Chapter 1: Chapter1: The Accident
As I walked down the wayside the crisp air stung at my cheeks and I felt an unsettling heaviness in my heart.
Eyeing the diamond glinting in the sunlight, I slipped the ring off my finger and cradled my belly a habit I had developed during this fledging pregnancy. Everything felt disoriented ever since Judith had whispered the words that shattered my world Stephan had tricked me he had lied to me. My mind spiraled into an abyss of confusion and grief, so deeplyabsorbed in my thought I failed to notice someone barrelling towards me my ring the promise of love and a future, slipped from my grip and tumbled to the ground, rolling towards the road, a symbol of everything i feared losing. I looked left and right thankful for the uncharacteristic quietness of the street bending down to reclaim my precious jewel when a gasp erupted from the onlookers nearby a chilling warning that I didn't comprehend until it was too late in an instant, pain erupted blood blossomed beneath me like a macabre flower, and darkness consumed my vision. I felt warmth spread but couldn't determine if it was mine or the life within. As. consciousness warned. I heard voices hasty, frantic and then nothing. A man with a muscular posture and elegant demeanor rushed toward the reception, his expression cold and worried. He asked the receptionist question and she provided the answers he needed to pass. Anxious , his black hair was tousled as he sprinted towards a specific place. Though his expression were attractive, a stern expression dominated his face as he stood outside the emergency ward, pacing back and forth. Fear gripped him at the thought of losing Micah it was all his fault. If only he hadn't spoken to her so coldly.
Then, a woman with a low cut black hairstyle and a man with brown hair approached him. "Stephan, what happened?" Richard asked. "I don't know the details, "he replied sinking into a chair and touching his head in despair." She got into a hit and run accident he murmured, the sorrow evident. Panic fluttered in Wittney chest as she reassured Stephan that everything would be alright, though he himself desperately clung to hope. Richard was worried about the lady what had his son done?. Three agonizing hours later, as the clock ticked away the moment of uncertainty. A figure emerged from the operating room. The surgeon , a middle aged man clad in scrubs, gravitated towards them.
" Are you the family of the patient? " he asked, his tone cutting through the tension like a blade. "Yes! How is she? " Stephan's voice trembled, each word a shaky breath filled with fear"She's stable, but..." "We couldn't save child. Benedict gasped. The news suffocating her. Understandably, Micah's mother blinked back tears. " my grandchild Withney said sorrowfully.
Stephan clenched his fist, his soul consumed with guilt and anger. The realization of his action wrenching at him like a relentless storm." Was it three months?" His voice had turned cold, now a shrouded disappointment in himself. "Precisely The doctor said waiting for a calmer atmosphere before continuing. He spoke " she's in a coma, he said and Stephan was devastated, Benedict sobbed, "the possibility of her waking up is slim, a fifty percent chance he said silence fell. Stephan's heart shattered. Losing his unborn child was unfathomable, but the thought of losing Micah was like killing a part of him and losing himself forever. " isn't there anything we could do? Benedict cried, the doctor offered no false reassurance, only stated plans and treatments, leaving a burden of helplessness lingering in the air desperation clawing at their collective heart springs. "You didn't tell us she was with child his mother's voice was laced with uncertainty. " I didn't know she didn't inform me he stated feeling guilty. Richard sat there feeling sorry for the lady he knew it was his sons fault. "I will call doctor Seth." He announced his connection to a brilliant international surgeon who could perhaps offer a silver hope Stephan was in anguish and his parents could see that. He would do anything to bring her back even if it was going to the deeps of the earth. He wanted to tell Micah how everything had changed how he loved her how he had been foolish, selfish. Stephan had investigated how Micah had gotten the hit and run accident. He caught the person involved and ensured he was jailed for life. Weeks passed by in the VIP room a lady with ivory hair and pale, rosy cheeks lay in a hospital bed, her lips dried and chapped. She look so peaceful and beautiful as she slept. One could consider her a sleeping beauty, though her unique features told a different story. Stephan sat beside her, determined to remain her steadfast companion. He brought her flowers and talked to her , telling her he was sorry for being a neglectful husband all these years. He had hurt her deeply and tried desperately to communicate with her hoping she could hear him his parents heartbroken, also yearned for her to wake, knowing it was their son's fault for not cherishing her enough. The Blake's had contacted Micah's parents the sues family, informing them about the accident. Madam Sue was heartbroken, she trembled as she absorbed the news. She nealy collapsed, but fortunately. Someone was there to help her and offer comfort. Meanwhile Micah's twin sister, Ruby was in London shooting a movie, unable to get to her sisters side. The Sue family was fragmented with grief they prayed for Micah's recovery Stephan talked to her, pouring his soul in words Benedict ,his sister had never seen her brother cry before he cried like the world had ended. He didn't go to the company all his time dedicating it to his wife. One day, Ryan, a close friend of Micah's from the office, arrived at the hospital distressed upon seeing the state of his dear friend and angered, he pushed Stephan against the wall gripping his shirt collar tightly. "How dare you ! " he spat angrily. "You hypocritical monster!"
Stephan knew he deserved the rage directed at him. "Stop, please. Just stop," Benedict pleaded, feeling the weight of Ryan's fury. Benedict intervened, her voice trembling with concern." Ryan, not now! Please don't." She begged. But Ryan could hardly contain his anger. "You should have treated her better! All of you!" "You're all colder and disheartening people he said walking away. The truth was, Ryan was deeply in love with Micah, he cared for her more than anyone would realized. As he left, he couldn't shake the thought that he should have protected her and held on to her for himself. He wished he had won her heart and taken her away from Stephan. Perhaps, if he had, the accident could have been avoided. Now, as he sat in his car regret weighed heavily on his heart.
