Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Rising Tensions and Hidden Dangers

A New Alliance, A New Problem

After the duel, Xu Yue and the Flaming Lotus Sect formally agreed to an alliance with the Supreme Sect. However, alliances were never simple.

Lin Feng sat in the city's restored council hall, across from Xu Yue, discussing terms.

Xu Yue leaned back, sipping tea. "Bloodshade City is in ruins, but it has potential. Our sect can help with reconstruction, but we'll need something in return."

Lin Feng smirked. "Of course. Let me guess—you want access to resources and trade routes?"

Xu Yue nodded. "And a say in the city's leadership."

Zhang Wei, standing nearby, frowned. "That's a bit much. The Supreme Sect fought for this city."

Xu Yue shrugged. "Power isn't just about who swings the sword. It's about who holds influence."

Lin Feng tapped his fingers on the table, thinking. He knew giving them too much control could be dangerous, but outright rejecting them could strain the alliance.

Then, the system's voice echoed in his mind:

"Host, negotiation skill check: Successful. Recommended response: Offer controlled access while maintaining leadership."

Lin Feng grinned. "Alright, how about this—Flaming Lotus Sect will have access to trade routes and resources, but Bloodshade City remains under Supreme Sect rule. You'll get a seat on the council, but final decisions go through me."

Xu Yue studied him for a moment, then smirked. "Clever. Fine, you have a deal."

The system chimed in:

"Bloodshade City's stability increased by 15%. Supreme Sect's influence expanded."

A Mysterious Warning

Later that night, as Lin Feng walked through the city, a shadow flickered in the alleyway. He stopped. "You can come out now."

A hooded figure emerged, their aura concealed. "Sect Leader Lin, I bring a message from the Silent Phantom Clan."

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "Never heard of them."

The figure chuckled. "You will. Bloodshade City's rise has caught their attention."

Lin Feng crossed his arms. "And what do they want?"

The messenger's voice lowered. "To see if you're a threat."

Before Lin Feng could respond, the figure vanished into the night, leaving only a token with a strange phantom symbol behind.

The system's voice echoed:

"New Quest: Uncover the Silent Phantom Clan's Intentions. Warning: High-Risk Mission."

Lin Feng sighed. "I can't even enjoy one peaceful night, can I?"

A Gathering Storm

Back at the Supreme Sect's temporary base, Lin Feng gathered his core members—Zhang Wei, Mei Ling, Chen Bo, and Xu Yue.

He tossed the phantom token on the table. "Anyone recognize this?"

Xu Yue's face darkened. "The Silent Phantom Clan… They operate from the shadows, controlling assassins and spies. If they're interested in you, it means two things—either they see potential, or they see a target."

Chen Bo, the quietest of the group, finally spoke. "Then we need to strike first."

Lin Feng nodded. "Agreed. But we can't just attack blindly. We need information."

The system's voice rang out:

"Recommended course of action: Send a small scouting team. Avoid direct confrontation."

Lin Feng smirked. "Looks like we're going on a little infiltration mission."

Zhang Wei grinned. "Now this is getting interesting."

Mei Ling rolled her eyes. "You always say that before something explodes."

Lin Feng stood up. "Let's find out what the Silent Phantom Clan is planning—before they decide for us."

As his sect moved into action, Lin Feng couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something much bigger.
