Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Rebirth of the Forsaken
As Shen Li lay on the cold, unforgiving ground, his consciousness flickered in and out. The poison coursing through his veins drained his life force little by little, leaving him weak and barely breathing. In his hazy vision, a blurry figure passed by.
He let out a bitter sigh and muttered weakly, "It's useless to ask for help… This world is full of nothing but bastards."
Just as he was about to lose consciousness completely, an old man appeared before him. His piercing eyes examined the dying young man, and the moment he sensed the energy within Shen Li's body, he recognized the poison.
"Serene Repose Elixir…" the old man murmured.
This poison was infamous—not for its pain, but for its cruelty. It slowly drained a person's life without suffering, leaving them to die peacefully, as if they had simply fallen asleep.
The old man sighed deeply. "What a way to kill someone… At least they still had mercy on you. What a pathetic and shameless way to die."
After a moment of silence, the old man made his decision. He would not let Shen Li die here. He reached into his pocket, took out a small jade vial, and poured its contents into the dying boy's mouth.
A faint smile appeared on his face as he muttered, "You'll wake up in a day."
Then, using his cultivation, he gently lifted Shen Li's weak body and carried him away.
When Shen Li woke up, he found himself lying on a simple wooden bed inside a small, run-down house. The scent of old wood and damp air filled his nose. Beside him was a small table, and atop it lay a folded letter.
Still weak, he slowly reached for it and unfolded the parchment. The handwriting was bold yet refined.
> "By the time you wake up, I will already be gone. I have no interest in getting involved with worldly affairs, nor do I wish to be recognized. However, I will leave you with a path—a way to restore everything you have lost."
"Your shattered dantian, your divine blood hidden deep within your soul, and even your broken divine bone—these things are not truly gone. They are merely sealed."
"But I will not help you retrieve them. If you are truly 'his' son, if you are truly the one destined by the creator, then prove it to yourself. Survive. Overcome. Ascend."
Shen Li's hands trembled as he read the letter. His heart was filled with both gratitude and determination.
He clenched his fists and whispered to the air, "Thank you, benefactor… I don't know who you are, but one day, I will repay your kindness with everything I have."
As he got up, memories of the past flooded his mind.
He remembered everything.
The betrayal of his family. The humiliation. The way his mother and siblings cast him aside like trash.
His so-called wife, who had smiled so sweetly before turning against him. The way his brothers had laughed at his suffering.
Hatred surged through his heart like a raging inferno.
His fists clenched, veins bulging. He wanted to tear them all apart, to make them regret ever treating him like dirt beneath their feet.
But then, he took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
And murmured "I'm still weak."
Rushing into revenge without power would be foolish. He had been given a second chance, but if he wasted it, he would die just as miserably as before.
For now, he had to follow the guidance left in the letter. He had to grow stronger—strong enough to crush everyone who had abandoned and humiliated him.
Then, his eyes darkened as he looked down at his trembling hands.
"Shen was stripped from my name."
"Li was given to me by my mother… and I hate her more than anyone."
"From this moment on, I am no longer Shen Li."
"I am Ni tian."
His past was dead. Now, only Ni tian remained.
As Ni tian explored the small wooden house, he found some basic tools, a crude stove, and enough food to last about a week. Stepping outside, he saw that he was at the top of a massive mountain.
Nearby, there was a small farm with a few growing crops and a gigantic tree standing beside the house. From the edge of the cliff, he could see a distant village to the north.
And say"That village looks close… Maybe I should go there."
However, reality struck him quickly—he had nothing. No money, no strength, no connections. Venturing into the village would be useless. Instead, he decided to focus on survival, at least until he could regain his strength.
Determined, he descended the mountain to search for seeds and useful plants to expand his farm. As he carefully climbed down, his eyes caught something unusual—a mysterious plant growing on the side of a cliff.
Curious, he carefully scaled the rock wall and, upon reaching it, saw that it was unlike anything he had ever seen before. Its stem shimmered with a faint golden hue, and five round bulbs grew from its petals.
Sensing its value, Ni tian carefully dug out the plant along with its roots and brought it back to the house.
Back at his shelter, Ni tian planted the mysterious plant in his small farm. However, before doing so, he decided to pluck one of the round bulbs and eat it, hoping it might provide some nourishment.
Even though it was cooked with nothing but boiling water, the taste was incredibly rich and fragrant. He savored every bite, feeling a strange warmth spreading through his body.
Suddenly—
Say"Wait… What is this power circling inside me…? Ugh…!"
A searing pain tore through his body. His vision blurred as an overwhelming energy surged through his meridians, violently forcing its way into his shattered dantian.
"Aaaaghh!!"
The pain was unbearable, as if his very soul was being reforged. Unable to withstand it, he collapsed unconscious.
When he finally woke up it's already the next day, Ni tian felt… different.
His once-dead dantian was now brimming with energy. He quickly examined himself and was shocked beyond belief—he had broken through from having no cultivation body to the 1st Level of Qi Refinement!
He turned to look at the mysterious plant he had just consumed, realization dawning upon him.
With trembling hands, he muttered, "Could this be… the legendary Primordial Rebirth Lotus?"
Legends spoke of a plant that only bloomed once every million years. It was said that consuming even a single petal or seed could restore a shattered cultivation, awaken one's innate talent, and reform a broken dantian.
Ni tian dropped to his knees before the plant and whispered,
"Thank you… Without you, I would have remained a cripple forever."
Gently, he watered the plant and vowed to protect it with his life.
Now, he had a chance.
A chance to reclaim what was stolen from him.
A chance to rise once more.
A chance to exact revenge on those who had forsaken him.
His path to vengeance had begun.
