Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 726: 725: Sleep Eternally

"If you want something done, just do it yourself."

The moment Nuvagor said these words, he placed his hands together and made a hand-sign.

"I didn't want to use this skill because it consumes a lot of energy and it'll reduce the amount of time I have left in this world."

A grin appeared on Nuvagor's lips, "But for you who has piqued my interest, I'll make an exception."

"Imperium; Eternal Sleep."

Corey's eyes widened in disbelief and shock when he heard Nuvagor's words. Before he could react or even twitch a single muscle, a sigh drifted across time, space, and the world.

Silence.

Pure darkness engulfed the world for a moment, and then a second later, Corey opened his eyes withing a field of dusk-hued fog. The sky above was a slow-moving swirl of stars melting like candle wax, and beneath his feet was a vast land of transparent and chaotic glass mosaic.

He blinked, and the glass mosaic transformed into a vast ocean.

He blinked again, and it transformed back to the chaotic glass mosaic, but this time around, the glass mosaic in front of him showed a memory of his room before the apocalypse began, and the image flickered in and out of existence.

Corey looked all around him a slightly dazed expression, and his pure white eyes saw the sight of so many memories of his being displayed by the chaotic glass mosaic.

At first, Corey was shaken because he had this belief that very few beings in the universe would be able to go through his memories with how unique his mind and soul was.

However, the more he gazed at the images being shown, the more he noticed and realized that the memories were just of certain locations but not of anybody.

'He was not able to pierce through my mental defenses, so he only saw the memories of these irrelevant places.'

'But I'm curious. I didn't even sense any power trying to invade my mind. How did he do it and what sort of power is that?'

Just as Corey had this thought, the images changed. It was no longer scenes of his memories but scenes of him being in a different situations and realities.

'His Imperium is called Eternal Sleep which means his Imperium deals with dreams and memories.'

Corey looked around with a calm expression, and he could not help but recall his experience in the Temple of the Second Tribulation of Hell, and most especially, his experience in the First Tribulation of Hell.

Compared to the two Tribulations, Nuvagor's Imperium was like a joke to him if it was meant to make him hesitate and be lost in the world of dreams.

Corey stretched out his hand and attempted to summon his axe, only to find himself holding a flower.

"..."

Corey looked at the flower and blinked. He looked up, and then he saw a phantom version of himself, seated calmly beneath a moonlit tree, staring back at him.

"Why fight?" It whispered. "You've done enough. Sleep now. Let everything crumble into dust. It's not your burden anymore."

Corey's eyes flashed, and he clenched his fist.

'I see... The dreams and memories are not the main weapons of the Imperium... It's the ability to forcibly make one... fall asleep that's the problem.'

Corey could feel his movements becoming sluggish and his thoughts blurring.

He exhaled softly, and then the world thrummed.

Corey's Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent pulsed around him, and for a moment, the world trembled.

The chaotic glass mosaic transformed into a large body of water before eventually transforming into a land of phantom axes.

The world howled and thrummed, and the flower in Corey's hand rotted instantly, withering to ash.

Corey clenched his fist, and his Genesis Armament appeared in his fist.

The world shuddered, and the sound of the Imperium fracturing echoed, but Corey's expression instantly changed and he quickly pulled his intent close to him.

A massive gust of wind blew at Corey, and although most would see this gust of wind and think it was normal wind, Corey knew that hidden in this wind were tiny shards of glass.

A tiny point of gold appeared at the center of his pure white Eyes, and Corey saw a thin golden thread-like line stretching out from his eyes to the gust of wind, and Corey swung his axe without a moment's hesitation.

The wind split apart, but Corey's expression changed and he covered his mouth.

Cough!

Corey coughed out a mouthful of blood, and he looked up. His eyes widened slightly when he saw millions of eyes filling up the sky.

A huge amount of pressure landed on his body and mind, and Corey felt his body becoming heavy and his mind becoming sleepy. Even his intent faltered and a strange sense of apathy filled his heart.

A lullaby suddenly drifted across the Imperium, and the song did not drift but crawled into Corey's ears and gripped his mind like a carnivorous abomination that promises happiness and relief in the form of eternal sleep.

Death

Corey staggered and he struggled to open his eyes.

Suddenly, the ground turned back to a vast sea and giant pale hands shot out from the sea and pulled him into the sea.

Corey struggled but his movements were extremely sluggish. His Genesis Armament fell from his hands, and his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent flickered out of existence.

"The one thing everybody wants including we demons is happiness, and there's no greater joy than not having to do anything at all."

"Sleep eternally."

Nuvagor's voice drifted across the Imperium as Corey was dragged into the bottom of the ocean.

Corey struggled and tried to raise his head out of the sea, but the hands held his face and pulled his entire body into the depths of the sea while covering his eyes.

As the hands pulled Corey into the depths of the sea, his eyes opened and his eyes were no longer pure white but violet-blue.
