The F-rank Adventurer, Who Was Supposed to Be Just a Helper, Accidentally Goes Viral for Blowing Away an S-rank Monster – It Seems the Home I’ve Been Living in Was an Unusually Powerful Dungeon Inhabited by the Strongest Species

Chapter 8

On a Monday morning, I pedaled my bike up the hills to school, feeling a bit low.

“Why is this happening to me?”

I looked around and noticed the sudden change.

“Hikone-kun, good morning!”
“Saw your stream!”
“That really your house?”

Girls and boys surrounded me, buzzing with excitement.

“Uh, well…”

This never happened last week.

“Want some of this?”
“Hey, I was going to give him that!”
“Try this!”

Everyone was unexpectedly assertive.

“Sorry, I need to get to my seat!”

Overwhelmed, I dashed to my corner seat in the classroom. Thankfully, the bell for class rang just in time, granting me some peace.

“It seems tough.”
“…Kashiwagi.”

Kashiwagi, a friend I sometimes talk to at school, commented.

“Why is it like this?”

“Hikone, man…”

He sighed, sounding exasperated.

“Of course, it’d be like this. I was shocked too.”
“Shocked by what?”
“Your stream, after Nanami’s. Entertaining weekend with your home stream.”
“All this because of that?”

My stream had hit 200,000 concurrent viewers. I never imagined it’d have such an impact at school.

The internet is incredible.

Kashiwagi continued, “Hey, about that mana water?”

“Yeah?”
“You think you could share some?”
“Well, it’s okay, but it’s a bit of a hassle…”

I hesitated. There are some rules for the home dungeon, I think. I should check when I get home.

Feeling a hostile glare, I noticed Saruyama from our class looking at me.

“Tch!”
“Huh?”

Saruyama, a muscular and tall classmate, seemed displeased.

“What did I do?”

“You were a caveman till last week,” Kashiwagi joked.

“Different, man.”
“Saruyama’s into dungeon streaming.”
“Oh?”

First I’ve heard of it. Maybe I missed it because I didn’t understand the concept.

“He’s been bragging about it.”
“What kind of bragging?”
“How much he earns, where he went…”
“Interesting.”

Kashiwagi concluded, “He’s just jealous of you.”

“Of me?”
“What else?”

I peeked at Saruyama again.

“Tch.”
“Scary.”

Is this all because of my stream?

During lunch break, Saruyama approached me.

“Hey, Hikone.”
“Hmm?”

He looked down at me menacingly.

“Go buy me some bread.”
“Bread? You want some?”
“Hurry up!”

He kicked my desk.

“Alright.”

I rummaged through my bag and handed him a stick of bread.

“Here.”
“What’s this?”
“Got it from a girl. I can’t take all, so just one.”
“Playing with me?”
“Two, then?”
“Hah!?”

I reluctantly offered another stick.

“Greedy, Saruyama. If you wanted two…”

“Forget it!”
“What?”

Confused, he walked away. Did he not want the bread?

Kashiwagi laughed nearby.

“You’re hilarious.”
“…?”

Strange Saruyama.

The bread was delicious.

In the last period, we played soccer outside.

“Hikone-kun, can we visit your house?”
“When’s your next stream?”

Girls crowded around me on the bench.

“Uh, well…”

Our team was resting, and instantly, they swarmed me. But then…

“Watch out, Hikone!”
“!!”

A ball headed straight for us.

“Kyaa!”

The girls screamed, but before I could react…

Bang!

The ball burst right in front of me.

“Are you okay, Hikone?”
“Yeah.”

Kashiwagi came over. The girls looked shocked.

“What just happened?”
“The ball exploded!”
“That was crazy!”

“Uh, yeah.”

Confused, I checked myself. What was that sensation? Thankfully, everyone was fine.

“Tch!”

Only Saruyama’s clicking tongue echoed on the field.

After school, Saruyama stopped me again.

“Hey, Hikone.”
“Hmm?”

“Don’t get cocky just because your house is special.”
“I’m not!”

I waved my hands, denying it. After being embarrassed by the stream with my sister, I just wanted to keep a low profile.

“That attitude pisses me off.”
“Sorry.”

He glared and turned away.

“I’ll make you regret this.”

“?”

He smirked and left.

“What was that about?”

It was a busy day, thanks to the buzz from my stream.
