Chapter 16: A Deal With The Devil
A Room Full of Shadows
Sophia's eyelids fluttered open.
Pain. That was the first thing she felt. A deep, agonizing pain in her side. Her body was weak, her throat dry. Where was she?
The ceiling was unfamiliar—golden chandeliers, carved wooden beams. The scent of expensive cigars and leather filled the air.
She wasn't in a hospital.
She turned her head slowly—and her heart nearly stopped.
Sitting in a luxurious armchair, Nasir.
Dressed in a crisp white suit, a cigar between his fingers, he watched her with a lazy smirk. His dark eyes held nothing but amusement.
"Finally awake, little bird?"
Sophia tried to move—only to realize her wrist was cuffed to the bed.
Panic surged.
Her breath hitched. "Where am I?"
Nasir exhaled a slow puff of smoke. "Somewhere safe. For now."
A Dangerous Proposition
Sophia's mind raced. If Nasir had her, that meant Adham had failed.
But why was she still alive?
Nasir leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "You caused quite a mess in my city, Sophia."
His city?
Of course. Khalid had been powerful, but Nasir was the true kingpin.
"What do you want?" she demanded, keeping her voice steady despite the fear crawling up her spine.
Nasir's smirk widened. "You."
Her blood turned to ice.
He tilted his head, observing her like a hunter watching his prey. "You impressed me. You survived Khalid. You survived Adham. And you survived me."
"I don't work for criminals," she spat.
Nasir laughed softly. "Oh, Sophia… after everything you've done, do you really think you're still the innocent little girl from Lagos?"
The words stung.
Nasir stood and walked to the window, gazing down at the city. "I have an offer for you. One that you can't refuse."
Sophia's fists clenched. She had to get out of here. But how?
Nasir turned back to her.
"Work for me, Sophia. Be mine, and I will give you the world."
A shiver ran down her spine.
She had escaped death—but at what cost?
A Choice with No Escape
Sophia's wrist ached from the cold metal cuff, but she refused to show weakness. She wasn't going to beg. Not in front of Nasir.
She sat up slowly, swallowing the pain. "And if I refuse?"
Nasir chuckled. "You don't have the luxury of refusal."
He stepped closer, his expensive cologne filling the air. His presence was overwhelming—a man used to getting what he wanted.
"You either work for me…" he traced the rim of his whiskey glass with a slow finger, "…or you disappear. Permanently."
Sophia's stomach twisted. She knew what that meant.
Her mind raced. Escape wasn't an option—yet.
Play along. Survive first. Find a way out later.
She let out a slow breath and forced a smirk. "Fine."
Nasir's eyes gleamed with approval. "Good girl."
But inside, Sophia was already planning her next move.
A New Prison
Hours later, Sophia was dressed in a silk dress far too expensive for comfort. A prisoner wrapped in luxury.
Nasir's men watched her every move.
She sat in the grand dining hall, food spread before her. But she had no appetite. Her mind was focused on one thing—escape.
Nasir's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Tomorrow, you start working for me."
Sophia met his gaze. "What do you expect me to do?"
Nasir leaned back, sipping his wine. "Charm. Manipulate. Control."
She stiffened.
"You're beautiful, Sophia. Smart. And men? They're weak to women like you."
He set his glass down, his smile sharp as a blade. "I want you to bring them to their knees."
Sophia's hands trembled beneath the table.
She had spent years building herself up. Crawling through dirt, climbing to power.
And now?
She was nothing more than a pawn in another man's game.
Her jaw tightened.
Not for long.
She smiled sweetly. "I'll do whatever you need."
Nasir grinned, pleased.
But in her heart, Sophia had already chosen her next move.
She would play the game.
And when the time was right… she would burn it all down.
The First Mission
The sun rose slowly over Dubai, casting golden streaks across the glass towers. Sophia stood by the window in her silk dress, her heart a storm beneath the calm surface.
Today, she would become Nasir's puppet—at least, that's what he thought.
A knock echoed through the room.
A guard stepped inside. "Boss is waiting for you."
Sophia nodded, hiding her fear beneath a mask of indifference.
She followed the guard down a marble hallway into Nasir's office—a room lined with leather, gold, and weapons.
