Starting Today I'll Work As A City Lord

Chapter 266: Chapter 263

It was around 10 AM.

The pizza shop was nearly empty, with few customers. Ayesha had just finished her rounds and was now sitting inside enjoying a pizza, while Elisa sat across from her, engaged in casual conversation.

"I say, Ayesha, why do you like pizza so much?" Elisa asked softly, brushing her hair behind her shoulder.

"Hmm?" Ayesha stuffed a slice of pizza into her mouth, chewed a few times, and swallowed before replying casually, "It's really tasty. Anyway, as long as there's food, I'm happy."

"Is that so?" Elisa propped her chin with one hand, blinking her eyes in curiosity. "But don't you get to eat lots of delicious food in the castle?"

She knew that things like pizza, buns, and the food from Drunken Night Restaurant all came from the castle. There was a rumor going around outside that someone would pay a gold coin just for the chance to eat a meal at the castle.

"Yeah, recently we've been having hot pot. It's really delicious, and we have it every two or three days." Ayesha wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Here!" Elisa, amused, handed her a napkin, then asked, "What exactly is hot pot?"

"Hot pot is..." Ayesha hesitated. She wasn't sure how to describe it, especially the broth—it was hard to explain.

"You don't have to explain, it's fine!" Elisa smiled. Of all the people in the castle, Ayesha, the cow beastkin, was the one she was most familiar with. Ayesha was straightforward and innocent.

After all, whenever Ayesha finished her rounds, she would show up at the pizza shop with a bat and a meat bun in her mouth, even if it was just for a pizza. She'd sit in the pizza shop for at least half an hour.

"Elisa, come on! Let's go to the castle and eat!"

Suddenly, Ayesha stood up, grabbed Elisa's wrist, and pulled her toward the door of the pizza shop.

If she couldn't explain it, she would just show Elisa with action—what hot pot really was.

"Eh???" Elisa exclaimed in surprise, "No way! I still need to stay and make pizzas."

"Make pizzas? There's hardly anyone here at this time. You can finish lunch and come back to work afterward, it's perfect timing," Ayesha said, not listening to any objections. She spoke seriously, "Elisa, I'm telling you, the food at the castle is the best in the world. Don't regret it if you don't come!"

"..." Elisa blinked her eyes, confused, and looked down at the wrist Ayesha had grabbed. This big milk cow wouldn't even give her a chance to regret it.

Without another word, Ayesha dragged Elisa out of the pizza shop and into the street, still wearing her apron.

"Eh? Why are there so many people over there?" Elisa looked toward the city gates, her eyes lighting up as she saw hundreds of people gathered.

"Let's go, it's fine." Ayesha said. She had considered going to check it out herself, but when she saw that Tony was there, she knew everything was fine.

"Really? Aren't you going to keep an eye on it?" Elisa asked, still concerned.

"The Military and Political Bureau is there. They're tougher than our Guard Division." Ayesha waved her hand dismissively, pulling Elisa toward the castle.

"..." Elisa took a few steps before looking down at her outfit and suddenly realizing, she quickly shouted, "Ayesha, wait! I haven't changed clothes yet!"

"So what if you haven't? This is fine," Ayesha replied without turning around.

Oh my God! This big milk cow is so stubborn, Elisa couldn't help but smack her forehead. Her eyes sparkled with a hint of curiosity. This would be her first time going to the castle.

Nicole had invited Elisa before, but she always declined. If it hadn't been for Ayesha forcefully pulling her along this time, she might have turned it down again.

"Ha! Hit him! Punch him!"

"Go for it, take him down! If you win, I'll buy you some meat buns!"

"..."

As they passed the marketplace, loud shouts and cheers filled the air—there was a boxing match going on, and it was very lively.

Elisa glanced at Ayesha, then briefly looked towards the market but continued walking towards the castle. Curious, she asked, "Ayesha, didn't you say you really like watching boxing matches?"

That big milk cow, a few days ago after finishing her patrol, had gone to the pizza shop to grab some pizza and then took it to the market to watch a boxing match.

"I don't like it anymore, it's just frustrating to watch," Ayesha pouted, fuming. "They could knock each other out with one punch, but instead, they just keep swinging at each other. It's not even fun to watch."

Elisa slapped her forehead, helpless. "Well, that's you! You can knock someone out with one punch, but they don't have your strength."

"Tch... you say the same thing as Young Master." Ayesha muttered, pouting in a playful manner.

"Hey, where did you learn to talk like that?" Elisa teased, narrowing her eyes.

"I learned it from my older sister. She talks like that sometimes." Ayesha replied, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.

"Your older sister?" Elisa asked, intrigued. "Is she not in Sedona City?"

"No, she must have something to do, I guess," Ayesha's expression dimmed slightly, a hint of sadness in her eyes.

"Busy? In the middle of winter? What could she possibly be busy with…" Elisa trailed off, realizing the truth. Indeed, winter was when everyone was busiest, scrambling to find food. Not like them, living in Sedona City, eating hot pizzas and staying in houses with stoves to keep warm.

The contrast between their current life in the city and the struggles of beastkins, elves, and humans in the wild made them realize how blessed they were. Their days in Sedona City felt like heaven in comparison.

"If my big sister finishes her work, she'll definitely come to find me." Ayesha said, flicking her long purple hair, causing her large chest to bounce.

"Mm! Of course!" Elisa nodded in agreement, though she had no idea what Ayesha's older sister did. At this point, a simple nod was all that was needed.

The two quickly arrived at the castle, and once inside, Elisa was like a curious child, her eyes darting around, taking everything in.

"Where is Young Master?" Ayesha asked a passing maid, "Is he in the lab?"

"The Lord is in the dining hall right now," The maid replied softly.

"The dining hall?" Ayesha let the maid go, furrowing her brow in confusion. "Why is Young Master in the dining hall at this time? Is there something good to eat?"

As the thought crossed her mind, her purple eyes lit up. She grabbed Elisa's hand and pulled her along, excitedly shouting, "Hurry up! There's food!"

"Eh~~" Elisa exclaimed, surprised by Ayesha's sudden excitement.

As the two approached the dining hall, they could hear the sound of noisy arguing from inside.

"I want to drink too! Why can't I? Young Master, you're being unfair!" Annie's voice rang out in protest.
