Chapter 4: Chapter 4: A misunderstanding
Days passed by and the work had been much for everyone since her boss were looking for influential partners she has been busy and Stephan had texted her asking if she was okay, since she wasn't eating properly, she was glad he was concerned Micah replied to his his message she arrived home, felling tired and exhausted. She wanted nothing more than to go to her room and freshen up. However, Judith stopped her, saying, "Master Stefan called. He said you should be coming home early from now on."
Micah was bothered. Why was he bossy? It was only 8:20 PM, and this was the time she normally came home. he shouldn't to dictate when she should arrive home, especially after cheating on her? And she was going to ignore his message, she thought.
Micah didn't have the time or energy to respond , so she turned and headed to her room to freshen up.
Judith sneered after she left, feeling very annoyed. She wanted a response to Micah's words, but Micah chose to remain silent. The truth was that Stephan hadn't actually said Micah should come home early Judith had made it up in hopes of stirring up conflict between the couple. It was evident that Stefan and Micah's relationship was strained, and she was determined to make it worse.
In the Lindens mansion
Genevieve was in her room, recalling the kiss Stefan had given her. It felt as if he had done it intentionally to hurt his wife. She didn't like it because he was showing some emotion. Stefan never cared about people he wasn't close to, so why was he suddenly acting differently?, was he going to fall in love with her? Worry began to creep in. Just then, her mother, Veronica, walked in and noticed her daughter's worried expression. She sat down on the bed.
"What's wrong, darling? You look so troubled," her mother asked.
"Mom, it's about Stefan."
"Oh, don't tell me you're over him."
"No, Mom, I can never be over him. I've been in love with him since childhood." Her mother smiled, pleased at her daughter's admission. She wanted Genevieve to marry Stefan, especially since his parents had proposed marriage, although they had chosen the Sue family instead. Veronica had always despisedthat family for their tendency to gain favor with influential people.
"I went to his office after he returned from his trip," Genevieve said.
"You didn't tell me that!" Veronica exclaimed.
"I know. I didn't want Dad to suspect anything. You know dad he would say he's married, and I don't want him telling me to stop hanging out with Stefan."
"I understand," her mother replied, but her irritation with her husband was palpable. Frederick, her husband, had agreed to let the Blake's marry off their son to another lady, which annoyed her, it was as if he sided the Sue family, instead of his.
"So, what happened?"she replied
"Stefan kissed me," Genevieve confessed. Her mother was taken aback but felt a rush of happiness. She almost hugged her daughter. "But what happened? Why do you look so worried?"
"Um, I don't think he did it affectionately," Genevieve said, her voice tinged with sadness. "He kissed me because Micah was coming. I think he did it to hurt her."
"That's good news!" Veronica said.
"But I don't think so. You should have seen the way he looked. He seemed to care, like what he did was wrong. He cared! And Stefan never cares. He's always so cold. But when Micah was around, it was like he had already fallen in love with her. That frustrates me."
Her mother held her shoulders gently. "I understand, Genevieve. But you need to step it up. If you want to win Stefan's heart, you have to strategize. Now, why don't you leave the rest to me? I'll take care of it for you."
Genevieve felt a sense of relief. "Thanks, Mom."
"You don't have to worry about
anything. I'll take care of it," Veronica said confidently.
Days passed, and the work had been overwhelming for everyone since her boss was looking for influential partners. It had been busy Ryan and her new female friends were getting along well, so she hardly thought about Stephan. Now, she hung out with Ryan and Serena, and it was nice, .Ryan, Serena, and Micah had been tasked with meeting an important client, and the entire experience was draining and exhausting for them all. After they located the client's office, Micah, feeling particularly fatigued, "Here, take this drink,"Ryan said as he handed one to her then another to Serena."Thanks, Ryan," Serena replied gratefully.
"You really are a lifesaver," she added, eliciting a chuckle from him. And Micah agreed thankfully.
Unbeknownst to them, a photographer was capturing the moment as Ryan and Micah made their way to the car. The photographer's angle made the scene look quite intimate. Meanwhile, Serena drove off, accompanied by Ryan and Micah, completely unaware of the picture being taken behind them.
