Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Nuclear Fission
Chapter 23: Nuclear Fission
"But… it's not fusion, but fission instead? As expected, to achieve perpetual motion-like energy, I'd need to seek out the real Godzilla."
With his physical strength amplified hundreds of times in his normal state, Chang Wei found that his abilities were naturally enhanced. Furthermore, he discovered that his body could now achieve supersonic movement.
Each punch and kick was supersonic, unleashing destructive, unstoppable force.
"Hunger!"
Chang Wei suddenly felt intense hunger. In the heart of Manhattan Island, reduced to a sea of fire and ruins by the nuclear explosion, there was something to eat...
"The taste of Uranium-235 and Plutonium-239… It seems my diet is going to change from now on."
Pondering this, Chang Wei realized that compared to the nearly infinite energy of nuclear power, biomass and lifeforms offered energy that was too insignificant. Unless necessary, he no longer needed to prey on other living beings, except for those with special genes or abilities.
This was actually a good thing. Sufficient nuclear energy implied that he wouldn't need to worry about energy shortages for evolution, nor would he risk dying like Alex, who was drained of energy and unable to regenerate the Blacklight Virus.
"475-kiloton ballistic missile… There should still be some unburned nuclear fuel left…"
Chang Wei had never felt so ravenous. The tantalizing taste of deadly radioactive material beckoned him.
Inhaling the radioactive dust in the air, every breath was death passing through his lungs. As he absorbed the radiation, the dust was expelled again from his mouth and nose.
He found a small fragment of the highly concentrated uranium layer from the secondary fusion core. Initially, he contemplated studying it before deciding whether to consume it, but his body acted faster than his mind. With a gulp, he swallowed it.
The scorching yet sweet flavor slid down his throat, making it itch while heat surged throughout his body, visible as thick smoke rising from him.
The evolved Blacklight Virus cells in his body opened uranium absorption valves, instantly digesting the uranium. Some energy-storing cells converted the nuclear energy into electricity for storage, functioning similarly to human fat cells.
As a result, Chang Wei appeared visibly more muscular, as these energy-storing cells resembled muscle tissue and provided excellent protection.
Another part of the virus cells specialized in discharging energy. These cells had evolved to replace mechanisms like those of electric eels. They could channel stored electrical energy at will, unleashing something akin to Godzilla's atomic breath—pure nuclear energy!
"So hot."
Opening his mouth, Chang Wei exhaled a fiery serpent that shot over a hundred meters, forming a blazing pillar of fire.
The terrifying heat distorted the surrounding air as he rapidly released the excess heat in his body. Otherwise, he risked overheating and dying.
Red light, a byproduct of the virus cells' activity, seeped from his skin.
"This state is too dangerous. I need to find a solution…"
He discovered unburned Uranium-235 at the core and the lithium deuteride at the center. The deadly radiation, strong enough to break molecular bonds, felt like a gentle breeze to him. As he passed, the radiation concentration rapidly diminished.
Even a small "residue" from a nuclear warhead of over 400 kilotons was enough to make Chang Wei feel satiated.
This was the result of his body absorbing massive amounts of nuclear energy. Chang Wei devised a solution—to undergo a "transformation."
He planned to evolve this nuclear-powered Blacklight Virus state into a transformation mode, reverting to his normal state for everyday use.
Otherwise, the consumption and strain of maintaining such a state were too great. Even though he wasn't as large as Godzilla and theoretically required less nuclear fuel and Earth's core energy, his digestion rate far surpassed Godzilla's. His entire body consisted of energy-devouring Blacklight Virus cells, making the energy drain unbearable.
This task was better suited for the system. With its help, Chang Wei quickly completed a minor evolution, temporarily putting the "Blacklight: Nuclear Fission" state into dormancy.
While absorbing nuclear energy would continuously enhance and modify his body, it could also lead to energy depletion and death. Chang Wei wasn't ready for that fate—there were countless worlds, viruses, and genes waiting for him.
Moreover, he might eventually discover energy sources even more powerful than nuclear energy.
By now, the Blacklight Virus had spread across the globe. Although his nuclear fission state was dormant, the enhancements it provided remained.
He soared into the sky, reaching the stratosphere in moments. In this layer of the atmosphere, processes that influence local weather could amplify into global climate effects.
With minimal vertical air movement and predominantly horizontal airflows, Chang Wei planned to use the stratospheric wind currents to release the Blacklight Virus, contaminating the entire layer and infecting the world.
"Blacklight descends upon this world!"
