Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Road Ahead
After Tony posed the question, he worried that Leon might be put off, so he quickly made a joke to lighten the mood.
"What, are you planning to go full Superman—saving the world and hurling all the nuclear bombs into space?"
"Or maybe you'll find a few girlfriends and pass on your superior Kryptonian genes?"
"Come on, don't leave me hanging. You don't look clueless at all. You must have some plans. Satisfy my curiosity!"
Tony smirked as he coaxed Leon.
"Honestly, if I had your abilities, I'd date ten supermodels in one night, then fly out into the solar system to check if there are any aliens. Ideally, I'd find a few alien beauties!"
Leon chuckled silently. That definitely sounded like something Tony would say.
"I hate to break it to you, but the only thing waiting for you out there might be alien facehuggers."
He joked back before adding, "I'm different from you. I don't overthink it. I'll just continue living as I always have."
"I was already the second young master of Stark Industries. Everywhere I went, people smiled at me. The world was kind to me."
"Now I'm stronger, but that doesn't change. I have no reason to do anything bad—don't you think?"
Tony nodded approvingly, his eyes filled with exaggerated pride. "Well said, kid."
Leon took a deep breath. "Tony, if you keep looking at me like that, I swear I'll smack you with the slippers Pepper just bought."
"I'm just your younger brother. Stop acting like I'm your son, okay?"
Tony scoffed, unfazed. "Leon, you're always so sensitive. Here, let's clink glasses. Maybe it'll make you feel like an adult."
"What do you mean, 'feel like an adult'? I am an adult." Leon clinked glasses with Tony but didn't fall into his verbal trap.
"Anyway, I wasn't finished."
"While I don't plan to change my daily life, I will start walking a different path."
Tony sat up in the water with a splash. "What kind of path?"
"The path to greater strength." Leon downed his wine.
"That's it? But you're already strong enough!"
Tony looked genuinely surprised.
"There's no kryptonite in this world, and no one who can beat you. Why bother?"
Leon smiled. "There's no kryptonite yet. Doesn't mean there won't be in the future."
Tony considered this for a moment. "So how do you plan to get stronger? More sunbathing?"
Leon shook his head.
"Of course, I'll keep soaking up the sun, but that alone has its limits."
"I plan to strengthen myself in multiple ways."
"Learn some magic. Study qigong. Deepen my scientific knowledge."
"And when I know enough, maybe I can enhance my body's potential by studying my own genes."
The moonlight reflected off the water as Leon clenched his fist just beneath the surface.
"Study genes? Like the Super Soldier Serum from Captain America?" Tony's expression turned wary. "That stuff wouldn't even work on you, right?"
"It wouldn't, but I'm talking about studying Kryptonian genes."
Tony froze, his expression shifting. "Are you sure about that?"
"Every time someone studies Kryptonian DNA in the comics, they end up creating Doomsday!"
It was clear Tony had been reading a lot of DC comics lately.
"Doomsday is a Kryptonian bioweapon—pure destruction incarnate. Even Krypton couldn't control that power."
Tony's tone grew serious. "This isn't a simple or safe path."
"If Kryptonian genes were that easy to enhance, their entire race would have been gods."
"Leon, maybe you should reconsider. There are other ways to get stronger. We can explore them together."
Leon shook his head. "I'll try other methods, but I won't abandon genetic research. It's the most fundamental way to improve my strength."
Tony groaned and rubbed his face.
He now felt like a parent trying to talk sense into a rebellious teenager, yet unsure where to start.
"Have you considered what happens if something goes wrong and you do become Doomsday?"
Tony pressed, "As I said, no one on Earth can stop you. You'd be completely unstoppable."
"If you lost control… what would happen to the world?"
"Wouldn't destruction be inevitable?"
"You're thinking too extremely, Leon."
Leon hesitated, staring at Tony in contemplation.
Tony Stark was known for his radical decisions.
He never backed down when it was time to push forward. He stood by his choices no matter what.
Ultron and the Avengers Civil War were proof of that.
Yet here Tony was, telling him that he was being too extreme.
That realization forced Leon to reflect.
"Alright, I admit that directly studying Kryptonian genes is a bit drastic."
After a long silence, Leon nodded, and Tony exhaled in relief.
But then—
"However, I'll still go through with it once I get some kryptonite."
Tony's eyes widened. "Wait. Kryptonite? You think it actually exists in this world?"
Leon gave him a strange look. "Not here. But I can get it from the DC universe."
Tony was baffled. "The DC—wait. Are we talking about our dreams now?"
Leon smirked, swirling his empty wine glass. "I'm serious."
"I have a feeling my ability to travel through space and time could allow me to reach the DC universe."
"So, when I get the kryptonite, I'll leave it with you. If I ever do turn into Doomsday, you'll be able to stop me."
Tony ignored the second half of Leon's statement entirely.
"Hold on. Kryptonite aside—time travel? Multiversal travel? You have that ability? And the DC universe actually exists?"
"I mentioned this on my birthday. I awakened my Kryptonian bloodline and the ability to travel between worlds."
Leon raised an eyebrow. "You didn't believe me?"
Truth be told, Tony never fully believed Leon had Kryptonian DNA.
He assumed Leon's abilities were the result of some genetic mutation that let him absorb solar energy.
But now, after witnessing everything Leon had done—his feats in space, his ever-growing powers—Tony had finally accepted it.
Still, the whole "multiverse travel" claim? That one had completely slipped his mind.
