Chapter 3: Chapter 3 : Fascinating Indeed
Alex's eyes flickered as he thought about his future path.
After breakfast, he ignored his mother, who was sitting on the sofa and rampaging through some files, and his father, who had started cleaning the house again. Instead, he went straight back to his room.
The moment he stepped inside, he noticed how neat and refined it was.
It didn't look like anything his room would look like all—it looked more like his sister's!
Even a full-length mirror was inlaid on the wall.
Looking at his reflection, he saw a handsome and delicate young man staring back at him. Alex let out a bitter smile.
Memories flooded his mind.
For the past thousands years, due to women's rights being prioritized, families had always wanted to have daughters. This had led to an extreme imbalance in the male-to-female population ratio!
To put it simply, in this world, there were still tens of millions of unmarried women in this continent alone!
For a woman to get married, she needed a house and a car to win over a good husband.
As for men?
As long as they were handsome and pretty, that was enough.
"Wait… that means I'm the dream marriage partner of countless women?"
Only then did Alex remember—he was actually considered "one of the college's delicate flowers" at Sian City's Central University!
"Hell."
Alex still couldn't believe it. But when he opened his desk drawer, he found it stuffed full of love letters!
Reading through them, they were all confessions—all written for him by pretty girls.
"Forget it. I can't do anything about this."
With a bitter smile, Alex sat cross-legged on his bed and closed his eyes.
Moments later, he revealed a shocked expression.
"The mana in the air is really rich!"
Back in his previous life, he had grown up in the Heavenly Gate Sect, seeking the path to become the supreme mage.
Now, even though he had lost all his magical powers while passing through the teleportation channel, Alex was confident he could recover them.
"To hell with this world! I need to figure out what actually happened, to d0 that I need my power back."
Looking at the time, it was already ten in the morning.
Closing his eyes, he slowly started observing the dense mana around him into his body.
==========
While Alex was busy trying to regain his magic, trouble was brewing in the dark.
In a luxurious-looking bar, a handsome young man sat in a VIP room, enjoying drinks with his friends. Suddenly, his phone started ringing, making him pause mid-drink to pick it up. A female voice came from the other side.
"Young Master Damien, I just saw a man walk out of the hotel suite where Miss Evelyn has been staying for the past two days—after, they both spent an entire night together."
The man addressed as Damien suddenly sobered up.
"What did you just say!?" Damien shouted, making the music in the VIP room stop as his friends looked at him in alarm. The voice on the phone repeated what she had said, causing Damien's face to grow angrier and angrier.
"What the hell are you doing while all this is happening!?" He demanded in an angry and commanding tone.
"Young Master, I think you know my position and why I can't intervene in Miss Evelyn's affairs. Or do I need to remind you that I am not your servant? If it weren't for your sister asking me personally, I wouldn't even be giving you information about Miss Evelyn." The woman on the other end replied in a casual tone, unshaken by Damien's rage.
"You!" Damien became even more furious after hearing her response, but suddenly, he exhaled and smiled.
"Heh, I like your arrogance. Why don't you do a job for me? I promise the rewards will be worth your effort." He offered, making the female caller chuckle.
"Oh? I wonder what the job and rewards are?"
"Break the hands and legs of the man you just mentioned and make sure he can never get up from a wheelchair. You will receive ten million dollars."
After the offer was made, the female voice fell silent for a minute before sighing.
"Young Master Damien, it is indeed a tempting offer. I would have taken it if the target were some nobody, but forget ten million—even twice that amount would not be worth the risk."
"Who is this man you saw?" Damien, who had slightly calmed down, asked.
"The Young Master of the Dawson family—Alex Dawson."
Hearing this, Damien's anger rose again.
'Alex? That shy, bookworm loser? Hmph, how dare he seduce the woman I love.'
Damien, the most treasured flower of the Ross family—one of the four great families of Sian Country—knew about Alex. Not only because Alex was from the Dawson family, but also because they both attended the same college and were even in the same class.
His gaze suddenly turned serious as he brought the phone closer to his ear.
"Listen carefully. If you accomplish the job I gave you by tonight, you won't just receive ten million—you'll also get five hundred mana stones."
"Consider your job done!"
The female voice didn't even hesitate for a second before agreeing to the deal and hanging up.
Damien had an evil grin on his face.
"So what if he's from the Dawson family? How can a loser like him come between me and Miss Evelyn!"
================
Alex, who had been sitting cross-legged for several hours, suddenly opened his eyes—full of surprise and doubt.
"This is really fascinating. My old world never had mana or mages, yet now, I can sense a decent amount of mana in the air. That means there are mages in this world. This just keeps getting more interesting. Well, with this kind of mana density, it wouldn't be enough to create a supreme mage, but becoming a superhuman in this modern society is entirely possible."
"Hmm?"
He suddenly felt something inside him resonate with the mana around him, making him stand up from the bed. He closed his eyes and tried to focus to find the source of the disturbance, but his eyes were forced open as a blinding light burst out from them, as well as from his ears, nose, and mouth. The entire room was illuminated, and even from the outside, light was visible pouring through the gaps in the door.
Alex was lucky that no one had seen this scene. Slowly, the light receded, and everything returned to normal.
Inside the room, Alex suddenly fell backward, panting heavily as sweat rolled his back. He started assessing his body to determine where the light had come from—but what he saw shocked him.
In his very own hands, he saw a purplish-pink colored flame burning, yet it did not harm his mortal body.
"Soul Flame? How have I awakened a Soul Flame without even absorbing much mana? Only supreme mages—the true powerhouses—can actually access their soul and have the power to convert the insane amount of mana they store in their soul into Soul Flame. But this... Is my body actually a gifted one, or is this just a perk I got for reaching the supreme mage stage before coming back?"
Many questions started appearing in Alex's mind.