At Blake Company, Stephen received a letter that was scattered on the table. Inside was a picture of Ryan smiling at Micah. They had gone out for a business meeting, and they appeared so intimate that one might think they were a couple. This made Stephen's blood boil, especially because the person he had asked to keep an eye on Micah was also informing him of how Ryan was getting closer to her. While this was normal to everyone else, it was not acceptable to Stephen. His heart was later pacified that day, mysteriously he wasn't a fool someone had definitely sent the pictures to make him angry, but who could have the audacity to do so? He thought.
Judith had informed Stephan that Micah was arriving home late. "You see, Master Stephan, I tried telling your wife to come home early, but she nearly shouted at me," the housekeeper said. Stephan was annoyed . "Please do not inform her of this. I wouldn't want her to be upset with me."she said. Stephan knew Micah was a gentle person or was she pretending to be, he thought I understand he said. He was even more annoyed to see Micah getting out of a man's car.
Micah arrived home late, and Ryan dropped her off since she was exhausted. Just as Micah got out of the car, her husband, Stephan, He saw Micah leaving Ryan's car and heard her say, "Bye, Ryan! See you tomorrow!" as she approached their villa. Ryan smiled at her, but his eyes held a hint of affection toward Micah, an emotion she failed to notice. seeing Ryan smiling at his wife made Stephan's feel protective toward Micah he wanted her all to himself, his fist clenchedJudith, observing the scene from a distance, felt intrigued by the unfolding drama. "This would be interesting," she thought. After lying to Stephan about her boss lady coming back home late it would really cause a misunderstanding and now she was dropped by a man she smiled it was as if the heavens was helping her drift this couple apart, she thought happyily.
Inside the house, Micah changed her shoes and was about to head upstairs when she spotted Stephan sitting on the couch. She hadn't noticed his presence at first.
"Why are you back so late?" he asked, his expression cold.
Micah didn't like his probing questions. She didn't want to appear unnecessarily rude, so she replied, "This is the usual time I come home."
"And the person who dropped you off?" he asked, halting her as she turned to go upstairs. A nagging feeling crept into Micah's mind he must have seen Ryan. She wouldn't lie, so she said, "It's a colleague from work," as she continued upwards.
"Is it a man or a woman?" he pressed, his expression suddenly becoming dangerous. Why was he asking such a silly question? Micah thought. "It's a guy," she stated, continuing up the stairs.
Stephan, now following her, left his seat, clearly annoyed. Micah felt intimidated by his imposing presence as he trailed behind her.
"What do you want?" she asked, trying to sound serious and unbothered.
"I'm sorry," he stated, his tone softer. "It was a misunderstanding," he added, attempting to be conciliatory.
Did he just apologize? Micah thought, shocked. He had never genuinely apologized to her before. Wait, did God finally touch his heart? she pondered. "It's okay," she replied, moving towards her room.
But just as she was about to open her door, he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, holding her tightly. "I am deeply sorry," he said, inching closer. Micah's heart raced. What was wrong with her? No what was wrong with him? Why was he acting like this?
He leaned closer, inhaling the tempting scent of peaches she wore. His hand brushed against her clothing, sending shivers down her spine. But as memories of how he had touched and kissed Genevieve flooded back, she felt a wave of disgust wash over her.
She pushed him away, trying to maintain her composure. Stephan seemed to sense her discomfort and said, "Before Genevieve, I have nothing to do with her. It was a misunderstanding."
I forgive you," Micah replied
"What you did was really disgusting," trying to hide how hurt she truly was. Stephan seemed to recognize her pain."I'm sorry. I won't do it again, I promise," he assured her, and Micah's heart skipped a beat. Did he just say he would never cheat on her again? His strange behavior made her wonder was her prayer finally taking effect?
"You don't believe me?" he asked, taking her hand and placing it on his chest. "Look, I promise I won't cheat on you," he said. Micah could feel his heartbeat, which made her feel strangely happy.
Despite knowing she shouldn't trust a man's words so easily, she felt a flicker of hope. she needed to trust him, at least for now. Stephan found her reaction cute and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead, and for that night, both couples felt a sense of happiness.
Judith, however, watched the scene she was surprise, never expecting the situation to change she felt annoyed seeing them happy
