Chapter 725: 724: Do It Yourself
After using his Void treasure to escape to the an Underworld Elevator in the Outer Area of the City of Sin, Divine was relieved when he no longer felt the presence of Nuvagor or Calista, and with a tense and anxious expression, he quickly turned towards the Underworld Elevator, ignoring the gasps of surprise from the Outer Underworld residents who were taken aback by their sudden appearance.
"Let's go. We need to enter the elevator as quickly as possible before Calista and Nuvagor appear."
Divine quickly pushed the button that opened the doors of the elevator, but before he could enter, Kiefer's voice drifted into his ears.
"Master? Master? Where's Master?"
"What?"
Divine snapped his head to the back and quickly scanned the group for Corey, but he saw no sign of Corey and his pupils instantly shrunk.
"Damn it!" He cursed.
"What happened to Master?"
Selene asked with a worried expression, and Divine looked around with a million thoughts and questions running through his mind.
"I don't know. Maybe Nuvagor interfered with the teleportation or maybe- damn it! I don't fucking know!"
Divine paced around with Rosa in his arms, and a few seconds later, he cursed out loud once again.
"Damn it all!"
He approached Selene and placed Rosa in her arms, much to Selene's confusion.
"Hold her. I'm going back."
"What?" Selene and Kiefer's eyes widened.
"You can't. I can see that you're still extremely weakened. You won't be able to do much with how weakened you are. Let me follow you at least."
"No! You're too weak. Just stay here and protect Kiefer and Rosa."
Divine shouted, and then he turned with a determined expression.
Just as he was about to take a step forward, Corey's voice resounded in his mind, and he paused with wide eyes.
"Don't bother to wait for me. Just make a path for me and I'll catch up to you guys."
"Also, don't bother responding to my words cause it's a one directional message skill. I won't be able to hear your replies."
"... I'm going to execute my plan, so leave as quickly as possible."
Divine blinked with a variety of emotions, and then he looked at Selene and Kiefer. When he saw their expressions, he could not help but ask.
"Did you guys also hear?"
Kiefer and Selene nodded, and Divine sighed. He held his head with a conflicted expression, and then he looked in the direction of their Headquarters.
'Everything's gone to shit because of my incapabilities as a leader. I'll take this as a lesson and improve myself no matter what.'
Divine clenched his fists, and then he shifted his gaze back to Kiefer and Selene.
"Let's go."
Kiefer and Selene nodded, and they followed behind Divine into the Underworld Elevator.
----
Meanwhile, back in the underground area beneath the Neon Headquarters was Corey running for his life and Calista chasing after him with a furious expression.
Trails of lightning along with scorched ground was left in Corey's wake as he ran vertically across the hole he made. His feet moved so fast to the point that it looked like he was gliding instead of running.
A pure white misty breath escaped his lips as he ran, and for a fraction of a second, the light in his pure white eyes dimmed before returning back to normal.
'Using the illusion ability of my Tri-Pupil Eyes and Breath of Omniscience to send a message to Divine, Kiefer, and Selene consumed about 70% of my spiritual energy.'
'Also, the illusion ability of my Tri-Pupil Eyes was unable to fully affect Nuvagor. I guess that should be expected since his actual body is comparable to a Tier 8 but I'm just a Tier 3 mortal.'
Corey felt a presence approaching him at a frightening speed, and he paused his train of thoughts.
He looked down, and through his Eyes of Omniscience, he saw Calista chasing after him with a furious expression, but Corey's expression remained calm, his gaze, cold and calculating.
He snapped his fingers, and the sides of the wall glowed with numerous runes on every footstep Corey left behind.
If one were to observe the runes, they would be shocked to realize that Corey had used the lightning sparks that was being released from his legs to form the runes.
The instant the runes glowed, the hole began to close, making Calista's eyes to widen in disbelief.
They were many meters underground, and if the hole suddenly closed, the damage she would suffer would be immense.
Corey could not care less for her thoughts, instead, he increased his speed, and with every step he took, he left behind a rune that closed the earth.
Calista cursed loudly, but Corey's focus was entirely on the path forward.
His speed increased, and the earth behind him rapidly closed. At some point, it had even encased Calista and silenced her roars of anger.
However, Corey knew that she was far from dead.
Approximately five seconds later, Corey dashed out of the hole, and a second later, the hole closed.
Corey had just taken three strides and was about to jump off the demolished building of the Neon Headquarters but a deep frown when he saw Nuvagor standing in the air with his arms folded and an amused expression.
Corey forced himself to stop, and he stared at Nuvagor with cold and calculating eyes.
"There was a teleportation formation in that little cave. I've been waiting for you for some time to be honest."
Corey remained silent when he heard Nuvagor's words that were laced with mockery.
Some might have reacted to Nuvagor's words because they would rather take a teleportation formation than run in a hole.
However, with the bird's eye view and 360° degree vision that his Eyes of Omniscience simultaneously gave, how could he have missed the teleportation formation that was around him?
Corey had seen it but he chose not to take it because taking it would have led to his death because of how long it would take to activate.
Because he knew about the teleportation formation, he was not surprised by the presence of Nuvagor.
"I was hoping she'd be able to catch without me having to do anything because of the limited energy and time I have in this body, but I guess if you want something done, do it yourself."
