Chapter 43: Attack on Thulsar
Following their conversation, it was decided that if they were going to go full world conquest mode, they might as well announce their relationship to the kingdom and the region as a whole.
Elara would become a concubine but would also be the queen of her world. For Daimon he established exactly what power a concubine would have over a wife. A concubine would be considered a secondary consort and would be gifted with wealth and privileges depending on the person.
Because Elara would be the Queen of the entire world in the future, she was given more benefits than a normal concubine would. Her children would be given the title of Prince and Princess but would have no claim to the throne unless officially elevated.
This way, only wives would be allowed to produce heirs. But no matter what their status, they would all be Daimon's children, which would give them considerable power at birth and will increase as they get older.
This announcement shocked the heirs of a lot of noble families and Prince Lior who began to rally the noble families who had participated in the assassination of the king. Thulsar was the only city within the Kingdom, however, numerous castles existed outside of the city to establish regions of control, protecting the Kingdom from external threats.
But now, these castles had turned hostile as Prince Lior rallied the heirs and other members of those noble families to his back. His motive and goal were to eliminate the emperor who had taken power and rescue his brother.
As the days went on, small skirmishes between the rebel nobles and the garrison of the city had begun. The original garrison of the city, which included the royal guards, had been reduced to only 1,000 soldiers. Most fled due to being manipulated with money, not liking the royal family, or inspired by the goals of the noble's side.
In order to properly secure the city, Daimon deployed 20k Immortals alongside the garrison to reinforce the city defenses and maintain public order. Luckly, he has performed a lot of public relationship events over the past 10 years, making him well known amongst the general public and well liked.
Most of the city saw this new alliance as a good thing, as Daimon would bring more prosperity to the city, while there were quite a few who of course saw this as a takeover.
But those people were all talk and no action as when they came face to face with a 7ft tall armored Gen'Dai soldier, they backed down instantly.
On the 10th day, after the announcement was made, the investigation against the nobles was completed with help from Daimon. Of the 20 noble families which existed alongside the Royal family, 14 of them were convicted of treason for conspiring to kill the king and take power.
The heads of these 14 noble families, all of whom were already captured, were ordered to be executed and their family assets seized. The remaining 6 noble families had been reformed as the core families of the Kingdom, and Elara had granted them several new titles in her effort to reform the Kingdom.
Prince Elric was the only one of Elara's brothers who didn't turn against her. He was more interested in new technology than ruling a kingdom, and after hearing about what his brothers did, he fully supported his sister as the new Queen.
He retained his title as a prince and was placed as the head of the new Research and Development ministry of the Kingdom. He was put in charge of developing new weapons, military vehicles, and other relevant technology to secure the Kingdom's technological future.
On the 15th day after Elara's coronation, the first assault on Thulsar began. Rebel forces under the 14 noble families launched a coordinated attack on the city's outer walls, attempting to breach the walls. Wheeled vehicles surrounded the city alongside 30,000 soldiers.
Most of these soldiers were people forced into conscription by the rebels or people sent from neighboring nations who wanted to intervene in the internal problems that the Kingdom was having.
However, unlike the other nations, the Kingdom of Thulsar didn't have aerial vehicles and much of their technology was old and not on par with the surrounding nations. Because of this, Daimon had ordered around 50 Raptor fighters to soften the enemy up.
The Raptor fighters swooped down, firing their laser cannons and proton torpedoes at the rebel forces. Returning fire with their own air defenses, the rebel forces scattered for whatever cover they could find. Swinging back around, the Raptor fighters changed their targets to the air defenses, taking more than half of them out with their attack run.
"Enemy air defenses are weak," reported one of the pilots.
On the other side of the communicator, Lieutenant General Korvex, the second in command of the Immortals after Daimon was listening. "Copy that Liuetenant," he responded as he switched the frequencies. "Captain, proceed with the operation," he ordered as a voice came from the other end.
"Copy that Sir," Dozens of shuttles and gunships had descended onto the battlefield, overwhelming the defending rebel forces.
1,000 Immortals were landing in the middle and behind enemy forces, while 10,000 of the Immortals defending the city had commenced their own attack. The operation was a pincer attack, designed to surround the enemy on all sides, forcing them to surrender after suffering major casualties or losing morale.
It didn't take long before thousands of rebel soldiers gave up after their morale plummeted. The leaders of the rebel army, several heirs of the 14 treasonous noble houses, and Prince Lior rallied a few hundred soldiers, and joined the frontlines.
Throughout the entire rebel army, there were 5 Mystics, who also joined the battle to reinforce the frontlines and try to create some type of organized counterattack. Lord Maloch, considered the most powerful of the Mystics within the Kingdom, unleashed a wide area attack, which targeted numerous Gen'Dai.
