Chapter 64: Whispers in the Darkness
Chapter 63 – Whispers in the Darkness
It was Han Feng who moved in the dry soil of the Western Region, his body blending into the night. His aura was barely felt at all, the by product of someone skilled in the Art of the Celestial Veil. As for the Celestial Corpse Sect, he had already learned from the previous events that every single action taken would have to be calculated thousands of times. He traveled toward the Vale of the Gluttonous Spirits, a place of which few spoke, and all who did so spoke in whispers. Many cultivators had gone missing trying to explore the depths, their souls sucked dry by no one knew what. But Han Feng was looking for something, this something is enough to be called a legendary Gu——Soul Devourer! If the legends were to be believed, this Gu would gift him with a terrifying power, enabling him to suck away the life of his enemies to replenish himself. After three days of walking quietly, Han Feng arrived at the entrance of the valley. It was a dark energy place, and the silence that blanketed it was disturbing. There is no indication of life, just the wind whistling through the worn rocks. — This site... — Han Feng muttered, feeling a chill creeping up his spine. — There's something unnatural here. He bandwidthed the world's force, feeling out the contents of his surroundings. As soon as he arrived, he realised something was not right. There was a hidden presence watching him from the shadows. He just moved, blurred like a shadow. Three hooded figures appeared in the spot he just occupied in mere moments. — He sees us — a raspy voice said. Standing in the shadows, Han Feng watched carefully. The people wore grimly patterned robes similar to those of the necromantic factions from the Western Region. "Are you a member of the Celestial Corpse Sect?" he demanded, his fists clenched. The three eyeing around carefully and inspecting the ground. Leveraging his skill in concealment, Han Feng saw this as an optimal time to make his move. In one motion, he leapt from behind one of the enemies and before the man could react, his blade cut the air. The first enemy crumpled lifeless, blood spewing from his throat. The other two responded instantly, calling upon their techniques. — Intruder! Kill him! — one of them shouted. Han Feng didn't let them even a second. The aura of ruin of his Dual Chaos Larva thrust out. He fired at the other enemy, dodging the attacks with inhuman agility. The next thing in an instant—in a second that felt like a sequence in slow motion—his palm pierced that man's chest, siphoning the very essence of his life. The last of the hooded figures shrank back, terrified. Han Feng smiled coldly. "Who sent you?" he said, his voice piercing with a sharp coldness. The man hesitated, but no sooner had he opened his mouth to answer than an invisible force crushed his body. Han Feng's eyes widened. It wasn't him who did that. A great presence had come into the valley. As Han Feng instinctively withdrew and hid his aura to observe the situation. Suddenly out of the shadows emerged a towering figure. —Interesting…— the deep voice echoed in the valley. —You have talent, kid. Han Feng fixed his gaze on the new arrival. It was a man with silver hair, black cloak covered with arcane runes. His imposing presence was emphasized by his deep purple eyes that glowed brightly. "Who are you?" What do you know?" Han Feng asked, already mapping out possible escape routes. The man smiled and stepped forward. — You shall refer to me as Master Elder Li — There was amusement in his voice — You murdered one of our treasured descendants, child. I'm in a tough spot with this..." The murderous intent more and more in the Han Feng suddenly booming in emerging, he understood that rashly do it is impossible. This guy was operating on another level entirely compared to the opponents he had fought until now. — What do you want from me? — Han Feng, who kept his cool. Master Elder Li laughed. — Your strength intrigues me. I could kill you right now, but I enjoy watching how far you get. You have two options ahead of you: come with us… or die. Han Feng stared at the man. This was a bargain he would find hard to refuse — if he did, he would be able to get some information regarding the Celestial Corpse Sect. If he refused, a fatal fight was to follow. "You already made the decision," Elder Li observed Han Feng closely. The bright-faced cultivator looked on with a cold smile. — I was never good at following orders. The silence cascaded down the valley. Then Elder Li attacked with a gesture. The fight was about to ensue.
