- What a woman," Augustus cursed to himself as he watched the white-haired beauty walk away. - It was the first time I've met such girls in this world.

The man threw off his ruined jacket and approached the corpse of the recently killed girl-militant without shyness. Several bullets had hit her in the head and she was still wearing a fully intact body armour and ammunition-filled off-load.

While the mercenary was on a mission from the system, rescuing a strange girl, Anita tried to contact him several times on the radio. Nothing was serious, the redhead was just worried about him. Inside the building where the exhibition was being held was full of security. Stark was under full protection, apparently the unknown gunmen were only wielding their weapons outside. So August took his time.

He took off the body of the dead girl's body armour and unloaded it and put it on himself. The sizes didn't match, but it was a blessing that they could be adjusted. Armed with a Belgian-made assault rifle, the man followed his employer.

Inside the exhibition, chaos reigned, heavily armed guards calmed the guests and led them out in small groups through a safe exit. In this turmoil, the mercenary searched for Anita.

The guards cast leering glances at him from behind his worn battle trophies and weapons, but did nothing. Augusta didn't bother to hide his face, and the guards easily recognised him. He had a distinctive appearance, after all.

Sneaking into the empty banquet hall, the mercenary found Hera in it. The young black-haired girl didn't know where to put herself and frantically tried to reanimate her broken phone to call her mother. She did not dare to leave the banquet hall for fear of getting lost in the flow of people.

- Have you seen Anita or Norma? - A white-haired mercenary approached her. The girl was frightened at first, but when she turned around, she smiled with relief. Only in her eyes there was a quick look of concern, August did not hide his traces of the recent skirmish in the street. The caked blood and mud-stained trousers clearly showed that the man had been involved in the recent commotion.

- No... no, I haven't seen them, and I can't reach my mother," Hera said in a panicked voice as she stepped closer to August. The younger Osborn felt the armed mercenary as a support. He made her feel more comfortable.

- Understood, keep to my back and follow me, I'll lead you to your mother.

The girl nodded fleetingly and walked embarrassed to Augustus, who turned his back. The two of them walked out of the banquet hall and into the main exhibit hall. Behind this hall was Stark's private office, where they went with Osborn.

As they walked, the mercenary tried several times to contact Anita on the radio, but she was silent. This made the man frown. He knew he shouldn't have left this clueless woman alone, but he still did, relying on her newly created "genius" gland.

As the pair entered the main hall and walked halfway through it, Augustus finally saw Anita and Norma. The two women were walking towards them, apparently heading to the banquet hall to find Hera.

- August, what happened there? - Stark asked calmly as she approached the mercenary.

Norma, meanwhile, approached her daughter. The woman loved her daughter very much. When the first shots were fired in the street, she had been worried about Hera. Her daughter's phone had a tracking chip embedded in it and she used it to go looking for her. Anita followed Norma.

- Step back," the mercenary said coldly to the red-haired girl, slinging his assault rifle on his shoulder.

August tried to take a few steps, but felt resistance from behind. He half-turned around to run into Hera's confused face.

The girl was holding him by the edge of his clothes with one hand, apparently grabbing him while she followed behind so she wouldn't get lost.

- 'Daughter, please let August go, he needs to get away with Miss Stark for a while. He'll be right back to us afterwards," Norma faltered.

The younger Osborn reluctantly let go of the hired man's bloody shirt and lowered her head, trying to hide her flushed cheeks.

Having sorted out the problem, Augustus took hold of the handles of Stark's gurney and rolled it behind the large exhibit. The redhead didn't understand the man's actions and watched with interest. A small smile played on the tips of her lips.

- Why did you...? - wanted to ask the girl, but was rudely interrupted by the mercenary. He unceremoniously slipped his hands under Anita's clothes. - Did you really want to... after all.

- Shut up, you punk, where's your costume?! When did you take it off?!

- It was hot, so I took it off before the electric car presentation.

August put his hand to his face. This was exactly what he expected from Stark. She was always on her own mind. Good thing nothing had happened to her, he wouldn't let that slip up again. Now he'd be checking this girl for a new model of stealth suit every hour and he wouldn't care what it looked like from the outside.

- Where's your radio, why couldn't I contact you? - decided to ask the mercenary a second question.

- The walkie-talkie? I made sure you were okay and left it in my office," Anita blinked her eyes as if she didn't understand.

August inhaled and exhaled, then cast a chilling glance at Stark and said nothing more. Apparently the girl had decided to get back at him for his constant taunting of her. If she decided to play with him, he would play by his own rules.

Silently grabbing the arms of the chair, the mercenary brought Anita back to the Osborne family. Meanwhile, Norma was already in the middle of questioning her daughter. Hera told everything from the beginning, leaving out only the reason for the broken phone. She didn't want to tell her mother about it, so as not to get August in trouble and not to be reprimanded.

- We have to get out of here, I'll take us to the emergency exit," the mercenary called her attention.

The interrogation of the elder Osborn stopped, and the younger one came up to Augustus again and grabbed him by the edge of his shirt. Norma watched her daughter's actions carefully and thought about something.

The mercenary led the group safely through the hidden emergency exit. They encountered no problems along the way. No gunfire was heard on the street, and the guards did not get into an altercation with anyone. The night raiders must have targeted the silver-haired woman, they had no other targets.

- August, can you... - Hera muttered something from the back, but the mercenary didn't hear her, and didn't pay any attention to the muttering.

- August, can you come to our house this weekend?! - shouted the younger Osborn when it was time to split up.

A hidden passage led to an underground car park where several cars were parked. Norma expressed her desire to take one of them and take her daughter home.

- Miss Stark, apparently my girl would like to invite Mr August to come to our house to thank him for saving her. You wouldn't mind, would you? - Norma asked smilingly, rescuing her panic-stricken daughter.

- August is very busy, I don't think he will be able to come to you this weekend," Anita said in a sudden irritated tone. It quickly became clear to everyone present that the red-haired woman was just jealous.

- August, you will come to us, won't you? - Hera asked the mercenary quietly and shyly, the man turned to her and met hopeful eyes. August looked into those eyes and decided not to create drama on nothing, so he just nodded. There was no reason for him to visit the Osborn couple, he only nodded as a courtesy.

A beautiful smile blossomed on Hera's face and she let go of his shirt, heading off with her mother to the pickup truck parked in the lot.

- You're not serious, are you? - Anita asked suspiciously, turning round in her chair to face the mercenary.

- I don't know, I really liked the elder Osborne," August said calmly. He had said this on purpose to annoy his employer, and his childish provocation must have worked. Anita furrowed her eyebrows and stared after Norma as she walked away, particularly focusing her gaze on the woman's sirloin.

- I have things planned for this weekend, so you're not going anywhere," Stark smirked, taking her eyes off Norma's back.
