Chapter 65: Shadows in the Forest: The Hunt Continues

Chapter 64: Shadows in the Forest: The Hunt Continues

Han Feng crept into the interior of the Western Region forest, and his body had been hidden by the shadow of the ancient trees. He had been on the hunt for days, tracking clues to a lost ancient treasure. His strides—light, his breath—controlled, his mind mapped the terrain like a super-computer. He knew he wasn't alone. After fighting the young master of the Celestial Corpse Sect, the hunting of Han Feng never stopped and was going on without end. His name hadn't come up, but bounty hunters and sect members were sprinkled across the region, trying to find the mysterious assassin. You can feel the tension in the air. He slipped behind a waterfall into a hidden cave, where the sound of the water covered his movements. In one smooth action, he pulled out an ancient scroll from his bag and unfurled it, his purple eyes sparkling as he gauged the runes inscribed upon it. The map showed that the treasure he sought lay just a few hours walk beyond there. But he was troubled by something. A faint vibration came from his Subtle Perception Gu. Someone was approaching. Han Feng's figure was sealed in the shadows in an instant. When three hooded figures entered the cave, whispering, the moment echoes. "Are you certain the Young Master's murderer came this way?" asked one of the men.

Yes. The information came directly from one of our spies in the neighboring city. He needs to be nearby.

Han Feng held his breath. He couldn't allow them to find out.

With fluid movements, he slipped into the darkness, using the Art of the Celestial Veil to mask his aura. He watched closely as the three men inspected the area. He could kill them right there, but that would only alert the cult to his presence. Instead, he opted for a different plan.

Taking advantage of a moment of distraction from the enemies, Han Feng threw a small stone in the opposite direction, causing a dry sound. The men immediately turned towards the source of the noise, drawing their weapons.

"What was that?"

"Probably some animal..." But stay alert.

While the bounty hunters were investigating, Han Feng slipped out of the cave, disappearing into the dense forest.

He knew that time was running out. If he wanted to obtain the treasure before it was too late, he needed to act quickly. With a single leap, he propelled himself to the top of a tree and moved forward, becoming a silent shadow in the vastness of the Western Region.
