Chapter 727: 726: Off Your Corpse
At the heart of the Imperium was Nuvagor who sat on a throne that was made out of bones and pillow, and kneeling in front of him was Corey who was being held by countless pale hands.
"Hmm."
Nuvagor had a thoughtful expression along with a curious and baffled light in his eyes as he stared at Corey whose head was hung low.
'I could not penetrate his mental defenses to see his deepest and core memories... As for his soul...'
Nuvagor frowned.
'I was barely able to perceive it but... I felt inferior?'
'I cannot also manipulate the space and time around him for some reason... It's almost like he has an extremely high affinity for both space and time, but he has not used any spatial or temporal ability... Maybe it's because he's still a Mortal... There's only so much a mortal can do.'
'He not only has a very strange and unique intent, his Intent has advanced to the World Heart Intent stage... If I had no experienced the power of a World Heart Intent in the past, I would have been stunned, confused, and would not have been able to react to its abilities.'
'... So he's a Mortal Walker with a terrifying mind and soul, an extremely powerful physique that grants him the physical capabilities of a low level Tier 6, a high affinity for space and time, and somebody with a unique and also terrifying World Heart Intent.'
Nuvagor's frown lessened, and a wide smile appeared on his face when a thought appeared in his mind.
'He would have been a terrifying opponent in the future against we demons, but if I can possess his body, make his mind and soul mine, and find out his secrets... I have a feeling that I'll be able to undergo a drastic evolution.'
Nuvagor grinned widely, and then he stood from his throne and approached the kneeling Corey.
Clouds in the appearance of pillows appeared beneath Nuvagor's feet whenever he walked, and then he stood before Corey.
He grabbed the back of Corey's head with a smile, and the hands slowly removed themselves from Corey's face and head.
"I thought you were just an interesting mortal, but you're a priceless-"
Nuvagor stopped speaking, and his eyes widened in shock and disbelief when he saw Corey looking at him with vacant but cold eyes.
Nuvagor could sense that his power was working on Corey, that Corey was deeply asleep, but Corey's gaze said otherwise.
However, this was not what shook Nuvagor. What shook Nuvagor was...
'Those eyes! How does he have those eyes! They're-!'
Nuvagor's expression drastically changed, and his body flickered out of existence.
He vanished.
BANG!
CRACK!
A loud bang resounded across the entire Imperium, along with the sound of glass breaking and a powerful shockwave that shook the Imperium.
In Nuvagor's previous position was Corey's Genesis Armament which was covered in an azure, silver, and violet flame and the Phantom Plague Axe Intent.
Corey's entire body blazed with Dreamfire and his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent, a combination which cut the pale hands into tiny pieces and burnt them into ashes.
With the same vacant expression, Corey dashed towards Nuvagor who stood beside his throne with a shaken expression.
"How?" Nuvagor mumbled with a cold gaze as he stared at Corey who was approaching him with the same vacant but cold eyes.
Hands appeared from out of nowhere, and tried to capture Corey, but he swapped his Genesis Armament for his twin black battle axes.
Dreamfire engulfed the twin black battle axes and the axes thrummed with a poisonous sharp intent.
Just as the hands were about to touch Corey, he jumped and spun vertically with his twin black battle axes. A translucent and black phantom axe appeared around the battle axes, making their sizes to appear bigger, which then led to more hands being cut and burnt by Corey's attack.
Tap
Corey's feet touched the ground after cutting and burning the pale hands, and the moment his feet touched the ground, it transformed from a ground made up of clouds to a vast ocean.
Nuvagor frowned and squinted his eyes at Corey's feet. He had perfectly timed the moment the ground was meant to change so that Corey could sink or falter at least.
However, when he focused on Corey's feet, he noticed that Corey's feet had not been touching the ground but an hexagon that appeared wherever Corey placed his foot.
'Is it an ability of his shoes or the passive ability of an equipment?'
The thought of Corey being the one that was actively using executing the skill with every step he took never crossed Nuvagor's mind because the computational power of the mind that would be needed to do such a thing was not something that a mortal could possess.
Monsters and demons of horror and terror appeared in the space between Corey and Nuvagor, and Corey's Eyes of Dreams and Nightmares flashed.
The moment Corey's Eyes of Dreams and Nightmares flashed, the monsters and demons that had been running towards Corey in an attempt to kill him paused at the same time, and then they all transformed into a field of harmless flowers.
The moment Nuvagor saw this, he gritted his teeth and roared.
"Damn it! Why do you have those eyes?!"
"Why do you have the eyes of a high-ranking Walker?! You're just a Mortal!!"
Nuvagor roared, and Corey threw his dual battle axes at Nuvagor who harrumphed and swung his Infernum coated hand at the axes.
The axes flew away, and Corey instantly appeared in front of Nuvagor with white lightning traveling across his legs and his Genesis Armament swinging directly at Nuvagor's neck.
"You ant."
Nuvagor held Corey's wrist and placed his palm on Corey's stomach.
A dense black fireball created with Infernum shot out from his palm and landed on Corey's stomach, sending him far away.
Corey tumbled multiple times before he came to a stop with his hands. His vacant but cold and calculating eyes landed on his Genesis Armament which was in Nuvagor's hand.
"What a foul weapon."
Nuvagor muttered in disgust and a tinge of fear and respect which Corey would have heard if he was in his normal state.
Nuvagor dropped the weapon, and raised his hand with his palm facing the sky.
"You're a being with skills that counter a lot of my core skills, and that in itself is extremely surprising."
Nuvagor grinned, and then an extremely large ball of black flame that was thrice the size of a building appeared above his palm.
"I should have just done this from the start. Use basic skills and my physical capabilities kill you."
"I was planning on capturing you alive, but my instincts keep on warning me about you. Isn't that surprising?"
Nuvagor chuckled coldly, and then he slowly lowered his hand.
"I guess I'll just take your secrets off your corpse... Now die."
