Chapter 501 The Development of the Lure People
The flag of the Second Engineering Corps of the Northern Fleet fluttered in the skies above Reindeer Bay; machinery roared as the lads of the engineering corps rushed to Reindeer Bay upon receiving their orders to help the Lure People build their homes.
This was also one of the results Suming had achieved through negotiations with the Russian Government. The Kola Peninsula was located at a remote distance, and it would take at least a month or two for construction units from the mainland to mobilize manpower and materials. The thousands of Lure People couldn't be expected to live in the wilderness like savages; moreover, the housing built by the military engineering corps, though not luxurious, was certainly sturdy and durable, with some special constructions outright meeting military fortification quality standards.
From a small hill looking down, the frozen ground was already being dug and foundations laid out on the plain. Not far from the construction site, many white tents had been temporarily erected to provide the Lure People with shelter.
Groups of Lure People stood in line, registering their households and receiving living supplies from officials sent by the Russian Government.
Many thin children ran and frolicked about in the camp tents.
As Suming walked into the camp, the Lure People learned that their Divine Envoy had arrived and suddenly erupted in waves of cheering from all around, startling the Russian Engineering Corps working nearby.
Alayi and Basel, leaning on his cane, came to greet him from afar in the tents, poised to prostrate but Suming stopped them with a very stern look.
"Let's talk inside the tent," Suming nodded and began conversing as he walked: "How does everyone feel about this place? Can you adapt?"
The Lure People were used to living in Iraq, and suddenly coming to Russia, there were bound to be areas of discomfort. Temporary discomfort was nothing, but Suming was only worried about the Lure People causing trouble—that would not be good. In the eyes of the Russian Government, the Lure People were one and the same with them; if the Lure People stirred up any trouble, it could lead to misunderstandings.
"Great Divine Envoy, that is simply impossible. Just as the scriptures say, you led the Lure People to defeat the devil and have come to this picturesque paradise to establish a homeland for the Lure People. Our hearts are filled with gratitude," said Alayi.
Alayi lifted the tent flap, and a warm aura immediately filled the space—an indoor fire basin, feeling quite out of place in the hot climate of Iraq, now seemed perfectly appropriate.
Suming entered the tent and glanced around the interior environment. A temporary bookshelf, assembled from wood, held several rows of old books; a large box was neatly stacked with new clothes; in one corner of the tent hung a rifle and a large string of sausages.
All seemed quite fine, so Suming sat by the fire, extended his hands to warm them by the flames, and smiled, "Don't just say what sounds nice; among over two thousand Lure People here, there are just as many thinking minds, bound to have all sorts of ideas."
"Your wisdom is enough to illuminate the sky!" Alayi sat down reverently across from him, laughing: "Some initial discomfort is inevitable, but compared to our settlements in Iraq, this place is indeed paradise. We don't have to worry about being forcefully conscripted by the government, nor facing the guns of the Kurds or IS. The children can grow up healthy."
"And the Russian sausages taste very good, of course, it would be even better if there were only beef ones since we don't eat pork. The large rye bread is great, it tastes fragrant and fills you up! But beer, I can't get used to it, it's like horse urine!" Basel blurted out loudly, and Alayi translated cheerfully.

"As long as you promise not to use flames to harm others or yourself, I can consider letting you take charge of brewing according to the Lure people's traditional methods," Suming said with a smile. Basel scratched his head and chuckled. That day, he was acting to uphold the authority of the Fire God, but with a legitimate Divine Envoy like Suming present, the task of upholding divine authority naturally did not fall upon him anymore.
"You see, there are still some areas where they are not comfortable or used to," Suming said to Alayi.
"These aren't big problems. The clansmen can understand, and I have already arranged for some young people who have been educated and had contact with the world, like Basel, to negotiate with the Russian officials. Divine Envoy, you can rest assured. Oh, and about the language issue, I'm thinking of having the children learn three languages in the future: Arabic, which is our ancestor's language, as well as Chinese and Russian."
From this point on, it is apparent that, aside from his fervent religious beliefs, Alayi is, in fact, a very wise elder. He took language education for children as the most important matter and specially reported to Suming.
"That's very good, just don't let the children work too hard. At their age, they should spend more time playing. The adults should also learn along with them. I don't want to be in a camp where only Alayi can understand me. Especially Basel, he needs to learn Chinese and Russian!" Suming said.
After some time of interaction, Suming discovered that within the Lure tribe, Alayi was both the Clan Leader and the sacrificer, Amir was the head of the military forces, and Basel was responsible for the daily affairs of the tribe. He could only understand Chinese but could not speak it, and Russian was even more out of the question.
"Divine Envoy, you have considered everything for the Lure people, being able to eat and drink enough, not having to worry about being shot or raped, it's a great fortune indeed. Not a single Lure child would think studying in a heated room is a hard task!" Alayi said sincerely.
"Oh, there's one more thing..." Basel interjected from the side, "Divine Envoy, the Engineering Corps told us that in at most a month, we'll be able to move into the new houses with electricity and heating. What should we do after that? We want to build a real palace for you in Reindeer Bay, without relying on the power of the Engineering Corps, completely done by the Lure people themselves!"
"A palace, haha, that's not necessary for now. What the Lure people need to do at the moment is to settle down in Reindeer Bay," Suming said.
He thought for a moment and continued, "First of all, you need to establish good relations with the other local tribes and avoid getting involved in government matters. Planting crops, hunting, and fishing are all fine. On the way here, I saw that Reindeer Bay has a very excellent natural environment and is rich in resources. As long as you're not too lazy, the Lure people can live here quite comfortably. As for the specifics, you should discuss and decide on your own. If there's surplus produce, you can sell it to the Russians or to Huaxia, I'm sure the sales will be good."
"Don't worry, Divine Envoy, the Lure people are a hardworking nation! I guarantee that in no more than half a year, you will see a Reindeer Bay filled with vitality and vigor," Basel said confidently.
After chatting for a while about the future development directions for the Lure people, Basel took Zhao Yun and Nangong Huang for a stroll around the camp, leaving only Suming and Alayi in the tent.
"Divine Envoy, the young men have already scouted Hell's Gate, and haven't found anything abnormal. Do you want to go there now?" Alayi asked.
Coming to Reindeer Bay, Suming certainly wanted to see for himself what this legendary Hell's Gate was like. He nodded, "Don't stir up too many people, have Amir bring a couple of clever young men, and we'll walk there."
"Divine Envoy, why don't we drive instead," Alayi said with a peculiar expression.
