The Rebirth of Harry Potter

Chapter 27: Chapter 26: A Mental Breakthrough

Nightfall, Gryffindor Boys' Dormitory.

As soon as the students returned to their dorm, exhaustion from the day's studies quickly knocked them out.

Of course, this was also partly due to their excitement over tomorrow's Flying Lesson, which had kept them buzzing with energy all day long.

Harry couldn't be more satisfied—

Ever since the Flying Lesson announcement had been posted in the Gryffindor Common Room, the first-years had not shut up about it.

Even at night, they would chatter non-stop, their voices filling the dorm with endless gossip and excitement.

This had cost Harry five whole days of meditation.

He couldn't exactly sit in the middle of the dormitory, cross-legged in front of his roommates, and start meditating.

Although no one would mistake it for some kind of strange cult practice, it was still something he preferred to do in private.

Usually, he would wait until everyone had fallen asleep before beginning.

Finally… today, he had the chance!

——

A Deep Dive into Meditation

Harry glanced around.

Once he confirmed that all his roommates were asleep, he pulled off his blanket and quietly sat up.

His posture resembled the traditional Taoist meditation pose—legs crossed, back straight.

Since no one had ever taught him how to do this, Harry relied entirely on his instincts.

And yet, he never felt uncomfortable.

In fact, after every session, he noticed two clear benefits:

His ability to manipulate Light Elements improved. His mind became sharper, making him more alert and focused throughout the day.

This was also why he could memorize books so effortlessly.

——

Hermione's Envy

His near-perfect memory had made Hermione incredibly jealous.

For someone like Hermione—a true academic prodigy—studying was a way of life.

So the idea of being able to remember everything after just one read-through was beyond tempting to her.

Harry had no problem sharing his meditation method with her.

However, whether she could sense Light Elements was another story.

Harry himself wasn't even sure why he could.

Maybe it was his innate talent?

Or maybe his soul was naturally stronger?

After all, even in magical novels, not everyone could become a sorcerer—

Could they?

——

A Breakthrough in the Mind

Tonight, something felt different.

It was as if Harry had reached a bottleneck—

And now, he was on the verge of breaking through.

Excitement filled him.

He had always believed that meditation strengthened the mind, and since his soul was already stronger than most,

Maybe—just maybe—his unique method of meditation could take it even further.

——

Realizing this, Harry calmed his emotions and continued focusing on the Light Elements around him.

He stretched out his mental awareness, as if extending invisible hands to gently feel the floating specks of light.

Currently, he could sense up to dozens of meters away.

However, anything beyond that range felt like a wall he couldn't break through.

——

The Barrier Breaks

But tonight—

He didn't stop.

Instead, he pushed further.

And suddenly—

Something shattered.

Like breaking through an invisible membrane.

A surge of unimaginable comfort washed over him.

At that moment, Harry felt weightless—

Like his body had vanished,

Like his soul was floating in a warm spring,

Like he was being bathed in pure light.

He swore—

This was the most relaxing feeling in the world.

——

If someone had been watching Harry's face just then,

They would've been utterly confused—

Because his expression looked absolutely ridiculous.

——

A Glimpse into a Microscopic World

For a brief second, Harry saw another world.

A microscopic world, filled with vibrant colors.

Tiny, glowing specks floated like fireflies, shimmering through the air.

The white Light Elements rushed toward him like long-lost relatives reuniting.

A soft, gentle radiance enveloped his vision.

——

Then—

The feeling disappeared.

However, something had changed—

Harry's mental range had doubled—

Now stretching nearly fifty meters!

——

Unknowingly Changing

When Harry opened his eyes,

For the briefest moment, a faint glow flashed in his gaze.

His pupils shimmered like luminous pearls in the dark.

But in the next instant, everything returned to normal.

Even Harry himself didn't notice.

All he felt was that, for a split second, everything had seemed unusually bright.

He assumed it was simply his eyes adjusting from the bright world of light back to the darkness of the dormitory.

——

A Hidden Power

What he didn't know was that he had just unlocked a rare phenomenon—

A gaze imbued with spiritual energy.

Only those with extraordinarily powerful mental strength could achieve it.

At that moment, if someone had been standing in front of Harry and met his gaze—

Their mind might've been completely shattered.

They could have been reduced to a drooling idiot.

Although the surge of mental power only lasted for a brief moment, it was still enough for others to notice the change in Harry.

The most obvious sign?

