Chapter 26: Chapter 25: The Desire to Fly Higher
Goyle's jaw dropped as he watched Malfoy suddenly burst into laughter.
To him, there was only one explanation—Malfoy must have been so enraged by the terrible news that he had completely lost his mind.
Goyle waved his hand frantically in front of Malfoy's face, then clutched his chest dramatically, wailing:
"Oh, Malfoy, no!"
Malfoy blinked, only to realize that the entire Great Hall had now turned to stare at them after Goyle's loud outburst.
His face flushed with embarrassment.
He glared daggers at Goyle, then quickly stood up and left—wanting nothing more than to escape this disaster.
Goyle wiped his imaginary tears and hurried after him.
The moment they exited, the Great Hall erupted into laughter.
——
Malfoy's Evil Plot
Hearing the loud waves of laughter echoing from the Hall only made Malfoy feel worse.
His steps sped up instinctively.
"Hey, Malfoy! Wait up!"
Goyle struggled to keep up, panting heavily as he ran.
As a fat guy, running was pure torture for him.
Honestly, this world is so unfair to fat people!
Maybe God just didn't like them when creating humans.
——
"What do you want?" Malfoy asked, annoyed.
Goyle took a few deep breaths before managing to say, "I-I thought you—"
Before he could finish, Malfoy turned to him with the expression of someone who had just seen their archenemy.
Goyle was so terrified, he swallowed the rest of his words immediately.
Instead, he quickly changed the subject.
"Why were you so happy just now? I mean, we have to take Flying Lessons with Gryffindor. Shouldn't you be pissed?"
Everyone in Slytherin knew that Malfoy despised Harry Potter and every single Gryffindor.
But Goyle knew it better than anyone.
One time, while going to the bathroom at night, he heard Malfoy muttering something.
At first, he thought Malfoy was talking to him, but after listening closely, he realized—
Malfoy was cursing Harry under his breath!
So when he saw Malfoy suddenly laughing just now, the only logical conclusion his limited brain could come up with was—
Malfoy had gone insane from rage.
——
At first, Malfoy had no intention of explaining anything to Goyle.
But upon hearing his question, Malfoy couldn't help but smirk smugly.
"In every other class, we're no match for Potter."
"He keeps stealing the spotlight."
"But not this time."
Malfoy's eyes flashed with confidence.
"Flying is different."
He puffed out his chest.
"I've been riding a broomstick since I was six. Two years of experience! Meanwhile, Potter has never even touched one before."
"No matter how smart he is, he can't possibly master flying on his first try."
Malfoy's smirk widened.
"Maybe he'll be so terrible that he'll fly worse than a Muggle!"
"Just imagine it—he'll look so pathetic! His face will be priceless! Hahaha!"
The more Malfoy pictured it in his head, the harder he laughed.
It was as if he could already see Harry embarrassing himself.
——
Goyle hesitated for a moment.
But… Harry is a genius.
He almost said it out loud—but thankfully, his survival instincts kicked in.
He kept his mouth shut.
After all, even he found it hard to believe that Harry could excel at everything.
——
Malfoy checked the date, then sighed dramatically.
"Ugh, today's only Friday. There are still six more days before Flying Lessons… That's way too long!"
Malfoy had never been this impatient for a class before.
For once, he was actually looking forward to a lesson with Gryffindor.
——
Malfoy's Fantasy
He started planning how he would humiliate Harry when the time came.
This has to be well thought out!
Otherwise, it would be a waste of such a golden opportunity!
——
Scene 1:
Harry gets on his broom…
And immediately falls off.
His expression turns into one of utter confusion and helplessness.
Devastated.
Crushed.
Meanwhile—
Malfoy soars into the air effortlessly, hovering above him, looking down with a mocking smile.
"Well, well, if it isn't the famous Harry Potter. What's wrong? Can't even handle a simple broomstick?"
"Guess your so-called reputation doesn't mean much after all—hahaha!"
And then—
Harry, like a clown, lowers his head in shame, unable to muster the courage to even look up.
——
Malfoy grinned to himself.
If only I could take a picture of that moment!
This plan is absolutely brilliant!
——
Meanwhile…
Harry, of course, had no idea that Malfoy was eagerly plotting his downfall—imagining him making a fool of himself in front of everyone, giving Malfoy the perfect chance to unleash all his pent-up frustration through merciless taunting.
But regardless of Malfoy's scheming, the news of the upcoming Flying Lesson had both Gryffindor and Slytherin buzzing with excitement.
Flying was undeniably an exhilarating subject, not just because of the act itself, but also because it was closely tied to the wizarding world's most popular sport—Quidditch!
——
The Buzz Around Flying Lessons
The hype surrounding flying and Quidditch was unmistakable.
Ever since school started, many first-years had been bragging about their experiences riding broomsticks at home.
And every time someone brought up the topic, a crowd would instantly gather to listen—without fail.
Harry had heard these stories a few times, and after a while, he could only shake his head speechlessly, dragging Hermione away before she got too invested.
Look, I don't mind if you want to impress your classmates and show off a little, but at least make your lies somewhat believable…
——
For example:
Seamus claimed he had been riding broomsticks since he was a child, spending his days soaring through the open fields.
Yeah, right. As if your parents would just let you fly around unsupervised like that.
Ron bragged that he taught himself to fly in secret and once *almost crashed into a ****!
And then there was Malfoy, the undisputed king of exaggerated storytelling.
——
Every time flying came up, Malfoy would act like a seasoned expert.
He would start with the origins of flying, then move on to legendary Quidditch matches, before finally launching into a rant about how unfair it was that first-years weren't allowed to join the school Quidditch teams.
As if all the teachers were blind, unable to recognize his "genius" as a future Quidditch star.
And, of course, he always ended with his most dangerous stunt—
"One time, I nearly collided with a helicopter mid-air!"
——
Excuse me, what?
Ron's story was already pushing it with his near-miss with a ******—
But Malfoy just casually upgraded it to a helicopter?!
——
Still, there was no denying it—
For those who had never flown before, these stories were absolutely fascinating.
And there were plenty of students in that category.
Muggle-borns had never even seen a broomstick fly, and even among wizarding families, many parents didn't allow their children to ride brooms due to safety concerns.
As a result, many of them were no different from Muggles when it came to flying experience.
——
The Anticipation Builds
With Flying Lessons just around the corner, it became the hottest topic among students—
Whether they were in the Great Hall, doing homework, or even in class!
First-years couldn't stop imagining themselves soaring freely through the sky.
——
Meanwhile, the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students had yet to receive their flying schedules.
So for the past few days, they had been looking at the Gryffindors and Slytherins with pure envy.
