Her breathe was caught in her throat, words refused to escape her lips as Sunny's presence completely assimilated itself into her mind. He wasn't an illusion, he wasn't suffering, in fact, he looked perfectly content standing idly and speaking to Eubin.
What was she to do? Return into his life once more and ruin his happiness? Did Sunny still feel the same way about her? Thousands of thoughts flooded her mind, her body moved with machine like efficiency to Asterion's side as she continued to stare.
There was no need for her to involve herself in his life. Not anymore, he would be happier this way.
And yet, his voice continued to ring through her mind. He had proclaimed so boldly he would suffer like he once had all over again if it meant he would meet her, that was how deep their bond went. To believe it could be broken so quickly was an absurdity, a fallacy that her mind refused to register.
All these thoughts perfectly explained her inability to notice Sunny standing right in front of her. At the sudden reduction of distance between himself and Asterion's unwilling guard, all of the room tensed, Sunny didn't say a word as he continued to look into Nephis' eyes silently.
"I-" Nephis was quickly cut off by Sunny raising a finger to his lips and shaking his head. "Not here. Not now." He whispered, leaning towards her ear so his warm breathe beat against her skin causing shivers to trickle down her spine. Pulling backward, Sunny stared at her once more before allowing a small smile to settle on his face.
"Even though I can't say Sunny and I have the same intensity towards you, I will say I've missed you. Neph."
Spinning on his heel, he turned around and returned to Ki Song's side, allowing Nephis to churn over her thoughts in silence. Despite his attempts to remain composed, Sunny's gaze refused to leave Anvil's form for even a moment, gliding over Gilead and Tyris multiple times over as bloodlust began to seep from his soul.
A foot placed on his shoes broke his focus as his attention snapped to Jessica who was staring at him with an exasperated expression. "Restrain your bloodlust, you're making it hard to breathe!" Sunny stared at her blankly for a moment before chuckling, pulling out his knives from his pockets before gripping them tightly.
"I'll try, I promise. Let's just get this over with." As if responding to Sunny's statement, Sevirax made his way into the centre of the room, clapping loudly to catch the attention of those present before clearing his throat. His golden gaze passed over it's members with wary eyes as he took in a deep breath.
"And now we shall commence the annual summit of the great families. No violence is permitted in this room under threat of death. I, Sevirax of the West shall act as the neutral party. Does anyone protest?"
Silence permeated through the room, all eyes aimed directly at the blind man as he cleared his throat and gestured towards Anvil to indicate that it was his time to speak. The muscular man moved with unnatural grace and authority, his piercing gaze landing upon Nephis and Sunny for a split second as he reached the centre of the room.
"During this year alone, the dealings of the underworld have become known to the public. Our mission to capture Lost from Light resounded in a monumental failure causing every government in the entire world to become sensitive to his existence. This means that we will now ensure movements with more caution from this point forth."
Sunny's grip on his knives intensified as he resisted his urge to blitz over to the man and rip his head clean off his shoulders. Their entire plan was to broadcast it to the world, removing Sunny's place in both the surface and the underworld and forcing him to only have a single option.
Servitude.
Despite this, he had no plans to serve any head of the three great families. Why would he serve people weaker than him? Furthermore, he didn't condone their methods of earning money no matter how fond he was of some of them. Yet, such a thing wasn't his problem. He could leave it to a hero like Nephis to fix the underworld.
As Anvil finished his speech, Asterion's cold, calm voice resounded around the room without restraint as his eyes focused entirely on Sunny's form. "Why must we remain hidden? Why must we bend the knee to the government when we easily have the resources to ensure puppets get put in their place that we may control? But brushing past that, was it not your fault Anvil that some of our dealings have become widespread?"
Asterion's plan was quite simple, planting a seed in the minds of those who didn't know any better was something he had spent his entire life doing. The mere concept of using Sunny as a weapon against the government would breed ideas within the minds of his fellow sovereigns. And all he needed to do was predict them and act accordingly.
Ki Song shifted, indicating she had something to say but Anvil beat her to it. "If I remember correctly, Noctis serves you and Sevirax, the neutral party and Solvane who stands behind you were both hired by your own funds. They were the ones responsible for the death of the Lightslayer and exposed themselves in the process. So, we are equally to blame!"