His eyes had become even clearer and brighter—

After all, they say the eyes are the windows to the soul.

——

Restlessness After a Breakthrough

Despite the late hour, Harry felt nowhere near sleepy.

If anything, he was more energized than ever.

His breakthrough had left his mind in a hyper-alert state—sleep simply wasn't an option.

Glancing at his alarm clock, he saw that it was only 1 a.m.

Feeling the chill of the night, he got out of bed and walked to the window.

The cool night breeze brushed against his face as he gazed up at the deep, endless sky.

It was so clear, so bright—

The Milky Way stretched across the heavens like a flowing river of stars.

"The Milky Way, huh…"

His eyes flickered with nostalgia.

Back in the modern world, such a bright night sky was nearly impossible to see.

Since coming to this world, stargazing had become one of his favorite pastimes.

Standing beneath the endless cosmos, he felt just how small he truly was.

The vastness of the universe left him in awe.

——

An Emotional Realization

Harry wiped the corner of his eye, letting out a sigh.

"Ah, youth…"

Then, he suddenly paused.

"Wait a second—did I forget to take my meds today?"

With a wry chuckle, he closed the window slightly, then stood in thought.

After a moment, he decided—

There was no point in trying to sleep.

Instead, he grabbed a third-year Charms textbook, quietly pushed open his dormitory door, and stepped outside.

——

A Grand Entrance

The staircase was dimly lit, torches flickering weakly in the darkness.

As Harry descended, he murmured solemnly:

"Oh, Almighty God of Light—Harry Potter—please grant me the power of illumination!"

(Author's Note: Do you even have any shame?)

At his words, a glowing white orb—about half a meter in diameter—suddenly manifested beside him,

flooding the spiral staircase with radiant light.

——

A Lonely Common Room

Harry settled into the Gryffindor Common Room, but soon regretted it.

There was an unmistakable eerie atmosphere in the air.

He began to question his decision.

"Why didn't I just count sheep if I couldn't sleep?"

Now, he was all alone—in the dead of night—in a dimly lit common room.

Great.

The absolute silence was unsettling.

Even the faint flickering of the torches made it feel like shadows were lurking just behind him.

"No wonder they say people scare themselves to death…"

Trying to distract himself, Harry's gaze fell upon a stack of parchment and a quill on the table.

A mischievous thought crossed his mind.

"Well… Hermione won't mind, right?"

——

A Late-Night Invitation

Harry plucked a sheet of parchment and quickly scribbled:

"Hermione, I'm in the Gryffindor Common Room waiting for you. —Harry."

At the bottom, he added a familiar symbol—the Olympic Rings.

This was a secret only he and Hermione knew.

Once, when Harry was bored, he had doodled circles all over Hermione's book.

In the end, he ignored her protests and turned it into the Olympic logo.

So now, whenever Hermione saw this symbol, she'd immediately know it was from him.

Harry folded the letter into a paper crane, then tapped it with his wand.

The crane fluttered to life, flapping its wings as it soared toward the girls' dormitory, disappearing inside…

——

Hermione's Dream

At that moment, Hermione was deep in a dream.

She dreamed they were in Astronomy class, observing Orion's Belt under the professor's guidance.

She sneaked a glance at Harry, but he caught her staring and grinned at her.

Hermione's face turned bright red, but Harry simply stepped toward her without saying a word.

——

"W-What are you doing?"

She felt a little guilty for some reason.

Without warning, Harry lifted his hand—

And smacked her forehead.

——

Hermione was stunned.

Before she could react—

SMACK!

Another hit!

Hermione shot awake, eyes wide.

She sat up in bed, grumbling,

"Did I seriously just dream about Harry? Ugh! Of all people!"

Still half-asleep, she muttered,

"That dream felt way too real… my forehead still hurts."

——

A Midnight Summon

Just then—

SMACK! SMACK!

Something tapped her forehead again.

Startled, she looked up—

A paper crane hovered in front of her.

Her eyes widened.

"A Paper Crane Messenger Charm?! But that's third-year magic!"

Although confused, she already had a good idea of who had sent it…

She unfolded the note, read its contents—

And let out a sigh of exasperation.

"Seriously… at this hour?"

But even as she grumbled, she got out of bed anyway.

——

At first, she considered changing her clothes.

But after a moment of thought, she decided it wasn't necessary—

So, still dressed in her red pajamas, she quietly made her way downstairs…
