed awkwardly. "Dajie, this friend of mine does have quite a unique nature. But he is not a bad person."

Not long after, El had finished her meal quickly. "Xiao Yan, you cook tomorrow," he said matter-of-factly.

"Alright," Xiao Yan replied. "But, I can't cook anything too difficult."

"Ji doesn't mind," El replied in a cold tone, but without any ill will. "Didn't you also grill fish like the other day, and Ji ate it?"

"Yes," Xiao Yan nodded slowly, while scooping up the soup in his hand. "I'm saying this because Dajie is injured, she definitely needs food that contains benefits, like this fish soup made by Ji Lan."

El was pensive for a moment, thinking that Xiao Yan's words were not wrong. "Xiao Yan is right. Ji will take the responsibility of cooking tomorrow."

Seeing their interaction, Yun Yun wondered even more. 'How could they possibly be friends?'

In her observation, Xiao Yan was an amiable young man, although he seemed to be afraid of her which was normal because the difference in strength was like the earth and the sky.

The judgment was based on the short conversation and Xiao Yan's reaction earlier.

Meanwhile, El seemed too cold and elusive, although they seemed to be quite familiar.

Not wanting to think too much, Yun Yun decided to focus on her recovery. She scooped out the warm fish soup with a wooden spoon and began to spoon it into her mouth.

The savory taste of the rich broth and the tenderness of the fish meat made her body feel a little more comfortable.

Also, the curiosity that had been bothering her would soon be answered, because according to her estimation, her external wounds would improve after two days of rest.

However, the seal of the Purple Crystal Lion King was still a problem. It would take several days to completely destroy it.
