Chapter 229: I Can’t Make Decisions for Others Without Permission
After Lynn simplified the ancient magic Purgatory Demon Puppet to create a new magic, Hellfire Martial Arts, he prepared to leave the Room of Requirement and head to the Great Hall for lunch.
While experimenting with these two different types of magic, two hours of the morning's second class had passed, and it was now time for lunch.
Unfortunately, Lynn was unable to complete a comprehensive test of the gray magic power from hell, which temporarily prevented him from naming the magic evolved from that gray magic power.
Lynn put away the black spear and the magic-suppressing scepter.
This pitch-black spear, made by the Hellfire Martial Arts Refining Technique, is not as invincible as the Purgatory Demon Puppet. If left alone, the fire magic power it contains would be consumed within a month, and the pitch-black spear would extinguish.
In combat, the flame of this pitch-black spear would be consumed even faster, unable to sustain a protracted battle.
Perhaps this is the difference between modern magic and ancient magic.
Ancient magic was extremely powerful and had almost no flaws; meanwhile, modern magic may be highly specialized in some aspects, but its flaws are equally glaring.
Even Avada Kedavra, the so-called killing curse, has a fatal flaw: it can be blocked by objects such as boxes and walls.
Lynn turned his gaze toward Irina, who was sitting in the corner converting her magic power.
At this time, Irina seemed to have completed the process of converting magic power into ice power. She stood up and stared at him with her beautiful ice-blue eyes.
"If there's nothing else, shall we go?"
Lynn said as he turned and headed toward the door of the Room of Requirement.
Irina stood there hesitantly for a moment, then called out to Lynn: "Wait, Lynn."
Lynn turned around, puzzled, and looked at her questioningly.
Irina hesitated briefly, but then finally told Lynn that Buckbeak was about to be tried by the Ministry of Magic's Dangerous Animals Committee and that she hoped to get his help.
"Actually, I know there's no need to trouble you with this kind of thing. After all, Harry and the others will let Buckbeak go in the end. But I don't want Buckbeak to have to hide in a place where wizards can't see him forever. Well, if you don't want to, then just pretend I didn't say anything."
Irina whispered, not holding out much hope for the matter.
Faced with her request, however, Lynn did not immediately agree or refuse. Instead, he held his chin, appearing to think about something.
After a while, he looked at Irina and said, "The Rowle family can help with this matter, but they won't help too much. For now, the Rowle family cannot afford to ruin relations with the Malfoy family, which is also one of the twenty-eight pure-blood families. You should know this."
Hearing this, Irina nodded repeatedly and said, "Understood! It's already great that you can help. As for the outcome, that depends on fate. Tell me your plan, Lynn."
Lynn said calmly, "You also mentioned that Lucius Malfoy's initial target was not Buckbeak, but Hagrid; but because Professor Dumbledore vouched for Hagrid, Hagrid was deemed not responsible, which led to the blame being directed at Buckbeak."
Irina frowned slightly, appearing to understand. "You mean, let Lucius Malfoy shift his attention back to Hagrid, and ignore Buckbeak, a magical creature despised by wizards?"
Lynn nodded and replied, "Yes, I can ask my mother to write to the Ministry of Magic officials with interests tied to the Rowle family and persuade them to shift the case's focus back to Hagrid. I can also write another letter to Lucius Malfoy, asking him to drop the charges against Buckbeak on the condition that Hagrid takes responsibility. In this way, Buckbeak will—"
"But Hagrid is also my friend! Even if Hagrid is willing, I can't let him be locked up in a hellhole like Azkaban for Buckbeak!"
Before Lynn could finish, Irina interrupted him excitedly.
Although she and Hagrid both loved magical creatures, she still knew that people were always more important. Moreover, even if she did nothing, Buckbeak would not be truly killed.
"You misunderstood," seeing Irina's reaction, Lynn shook his head helplessly and chuckled. "Don't forget, Professor Dumbledore vouched for Hagrid. With Dumbledore, the greatest wizard of this century and the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, personally intervening, what can the Ministry really do?"
Hearing this, Irina was stunned.
Yes, with Professor Dumbledore personally vouching for Hagrid, the most punishment Hagrid would face would be suspension for investigation.
Even the corrupt Ministry of Magic would never dare send someone vouched for by Dumbledore to Azkaban.
That would be equivalent to declaring open hostility toward Dumbledore—something even Cornelius Fudge wouldn't dare do for the sake of his popularity.
"I'm sorry, I got emotional... I..."
Irina said guiltily. Lynn was clearly helping her, yet she had misunderstood him.
Lynn waved his hand and said seriously, "I will try my best to reduce Hagrid's responsibilities. If he's suspended for investigation, I can also ensure his reinstatement by the start of the next school year."
Irina nodded slightly. With Christmas behind them, the school year was already halfway over. A half-year suspension seemed manageable.
"But I still need to discuss this with Hagrid. Even though he's my friend, I can't decide his fate for him."
Irina added firmly.
Lynn smiled warmly. "Of course."
With a clear plan in place, Irina looked much more at ease.
After lunch, she didn't return to the Gryffindor common room. Instead, she left Hogwarts Castle and headed straight for Hagrid's hut.
When she knocked on his door, Hagrid quickly opened it.
Irina got straight to the point, explaining her and Lynn's plan while asking for Hagrid's opinion.
After learning that Buckbeak would be safe as long as he took responsibility, Hagrid was overjoyed and agreed to the plan without hesitation.