Both Sunny and Nephis flinched slightly upon the mention of Revel's death. Closing his eyes, Sunny restrained himself from sending a piercing glare at the blind man who stood in the centre as he contemplated ways to take the mans life at a later date. But Nephis was far from Sunny in terms of composure.
Shifting, she levelled a glare at full force towards Solvane. The two women making eye contact and not breaking it before Solvane sighed loudly. "Alright Changing Star, if you want to die, I can make it happen. Losing a bit of money hasn't stopped me before and I'll be damned if it stops me now."
At her comment, Nephis swallowed her pride, killing her rage before creating the most malicious grin possible as she bowed slightly towards Solvane. "My apologies, I was just quite confused why one who almost got killed so easily by Valor's white ghost would even require presence here."
She was pushing Solvane's buttons, and she knew it. The older woman balled her hand into a fist, moving to strike Nephis before a knife whizzed through the air. It moved with blinding speed and precision, forcing Asterion to lean out of the way as it indented itself into the wall between Solvane and Nephis.
Sunny blurred between the two, grabbing his knife and ripping it from the steel wall before wiping it on his leg. "Sorry, I just had to remind you of the no-violence policy. Wouldn't want you to die now Solvane, would we?" Sunny asked, his fake smile plastered across his face as the woman met his eyes for a moment before quickly relenting.
Glancing at Nephis for a moment, Sunny gave her a light nod before spinning on his heel and making his way back to where he once stood. Before he reached there, Sevirax cleared his throat, his face entirely facing Sunny as he took in a deep breathe to calm himself.
"Lost from Light. Although you had the intention to stop violence, you too have committed a violent action." The threat Sevirax uttered before rang through the minds of all those present in the room as Sunny stopped in his tracks, sheathing his knives before turning to Sevirax with a wide smile on his face.
"If I kill you, who in this room is capable of stopping me?"
Silence. Complete silence. Nobody in the room dared to move under the presence of death that weighed upon their shoulders as Sunny's gaze passed across the room, waiting for anyone to offer a punishment and risk their lives. Seeing that nobody had the guts, Sunny smiled once more before making his way behind Ki Song once more.
"That's what I thought." He grumbled silently, receiving a stare of silent horror from Jessica as well as one of admiration from Clara and Eubin as they watched Sunny shock the room into silence. If he was with them, none of the great clans had a chance of standing against them.
After all, who was brave enough to face Lost from Light?
Taking the opportunity presented to her on a silver platter, Ki Song took a step forward, her presence weighing down on the shoulders of all those who dared to stare her in the eyes. Her eyes narrowed upon taking notice of Asterion's small smile as she cleared her throat.
"I'll start off with this, I do not intend to use Lost from Light as a weapon against the world. Simply put, there is an extremely high demand for medical services for terrorist organisations and I intend to expand my services towards them. As for your self created war against the world, I shall not be participating, and neither will Lost from Light. You all are lucky he does not expose our connections with him!"
Frankly, Sunny hadn't thought of that. Not only would there be too many casualties on both ends should the government and the underworld wage war against one another, it would also render him unable to live a life utterly free and disconnected from the issues of their world.
At the mention of his name, Sunny moved to speak, utterly offended by the idea that he was to be used by these peons. Glancing at Nephis, he saw her shoulders trembling slightly as a small frown graced his lips. Something was bothering her, likely involving him since her eyes never left his form.
Sunny began the motions for a silent signal to her, however, intense bloodlust began weighing on the shoulders of all present. Each and every member scanned around the room wide eyed, awaiting the individual who was so bold as to interrupt their meeting.
The sound of a sword cutting through steel could be heard careening through the room as a long, black blade cut a hole through the ceiling. From it, a tall, gaunt man crawled through the hole like a spider, landing next to Sevirax with a wide smile on his face.
Mordret stared down the three sovereigns, his smile widening as he swung his sword through the air lazily. In a moment, Sevirax's blade flashed through the air, blitzing towards Mordret's neck only for a kick of impossible force to collide with his guard, sending him barrelling into the steel walls. Letting loose a small sigh, Mordret offered a mocking bow to the Sovereigns.
"Good afternoon party people. And to you Anvil...it's time to die."
