Chapter 527 526: Bloody...
Of all the things Ryan expected to hear from Corey, he never expected to hear him ask for help. To Ryan, Corey gave off the aura of a genius who believed they could achieve everything on their own and would never ask for help.
He was also such a genius, and he rarely asked his peers for help.
However, despite his shock and disbelief, Ryan already knew his answer to Corey's request.
"Absolutely not."
Ryan vehemently shook his head, and Corey sighed softly. He had expected such a reaction from Ryan.
"What is your goal? What do you hope to achieve in the Shattered Sea?"
Ryan raised his brows when he heard Corey's question, and then he furrowed his brows in confusion.
"Why are you asking such a question?"
Corey shrugged nonchalantly, "I was thinking I could help you with your goal if it's within my capabilities… You help me reach the top of the Eternal Waterfall, I help you with your goal."
Ryan raised his brows when he heard this, and although he tried to hold it in, he could not help but chuckle.
"Although you're definitely a genius and stronger than an average tier 2, you should not bite more than you can chew."
A soft smile appeared on Ryan's lips, but Corey could see the arrogance and tinge of mockery in his eyes.
"You're a tier 2, and I'm a Tier 5… Know your place, Smile Reaper."
Corey remained silent for a few seconds, and then Ryan turned to walk away.
"It was nice knowing you Smile Reaper, but my best advice for you would be to forget about the Eternal Waterfall. Don't go near it."
"Instead, make use of the purifying effect of the Water of Purity to strengthen yourself, leave the Shattered Sea, and look for other abominations to kill so that you can at least get an Ancient Stone to protect yourself."
"If you're not able to get an Ancient Stone, then just stay in the Emerald City which is not far from the Shattered Sea. At least, you won't be teleported to a completely random place whenever the bell chimes."
Ryan took five steps, then he stopped talking and turned to look at Corey.
"Also, the Clown did not tell you this but I'll tell you because I respect for being able to form an Intent."
Corey's eyes flickered when he heard the word 'Intent' directly in his mind instead of his ears.
'It seems like Intent is a big deal in the outside world?... Or maybe it's a big deal to forces like the Supreme Sword Sect?'
Corey tilted his head slightly with a pondering light in his eyes.
"Previously, the Clown said that only those who can reach the top of the Stairs of Ascension can leave this place, but that's not true."
Ryan's voice drifted into Corey's ears, and Corey raised his brows with a slightly surprised expression.
"Even though one is not able to reach the portal at the end of the staircase in four months, he or she would not be left behind in the Shattered Dimension. Everybody would be teleported out of the Shattered Dimension."
"Imagine so many Chosens not being able to leave after four months, do you think their elders and guardians in the Underworld would allow such a thing? You cannot fathom the amount of resources that have been poured into each Chosen."
'That's for you Chosens, but not for the Underworld residents. Who will fight for the prisoners of the Underworld if only the residents were left behind in the Shattered Dimension?'
Corey lampooned at Ryan's words inwardly. Although one might wonder why Ryan was saying such words, Corey knew what Ryan was trying to get at, and his lips could not help but curve up slightly.
Ryan noticed Corey's smile, and he could not help but frown as he continued talking.
"Only those who can climb the Stairs of Ascension can participate in the next stage of the Battle of Chosens. Those who fail to climb the Stairs of Ascension will not be able to participate in the next stage."
Seeing that Corey's smile remained on his lips, Ryan found himself becoming slightly annoyed and frustrated.
"In case you don't understand what I'm saying, let me spell out for you… You don't have to look for an Ascension Stone to climb the Stairs of Ascension. Even if you find an Ascension Stone by luck, it would be worthless in your hand because the other Chosens would target you and choose to eliminate you in the next stage… that is if you're able to reach the next stage though."
Ryan mumbled the last words softly, and Corey tilted his head slightly.
"The only reason why I'm saying this much and trying to advise you so badly is because you're an Underworld resident with Intent… You're unique. If you didn't have an Intent, I would never bother with you despite the unique aura you have."
Corey's smile widened slightly, and then he glanced at the Eternal Waterfall before shifting his gaze back to Ryan.
"Do you have an Ascension stone?"
Ryan was taken aback at first by Corey's question, but then he shook his head with a scoff.
"I don't… Getting an Ascension Stone is not easy. The only sure way to get an Ascension Stone is to kill a Power or steal it from the Temple of the Old Ones. But stealing something as important as an Ascension stone from the Temple of the Old Ones would require you to battle and kill its Guardian, and that is no easy feat at all."
Ryan glanced at the center of the Shattered Sea where the two contrasting seas clashed without stop, and he could not help but frown heavily.
"A Power is equivalent to a Tier 6, and the Powers of this shattered dimension are extremely unique and powerful… Average tier 6s are no match for them."
"As for Principalities, you'll need to be lucky to get an Ascension stone from their corpse… Only Powers are certain to contain an Ascension stone in them."
Both Ryan and Corey remained for a few seconds, and then Ryan's flickered in realization. He turned towards Corey and spoke with a slightly embarrassed expression.
"I just kept on talking and talking, and I forgot to ask if you know what a Power and a Principality are… Anyway, if you're lucky to ever get an Ascension stone, I'd advise you to trade with somebody trustworthy so that you can-"
Ryan's words got stuck in his throat, and reflecting in his pupils was a unique golden stone on top of Corey's outstretched right hand.
"I'd like to make a trade with you."
Corey smiled, and Ryan's mouth opened and closed multiple times before he mumbled a curse.
"Bloody motherfucker."