Normally, the person affected by the attack would be sent flying back a few meters, but the Immortals are the elite soldiers who serve the emperor directly. Their bodies and armor are reinforced with the Force, making them unaffected from Force attacks.
Aiming the standard issued Z-11 Blaster rifle, the 3 Immortals shot at Lord Maloch. He created a Force shield blocking the shots as he ran towards his opponents.
As Lord Maloch charged, the three Immortals stood their ground, raising their Z-11 Blaster Rifles towards their opponent. They loaded their weapons with a special type of ammo which was designed to bypass the Force by disrupting the energy around it. They were called Null Rounds and were specially created by Cortana for special use by the Immortals and other spec op units.
They weren't adopted military wide, due to how sophisticated their manufacturing process was and the potential risks of having them adopted military wide.
"Target acquired," muttered one of the Immortals, squeezing the trigger. The shots penetrated right through the shield that Lord Maloch had created, piercing his body directly. Once he noticed that his abilities didn't work, it was too late. His body collapsed onto the floor as the Immortals walked over his corpse and started pushing the remaining enemy soldiers back.
In another part of the battlefield, Sera was also in the fight and was tasked with finding the prince and subduing him. She moved like a phantom across the battlefield, cutting through the enemy lines with lightning speed and precision.
She could feel the prince's presence, even amidst the chaos of battle. Allowing the Force to guide her, she eventually found her way to where he was at.
The prince was leading a small ragtag band of loyalists who were trying their best to hold on with whatever they had. But hence the name, the Immortals would not die from anything they threw at them.
Charging through their frontlines, breaking the last bit of morale that they had left, Sera rushed towards the prince. The prince pulled out his sword, in an attempt to defend himself, but Sera's lightsaber cut through his sword slicing it in half.
Before he could react, she slammed his head into the ground and then looked at the remaining enemy soldiers around her. "I suggest all of you surrender now, the battle is over!" The surrounding soldiers listened and lowered their weapons. Soon enough across the battlefield, the fighting had stopped, and the remaining soldiers surrendered.
The prince and the rest of the rebel forces were handcuffed and transported to a designated area outside of the city. Not a single soldier was able to escape past the Immortals, allowing for a complete victory for the Kingdom of Thulsar.
The rebel nobles were paraded through the streets as the people cursed at them. "Traitors!" "Scum!" The populace screamed their anger and disdain, hurling rotten fruit and other less savory items at the beaten nobles. The corrupt nobility had once lorded their power and wealth over these very people, and now they could do nothing but silently walk forward, heads bowed in shame.
In the days that followed, Queen Elara sat in judgement over the captured rebels. Tensions were high in the courtrooms as she dealt out the sentences for their treasonous acts. The hearings were public affairs, broadcast throughout the Kingdom, giving the populace a vivid glimpse into how their new Queen dealt out justice and the rule of law.
All the nobles and Prince Lior was declared to be guilty and sentenced to death. Many didn't think the queen would sentence her own brother to death, yet she proved that even royals can't be above the law.
With the rebels taken care of, a conscription for more soldiers for the new reformed army of the Kingdom was created. The conscription would force 10k people into the armed forces, expanding the Kingdom's military capabilities.
Immortals took control of the castle's controlled by the treasonous rebel forces. Their assets were seized with any wealth found, being transferred to the Kingdom's treasury. Elara had 10 years to re-build her Kingdom to prepare for a massive war that will see her placed in control of the entire world.
Meanwhile, several hundred miles away from the Kingdom of Thulsar, the expedition that Daimon had sent 10 years ago, had made great progress. The expedition consisted of 40,000 Immortals commanded by Colonel Vaedros. Their initial expedition saw them set up a fortress before they started expanding to the surrounding regions.
More than 4 Kingdoms fell within the past 10 years, and a sort of military dictatorship was established over the lands that Colonel Vaedros and his men had taken. Within the boundaries of their rule, brutal order had taken the place of each Kingdom's previous chaos. With an iron fist, the Immortals asserted their power. Any resistance was met with swift retribution.
But where there was a fear of reprisal, there also lay a newfound sense of safety. Marauding bandits and petty warlords who had once ravaged their lands were now being kept in check by the powerful Immortals.
Colonel Vaedros was given the guidance on how to set up their martial Kingdom from Daimon, enforcing laws for the protection of the people and their lands. The total population was 800k people, making the kingdom vast and very populated based on the planet's total population of 10 million.
Daimon planned to form an alliance between the Kingdom of Thulsar and the faction that he created, to form an iron clad alliance. The first species to be integrated into the Imperium was well under way.
