Chapter 157: [Ghoul!]
-BAM!
A kick landed on the ghoul's head as it was thrown to one side, before the blonde girl helped the little girl with black hair and green eyes. She looked like a middle schooler, though given her suit that she was wearing, she seemed just a short girl.
Just speculation here.
"Victoria!" The little girl spoke with a smile of relief appearing on her face.
"You okay, Char?" Victoria asked as she checked Char for any bruises, though not finding any on her body, she too seemed to calm down.
I walked towards them one step at a time, while the ghoul on the opposite side, slowly stood back up. His rotten face reminded me more of a zombie though there were some marked differences. For starters,
"Another one to eat," the ghoul spoke out with a smile on his face. He looked at Victoria with a devilish ugly smile before turning to me as he added," and there is a kid's portion as well. Today is my lucky day."
-Whoosh!
And then he began running towards Victoria who seemed the most dangerous among us three. Plunging on her, the ghoul opened up his mouth wide.
-Shot! Shot! Shot! Shot!
Victoria took out a gun and began shooting at that ghoul without wasting even a single second. As for that Ghoul, he dodged some that were aimed for his head, while taking the other shots. His smile creeped as he looked at Victoria, reaching almost closer to her.
-BAM!!
Before Victoria held him by his neck and pushed him against the wall. Her eyes didn't falter even for a moment as she kept that guy in check.
When he tried to punch her
-Shot!
A shot came from behind as that little girl, Char, shot at his hand pushing back against the wall again.
"You-"
And when he tried speaking, Victoria pushed her gun into his mouth before speaking," bon apatite, fucker."
-BOOM!!!!
His body slowly fell down on the ground, lifeless and headless as he just simply stayed there. I observed the entire thing with a bright smile as I felt rather thrilled at that fast paced action the girls had shown.
Then slowly as the little girl turned at me, her eyes narrowed before she asked,"and. Who might you be?"
"A hitchhiker," Victoria answered before asking me," was one of your friends on this floor? I hope not."
I shook my head before speaking," I lied about that. I simply visited this city because it seemed to be fun. And looking at… that… I guess, it really is."
My eyes glistened as I looked and pointed at that ghoul before trying to take a step towards it. Seeing that they didn't mind, they simply let me walk closer before I asked,
"So. A ghoul, huh? I always thought they were simply legends."
"They aren't. And they are pretty nasty," Char spoke as she kicked the dead body of that ghoul before turning at me as she asked," you are pretty calm after looking at one in action. Who are you exactly?"
"A traveller from afar who loves thrilling experiences," I answered with a smile, at which Char sighed and added," an idiot then." Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
"Let's go. We need to report what we found here to the headquarters," Victoria spoke as she scanned the surroundings. She even scanned me, and then put the scanner back into her pocket.
"See you later cute boy," the little girl spoke as she waved her hands at me, while Victoria shook her head before speaking," message from the headquarters. They want all the survivors this time to be coming with us."
Her eyes turned to the camera as she sighed, while I understood that we were being watched right now. I waved my hand, while the girls looked amused with my reaction.
"There are 13 more survivors down the floors," Victoria read the message through her cell before we followed her and gained a couple more people who seemed slightly injured here and there.
Slowly getting out of the building, as I talked to the two girls about various things related to the ghouls, they explained a bunch of things that they knew like their weak points and stuff. It was pretty interesting given how humanity was able to fight toe to toe against them despite them having an upper hand.
When we reached out, Char and Victoria took the bike while I, along with the other survivors were taken into an armoured bus. Since I had decided to play along, I sat in the bus and chose to sit in one of the corner windows at the back.
"Are we going to die?" A little girl beside me spoke in a timid tone as she asked me. She was barely 10 years old, and from how she was shivering with fear, I could only pat her head as I answered,
"Don't worry. As long as you are with me, even the entire world won't be able to touch you."
She looked at me with concern before nodding and then creating some distance between us. Though I just chuckled before closing my eyes as I used the map function to check the number of ghouls in the city.
It was interesting to see that the map didn't differentiate between the ghouls and humans, marking all of them with green. So I guess, they all must be the natives of this world, huh? Only the monsters that the system will create will be marked as red.
The bus drove from the center of the city towards the eastern corner, where it descended into the underground facility. Victoria opened the bus gates, letting us out one by one, before she and Char, along with a few more armoured men, took us into the building.
"No! No! I am not infected! What are you doing! I am not infected!"
As I and the kid were walking, I saw there was some form of scanners that differentiated between normal men and ghouls or something? And they were pulling the infected ones away from us.
The girl shook a little before she looked at me, and using my System, I saw a bunch of infections spreading through her right now. I pondered a bit before touching her head as I poured my energy into her body and then instantly erased the 'bad stuff'.
"It's all right. You don't have to worry," I spoke as I healed that scar near her belly as well, before I helped her pass the scanner without much problem. As for others, they weren't so lucky.
They scanned both of us at last before letting us pass as we reached towards Victoria and Char, both of whom observed me with a nod, and then asked me and the group behind me who passed to the scanner to follow them.
'Well. Hopefully, it would be as interesting as the last fight,' I thought as I kept walking.
