Chapter 275: Chapter 272
"Of course, there's no problem." Yosen quickly shook his head. He looked at Lucas, still a little nervous. "You're really going to buy all of my warhorses?"
It's no wonder Yosen was a bit anxious—this was the biggest deal he had ever made. In the past, he had sold only a dozen or a few dozen warhorses at a time. The most he had sold in one go was around two hundred, but that deal ended up being a scam.
"I'll buy them. As long as the warhorses are healthy and strong, I'll take them all."
Lucas nodded firmly. The opportunity to buy warhorses was practically being handed to him, and he had been wondering where to get them.
Last night, Mina had received intelligence from Yosen and his group at the Drunken Night Restaurant. It included plans for certain activities, and Yosen's involvement in horse trading was part of that information.
"Of course, no problem. My warhorses are well-known in the western regions," Yosen proudly patted his chest and assured.
"I can pay a ten percent deposit upfront, and the rest will be paid once the warhorses are delivered," Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"This..." Yosen was at a loss for words. He had never been asked to deliver the horses directly to someone before, but considering the size of the deal, it seemed reasonable to have them delivered.
"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" Lucas slightly pursed his lips and glanced at the four dumbfounded city lords nearby.
"No problem, no problem at all! I can have them delivered," Yosen quickly waved his hand, afraid that a single delay in his response might ruin the deal.
"Good. Once the warhorses are delivered and inspected, we can talk about the draft horses," Lucas said softly.
"This?" Yosen's breathing quickened. This was another business deal, and he quickly asked, "May I ask, lord Lucas, how many draft horses would you like?"
"At least two hundred draft horses," Lucas extended one hand, speaking calmly.
Next spring, Sedona City would undergo a major renovation, and transportation would be essential. In this era, everything relied on draft horses for hauling.
He was even worried that five hundred draft horses might not be enough, but buying too many at once might be too much for Yosen to supply and too much for him. Lucas looked at the still-dazed Yosen.
"Lord... Lucas, did you say? You want two hundred draft horses?" Yosen swallowed hard, feeling his mouth go dry.
"Yes! No problem with the warhorses, and for the next batch, I'll need two hundred draft horses," Lucas said, smiling slightly.
"This..." Yosen awkwardly scratched his cheek, hesitated for a moment, then said seriously, "Lucas, I don't have two hundred draft horses at the moment, only about one hundred. But if you still need them next year, I can get you two hundred."
Draft horses were much cheaper and in high demand, often bought by merchants, traveling traders, or anyone needing to haul goods or travel.
This year, Yosen had sold a lot of draft horses, but the large order from Lucas was tempting, yet impossible to fulfill until next spring, when he could source more from different suppliers.
"Next year? How many can you get?" Lucas sat up straight, curious. "And can you also get more warhorses?"
"Huh?"
Yosen was taken aback by Lucas's question. After a while, he cautiously replied, "At least a thousand horses, and I can get you five hundred more warhorses."
"..." Lucas was a bit surprised. It seemed Yosen had special channels for obtaining horses, otherwise he wouldn't be able to acquire so many.
"Then, in the spring of next year, can you come to Sedona City? I think we can have a good discussion about the future orders," Lucas said slowly.
"Sure, no problem," Yosen agreed immediately. He had a feeling that next year, he wouldn't have to worry about selling his horses.
After Yosen's excitement, he felt the atmosphere turn a bit strange. He turned to look at the Sakura City Lord and the other three, only to find them glaring at him coldly, their faces dark with disdain.
"Uh..." Yosen suddenly realized, remembering the plan discussed last night about seizing the secret of winter-grown vegetables. But here he was, lured away by Lucas into a big business deal. It was just too tempting.
"..."
Yosen awkwardly sat back down, feeling the icy stares from the others. As for the secret of winter-grown vegetables, he was now officially out of it, or rather, he had been pushed out by the others, who were now resentful of him.
"Lord Yosen, congratulations," Said the Sakura City Lord, his words dripping with sarcasm.
He certainly harbored resentment. It was Yosen who had brought up the plan to seize the winter-grown vegetable secret, and now, in the blink of an eye, he had been lured away by Lucas, ruining their plan before it even started.
"Haha..." Yosen gave an awkward laugh and turned his attention back to the ice rink. There was no way he was giving up on this big business deal.
"Lord Sakura, my canned fish production has recently increased. Would you be interested in buying more?" Lucas spoke up at this moment.
"Huh?" The Sakura City Lord was momentarily stunned before quickly reacting, his eyes lighting up with interest. "Of course! Lucas, how much can I buy?"
"One hundred cans every ten days," Lucas held up a finger and said, "Compared to the original thirty cans every ten days, I can now sell you seventy more."
"Really?" The Sakura City Lord exclaimed in surprise. To be honest, thirty cans every ten days weren't enough for him—he would finish them in five days.
"Really! This time, when you return to Sakura City, you can take one hundred cans with you," Lucas nodded.
"Great! Now I won't have to ration them!" The Sakura City Lord was excited.
"Eh? The match has started," Lucas casually noted before focusing on the game. However, from the corner of his eye, he noticed the other three city lords were shifting uncomfortably in their seats.
"..." The Sakura City Lord suddenly realized that he, too, had been lured away by Lucas, betraying the five-person alliance.
He awkwardly glanced at the other three, noticing their dark expressions. It seemed only the three of them had been left out of the deal.
Lucas smirked. This alliance of five, formed temporarily out of mutual interest, could never be reliable. With just a small bait, he had caused them to fall apart from the inside.
The other three city lords didn't concern him much. What really mattered to him were Yosen's horses and the dock of Sakura City.
These two cities might become test sites for his future money lending plans.
Behind him, Nicole's eyes gleamed with admiration as she gazed at the back of Lucas's head. With just a few words, he had managed to split apart the subtly united alliance. She was truly impressed.
She thought back to when Freya had suggested using violence. Now, in hindsight, it seemed foolish.
Nicole turned her gaze to Freya, who looked confused, and sighed. Perhaps this was the difference between having a brain and not.
"Nicole, why do I feel like you're thinking about something bad?" Freya suddenly turned and whispered.
"Uh..."
