Chapter 26: The Reward
Given Enzo's current stats, killing a Level 10 Monster shouldn't have earned him 100 Attribute Points, but since he was killing a Half-Boss, the way it was calculated was naturally different.
He could gain maximum Attribute Points as long as he was a Beginner Awakener.
If what he killed was a Monster Boss, he would probably get more.
Quickly, he distributed all those Attribute Points.
[Strength: 8]
[Defense: 8]+[100]
[Agility: 9]
[Vitality: 58 (+20)]
[Stamina: 58 (+20)]
[Intelligence: 93 (+30)]
[Primordial Energy: 94 (+30)]
DING!
(The total sum of all your attributes has exceeded 300, you can advance to Expert Rank now, do you want to advance?)
(Yes/No!)
Enzo received another notification that changed his expression.
There was a difference between Beginner and Expert. Awakeners were only taken seriously when they became an Expert.
The main factor was because when one became an Expert, they would gain an innate skill called Power Amplification.
Either a skill or an attribute would become three times stronger when Power Amplification was activated and its use alone required no energy at all.
This was what Enzo wanted, so he naturally chose yes.
DING!
(You have successfully advanced to Expert Rank, you get an Innate Skill, Power Amplification, a skill that increases your power and skills!)
(To advance to the next rank, the total amount of all your attributes must reach 1500!)
[Name: Enzo Moonvale]
[Rank: Expert]
- Skill Maker
- Power Amplification
When the name of the skill appeared in his status panel, Enzo was instantly able to activate it which only took one thought.
He tried it out right away and felt a drastic increase in strength that gave him a sense of evolution.
His Strength and Agility were only on par with ordinary humans, but with Power Amplification, he became three times stronger and faster.
"Mm..." Suddenly he saw the zombie's corpse enveloped in light which then pulled it underground, disappearing from his sight.
He couldn't help but knit his brows, staring at the city lord.
Half-Boss usually hid valuable treasures, he naturally felt uneasy seeing the corpse of the Half-Boss he had killed disappear.
Apparently, it was the action of Elder Mao because the old man pointed his staff towards the Sky Kekkai.
After the zombie corpse, the Sky Kekkai suddenly disappeared as well.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
The city lord then clapped his hands, followed by his soldiers who were then followed by the townspeople.
"Hahaha, great, great, you really are the person I want, someone with strong skills," said the city lord, full of joy.
Not only did he speak, he even walked up to Enzo.
The latter was somewhat surprised by his reaction, making him wonder what purpose he was actually giving this kind of challenge for.
From the looks of it, this was no ordinary event, but an event with a special purpose.
"Does the this city lord want to choose someone for a certain thing?" The Awakeners began to wonder.
"It seems so, I guess it's just a challenge to get a reward. Perhaps the reward in question is not what we think it is."
"How do we know it's a good thing?" An Awakener who was new to the Primordial World today asked.
"Hey, don't you know? All things from the natives are always good things, they never deceive us Awakeners."
"..."
"City Lord!" Enzo greeted the man when he arrived in front of him with Elder Mao and the armored knight.
"Son, what's your name?" the city lord asked in response with a fervor that was evident in his figure that seemed to lack vitality.
"Enzo Moonvale!" Enzo did not mind telling him his name for being asked.
"Enzo Moonvale!" the city lord said his name.
"Alright Enzo, follow me to my castle so I can tell you your reward," he said as he motioned for him to follow him.
Enzo was silent for a while before nodding, allowing her to lead the way as he thought there was nothing to worry about.
After that, he followed the city lord to his large castle under the gaze of the other Awakeners who apparently would not leave before seeing what gift he would get from the city lord.
They entered the castle.
The inside surprised Enzo. It had very spacious and grand halls with many antiques from urns, ancient clocks, to lamps that were actually made of gems that would emit light when it was dark.
He even saw modern items like sofas or tables, which were probably bought from the Awakeners.
Since they were familiar with the natives, trade was indeed frequent between the products of the two worlds. It was just that, so far, the natives were not so interested in technology.
The only items that interested them from Earth were items that were not basically from the technology industry, such as furniture, fashion, or beauty products.
"Let's sit down!" The city lord invited Enzo to sit on the guest sofa where a group of maids placed tea and snacks on his table.
They then sat across from each other while Eldar Mao and the knight in shining armor remained standing next to him.
"Enzo, your skill is so extraordinary that you can defeat a Half-Boss in such a short time. With skills like that, it's not strange that you were able to advance so quickly even though you only awoke today. I must say that of all the Adventure I've met, you're one of the best..." The city lord spoke without allowing him to drink and enjoy the snacks on the table first.
Maybe he forgot about that.
"You overestimate me, city lord," Enzo replied with a faint smile. "Then, what is my reward?" He then asked because he didn't consider this conversation important.
For him, accepting the challenge was only for two things, to increase his strength by defeating a caged Half-Boss and to get his reward.
He did not consider anything else important.
"Hahaha, you seem very impatient. Well, I'll tell you, the reward for completing this challenge is my position as the city lord," the city lord replied casually but it made Enzo feel as if he had misheard something.
This made him rub his own ears.
Awakeners could indeed take control of a city in certain ways, such as completing a particularly arduous mission that was rewarded with a city.
Controlling a city means having an army to command and a steady income from taxes.
However, even an Expert Awakener did not have this right unless they were extremely wealthy and could buy a city from another Awakener.
Enzo was naturally very surprised as he had only defeated a Half-Boss.
This was far from enough to obtain a city.
"City lord, do you mean what you say?" asked Enzo with a serious expression, wanting to confirm this truth while wondering what made this city lord make such an absurd decision.