Nasir sat behind a mahogany desk, swirling whiskey in a crystal glass.
"Sophia," he said, smiling like a king addressing his favorite servant. "Welcome to your new life."
Sophia's stomach churned, but she kept her voice steady. "What's the job?"
Nasir leaned forward. "There's a man I need you to break—Sheikh Hamza. He's sitting on millions of dollars in offshore accounts. But he's careful… until you walk into the room."
Sophia's heart pounded.
This was her test.
If she failed, Nasir would kill her.
If she succeeded, she would become his weapon.
The Seduction Game
That night, Sophia walked into one of Dubai's most exclusive nightclubs—The Sapphire Lounge.
The music was low, the air heavy with perfume and power. Men in tailored suits filled the booths, sipping expensive liquor.
She spotted Sheikh Hamza immediately—grey-haired, rich, and arrogant.
Sophia approached his table, her hips swaying, her eyes soft.
"Mind if I join you?"
Hamza's eyes widened. "It would be my pleasure."
Sophia smiled, hiding the disgust rising in her throat.
They talked. Laughed. Drank.
Hamza leaned closer, his breath hot against her ear. "I have a suite upstairs. Perhaps we should continue this… conversation in private?"
Sophia's heart raced.
This was the moment.
She forced a smile, placing her hand on his chest. "Lead the way."
The Setup
Inside the hotel suite, Sophia kept the drinks flowing.
Hamza's eyes grew heavy, his speech slurred.
She slipped a small USB drive into his laptop, transferring every file she could find.
Hamza leaned in, trying to kiss her.
Sophia pulled away, smiling sweetly. "Why don't you freshen up first?"
Hamza smirked and stumbled into the bathroom.
The moment the door closed, Sophia grabbed the USB and walked out—without looking back.
Back to the Cage
Nasir's eyes glittered when Sophia handed him the drive.
"Well done."
Sophia forced a smile.
Nasir leaned closer. "See? You're already becoming exactly what I need."
She swallowed hard. "What's next?"
Nasir's grin widened.
"Now… we see how far you're willing to fall."
A New Assignment
The success of her first mission made Nasir even more confident in Sophia. He saw her as his masterpiece, his perfect creation—a woman who could seduce, manipulate, and destroy without hesitation.
But Sophia knew better. She wasn't his masterpiece. She was a ticking bomb.
The next morning, Nasir summoned her to his private lounge. He sat in a leather chair, swirling his drink.
"You did well last night," he said. "But that was just the beginning."
Sophia crossed her legs, acting unfazed. "What's next?"
Nasir chuckled. "This time, it's not about stealing files."
He slid a photograph across the table.
A man in his mid-forties. Well-dressed. A diamond watch on his wrist. His face carried the arrogance of a man untouched by consequences.
"His name is William Carter. A billionaire investor. He's been funding my enemies."** Nasir's voice turned sharp.** "I need you to ruin him."**
Sophia's heart pounded.
"Ruin him how?"
Nasir smiled darkly. "Make him fall for you. Then make him regret it."
The Billionaire's World
Two nights later, Sophia arrived at an elite yacht party in Monaco. The Mediterranean waves shimmered under the moonlight, and billionaires drank their wealth away.
She spotted William Carter instantly.
He was surrounded by models, but the moment he saw her, his interest shifted. Men like him always thought they were hunters, never realizing they were prey.
Sophia let him chase her. A smile here, a laugh there. A brush of fingers. The illusion of innocence.
By the end of the night, William was addicted.
"You're not like the others," he murmured, fingers tracing her arm.
Sophia smiled sweetly. "You have no idea."
The Trap Closes
Over the next week, Sophia played her role perfectly.
Dinners in Paris. A private jet to Santorini. Nights spent whispering false promises.
She learned his weaknesses, his fears.
And when she had him completely obsessed, she shattered him.
It started with a scandal—fabricated evidence of him embezzling millions. Leaked emails. A "mysterious" video of him with a woman who wasn't his wife.
Within two weeks, William Carter's empire crumbled.
Nasir was pleased. "You're becoming a legend, Sophia."
But Sophia wasn't proud.
She felt nothing.
Or at least, that's what she told herself.
Because the deeper she sank into Nasir's world, the harder it became to remember who she used to be.
