Resonance of the Abyss

Chapter 38: Testing gone wrong

Oops, seems like the babies he wanted to protect got mauled by the 'goo' and later on devoured too. He must be sad, I should gift him a gaming console when we go back.

He didn't notice my gaze filled to the brim with pity, he was busy glaring daggers at the 'goo' bastard.

Wait a minute? He was still holding the last remaining baby in his arms, cradling the brat. How was he going to fight holding that liability?

He noticed my doubt filled face, chuckling he said. "Don't worry, you can handle it. You really like fighting right, as a good friend I should not take this opportunity from you."

Wow, he is shameless alright. Either way, it's a good thing for me. All of this 'goo' in all its glory is mine, just mine.

The 'goo' twitched for a second, I didn't miss it. Maybe it saw the mad expression on my face at the time.

"You know what, I will go find Vesna. You, enjoy your fight? I guess.."

If one was to see my face, I knew they wouldn't call this a 'conventional' fight for sure. But I couldn't care jack shxt about people and their moronic opinions.

Azrael stealthily took his leave, disappearing in the shadows of the cave beneath us. Did he think Vesna was a mole rat?

Anyway, the 'goo' was strangely still not making any sort of movement at all. Maybe it was still trying to adjust to its newfound body shape.

As I couldn't care less about its inconvenience, I launched myself at sonic speed. Tackling its gooey body with my knees.

Strangely enough the texture of its body was solid…enough. It was liquid but strong. If that made any sense.

The impact of my knee colliding with its torso sent its liquid body crashing down at the side of the cave.

It moved instantly, next movement it was in front of me. Before my senses registered anything I was punched, if that it was… at best it seemed like a metal rod not a hand.

Because of the impact I crashed to the sides too, it didn't waste any time. It started barraging me with punches, plastering me deep beneath the ground.

It relentlessly punched me, producing air currents which slashed the cave's side into pieces. That bastard was finally getting a hang of its body, I was finally getting the adrenaline rush which I desired for a long time.

I had played enough, checked its strength. It could handle my attacks for a fact, it won't break…

Grabbing its rod like hands, I kicked it in the gut. That kick was coated to brim with cosmic energy, the 'goo' got launched above the surface.

While it was levitating, I kicked off from the ground. Reaching the 'goo', next grabbing its head, I dug deep into its eye socket gauging whatever it was inside.

All that came dripping was the black gooey fluid, there was no sensation of flesh and bones.

I clenched my fist together and hammered the 'goo' down, it crashed with intense force making a crater and producing powerful air currents.

Now that we were above the surface, we got some spectators too. These 'battles hardened warriors' couldn't even tank the pressure of the air currents.

Many of them bled, got seriously wounded because of the wind. So much so for battle hardened warriors.

Actually this was good, they could finally observe the disparity of our differences from their own eyes.

The 'goo' took advantage of the fact that I was distracted, its legs stretched out in the shape of a rope grabbing my legs. Plummeting me straight on the ground, the rope further tightened its grip on my legs and even binded my arms.

Splashing around like a fish without water, I tried undoing the grip but alas, I didn't have that golden opportunity. It never gave me the opportunity, the 'goo' was taking the fight seriously and here I was still taking it as a joke.

Maybe I should also up my gears, at once commanding the gravity. I squashed it on the ground, at once it lost its shape and returned back to being a good liquid.

Using gravity, I created a wind chamber with speed exceeding that of the wind speed of the jupiter planet.

The chamber was very small, it had only enough strength for the fluid to be contained less than 2 m in diameter. Still it was more than enough for trapping the 'goo'.

My spectators also came back from their hiding spot, they were visibly scared. They probably saw a Planetoid for the first time in their life.

Even though this one was meh at best, the aftermath of the battle was enough to strike deep fear in these mortal people.

Their gazes moved at extreme speed at one time on me and other times on the 'goo'.

I usually don't relish having attention but this time around it was fine, their false sense of superiority should be broken by now.

...

I turned around to find Azrael, and maybe Vesna if he had found her.

Just as I turned my back on the 'goo', I was struck by its crafty spear right in between my torso, the attack struck me at light speed not giving enough time to dodge.

That's when I noticed the fact, this bastard was also gauging my strength. It didn't give its 100% fighting me the previous time, it was not using cosmic energy because it couldn't but because it was testing….

I really didn't like the feeling of being the one who is tested, I had already lost a battle, another one was a big no no. Especially after I found people on my level.

Wind chamber cracked, from it the 'goo' materialized its human form. This time around the brat had a face, a laughing…. No, a grinning one at that.

It was really getting on my nerves now, literally too…

Its liquid substance tried entering deep within my body, it was a pervert. I tried pushing the spear on my torso away but it reacted faster, tossing me around like a ragdoll.

It didn't stop there, it attacked my limbs. Attaching various other spears on them.

The situation reversed in a moment, now I was its prisoner with no way of resisting.
