The night was silent as Lin Feng, Zhang Wei, and Mei Ling stood near the outskirts of Bloodshade City, cloaked in dark robes. Their mission was clear—infiltrate the Silent Phantom Clan's territory and uncover their motives.

Lin Feng turned to his disciples. "This is a reconnaissance mission. No unnecessary fights. If things go south, we retreat immediately."

Zhang Wei smirked. "Got it. No unnecessary fights… unless they start it first, right?"

Mei Ling sighed. "I swear, you enjoy trouble."

Lin Feng shook his head. "Focus. Let's move."

The three disappeared into the darkness.

After an hour of stealthy travel, they arrived at their destination—a hidden compound deep in a shadowy valley. The area was shrouded in mist, making it hard to see beyond a few meters.

Mei Ling activated her Spirit Vision Technique, scanning the surroundings. "There are at least thirty guards patrolling… all at the Void Realm or higher."

Zhang Wei frowned. "That's a bit excessive for a scouting mission."

Lin Feng's system chimed in:

"Mission update: New Objective—Identify the Silent Phantom Clan's leader."

Lin Feng narrowed his eyes. "Looks like we're going deeper inside."

They moved swiftly, avoiding the patrols. The further they went, the more unsettling the atmosphere became.

Then, they reached a grand chamber at the center of the compound. Inside, a man in a black mask sat on a throne, surrounded by powerful cultivators.

Lin Feng's instincts screamed at him—this was no ordinary leader.

The masked leader spoke in a cold, calm voice. "I know you're here."

Lin Feng cursed inwardly. Before they could retreat, shadows surged around them, blocking all exits.

Zhang Wei drew his sword. "Damn, so much for stealth."

Lin Feng sighed. "Guess we're talking now."

Stepping forward, he removed his hood. "Lin Feng, Supreme Sect Leader. I assume you're the Silent Phantom Clan's master?"

The masked man chuckled. "I am called Phantom King. And you… are quite the interesting figure."

Lin Feng smirked. "Flattery won't get you anywhere. Why are you so interested in my sect?"

The Phantom King leaned forward. "Because your rise is unnatural. Few sects grow so quickly without hidden backing. Tell me… who is behind you?"

Lin Feng's system chimed in:

"Warning: High-level deception detected. Opponent is testing your knowledge."

Lin Feng chuckled. "Wouldn't you like to know?"

The Phantom King's eyes narrowed. "Very well. If you refuse to answer, let's see if your strength is worth acknowledging."

With a wave of his hand, a shadowy figure appeared behind him—an assassin at the Peak Void Realm.

Lin Feng's smile didn't falter. "Alright, I'll play along."

A Battle in the Darkness

The assassin moved like a ghost, vanishing from sight before reappearing behind Lin Feng. But Lin Feng was ready—activating Heavenly Mirage Step, he dodged at the last second, countering with a Void Lightning Strike.

The impact sent the assassin flying, but they recovered instantly, merging into the shadows again.

Zhang Wei and Mei Ling were already in combat with the other guards, fighting fiercely to hold their ground.

The Phantom King watched in amusement. "Not bad. But is it enough?"

Lin Feng's system chimed in:

"Host's current strength is insufficient for a prolonged battle. Recommendation: Escape and gather more information later."

Lin Feng clicked his tongue. "Tch… fine. We're leaving."

With a flick of his sleeve, he activated Illusory Veil, covering the room in a thick mist. Using the confusion, he grabbed Zhang Wei and Mei Ling, vanishing from the chamber.

By the time the mist cleared, they were gone.

The Phantom King chuckled. "Interesting… Very interesting."

But deep down, he knew—a storm was coming.
