Chapter 143: CHAPTER 141
Just spitting out a cloud of air wasn't enough. The power of a dragon isn't so easy to master, and it seems Rebecca still has a long way to go.
Alastor didn't need to interrupt her further and instead landed on the ground, taking the opportunity to check on Onimaru and Sai's progress.
"Lord Alastor," the two called out simultaneously.
Onimaru's tone was filled with utmost respect, while Sai's was casual, the difference in their personalities obvious.
Alastor first turned his attention to Sai and said, "It seems your boy has finally awakened his Conqueror's Haki. You've finally lived up to my expectations. I'd say you've probably surpassed Chinjao now, haven't you?"
Sai beamed with pride. "I've already surpassed that old man!"
At his peak, Chinjao had a bounty exceeding 500 million Berries. It was safe to say Sai had probably reached a similar level by now. In the New World, a region filled with powerful figures, he could be considered one of the top-tier pirates.
Alastor then turned his gaze to Onimaru. Compared to the skinny boy from the samurai school, Onimaru had grown tremendously. Though not as physically imposing as Alastor, his muscles were strong and powerful, and his presence seemed much more commanding.
The black blade, Shisui, hanging from his waist now felt like an extension of his very being.
Alastor couldn't help but think of Roronoa Zoro. Even though Zoro hailed from the same Frost Moon Clan, his path was different. Thanks to the butterfly effect of Alastor's influence, the Straw Hat crew hadn't ventured to Wano. Instead, they had gone to the Revolutionary Army's headquarters, where they encountered Rayleigh. Most likely, Rayleigh had recognized the Straw Hat's destiny and taken them under his wing.
As for Zoro, Alastor guessed he was currently honing his swordsmanship under Hawkeye's guidance. Both Zoro and Onimaru were descendants of the Frost Moon Clan, but Onimaru's lineage was purer. His connection to Ryuma, the Sword God, gave him an edge Zoro didn't have.
Alastor wondered what kind of sparks would fly when these two eventual rivals—Onimaru and Zoro—met in the future.
Turning his attention back to Onimaru and Sai, Alastor smiled and said, "You two, let me see your current strength."
Sai chuckled and picked up his naginata. "Master Alastor, you'd better be careful, or you'll be the one embarrassed!"
Onimaru calmly drew his sword.
Sai charged forward, his naginata raised. Reaching a certain distance, he thrust the weapon into the ground, then used his armored, dominantly strengthened right foot to deliver a powerful kick.
"Hasshoken Boxing Technique · Cone Dragon Cone Nail · Five Finger Heel!"
The Hasshoken had a long history, and the Cone Dragon Nail technique was well-known for strengthening a specific body part. For Sai, it was his right foot. His flying kick could shatter bones with ease.
Faced with such an attack, Alastor simply threw a punch.
Boom!
Their fists and feet collided, sending shockwaves rippling across the ground, lifting stones into the air.
Alastor remained unmoved, standing still as Sai stumbled backward, clutching his red foot.
"Hoo hoo, it hurts so much! Mr. Alastor, what are your fists made of? They're not even armed! Plus, you're using our Eight Fist moves. That's too shameless! You've stolen our technique!"
Alastor sneered. "Don't make excuses for being inferior. What happened to your confidence just now, Sai?"
As Sai rubbed his foot, a cold glint of steel flashed from the left.
Alastor's eyes narrowed, turning sideways at the last moment and narrowly avoiding the attack. His smile remained intact as he addressed Sai.
Turning to Onimaru, he commented, "That sneaky, shadowy swordsmanship is good at finding angles, but my Haki allows me to see through it clearly."
Without pause, Alastor flicked his finger at Onimaru, the movement so fast it left an afterimage in the air.
"Lightning Finger Gun!"
Alastor, using Thunderbolt Speed, thought this attack would be a sure hit. He anticipated needing to hold back some force at the end, but he never expected Onimaru to dodge it as well.
"Huh?"
Alastor raised an eyebrow in surprise.
Onimaru explained, a bit shyly, "It's my snake-like sense of touch that makes my Observation Haki extremely sensitive to dangerous auras."
Alastor suddenly realized, a smile forming on his face. He was genuinely happy to see Onimaru's growth.
Since then, on the small island of Greenbit, Rebecca has been practicing her heat breath in mid-air, while Alastor tests the strength of Onimaru and Sai, training both of them simultaneously.
The Heart Pirates and the small group of people watched in bewilderment.
After half a day...
Trafalgar Law, Viola, and Leo returned from Dressrosa and informed Alastor about Doflamingo's move to summon his men.
Alastor was a bit surprised but quickly smiled and said with a smirk, "Looks like Doflamingo sensed the crisis and made preparations. That's good. It'll save me from having to hold back. I'll catch them all at once without affecting more civilians."
In fact, with Alastor's current strength, dealing with Doflamingo didn't require much effort. A one-on-one encounter would be enough to crush him. The reason Alastor had been staying on Greenbit, instead of dealing with Doflamingo head-on, was to avoid drawing too much attention. Exposing himself would jeopardize his plans of controlling Dressrosa, especially given his status as a criminal wanted by the world government.
Alastor had intended to let Law and Viola gather information, but now, thanks to Doflamingo's precautions and assembling his forces at the King's Highland, Alastor saw an opportunity. Moving the entire King's Highland away from Dressrosa was now possible.
However, the King's Highland was akin to a mountain, and relocating it wasn't something Law could accomplish alone. Yet, at that moment, Alastor couldn't help but glance up at the pink dragon flying in the sky. Rebecca was still struggling to master her heat breath, but that didn't matter. A flame cloud, even if weaker than Kaido's, could still lift the King's Highland.
Alastor had spent considerable effort helping Rebecca develop her Devil Fruit abilities, and now, they were about to pay off.
"Let's act immediately and give Doflamingo a big surprise!"
What surprise?
The surprise is that danger approaches, but they don't see it coming.
Though Doflamingo was arrogant, he was also highly cautious and intelligent. He had set up precautions, including monitoring the waters around Dressrosa and observing who came from Greenbit.
Soon, his subordinates reported that members of the underground world from Greenbit were gathering, along with unfamiliar outsiders. Doflamingo became instantly wary, but before he could get more information, the messenger was killed.
Doflamingo's eyes narrowed. "Could it be that lunatic again? I didn't provoke him!"
A heavy killing intent filled the air as Doflamingo clenched his fists. No one would treat him like a fool.
"Could it be Law?" Diamanti wondered. "No, Violet couldn't be so bold."
But Doflamingo knew better. The fear of Alastor loomed over him. If it were indeed Law, he wasn't confident his cadres could handle him. Doflamingo hesitated—should he strike now, or wait to confirm the threat?
Meanwhile, Doflamingo noticed something strange in the sky. The clouds were denser and whiter than usual.
"Not good, could it be...?"
Doflamingo's mind raced. "No, it's not a thundercloud—it's just ordinary white clouds."
Yet, his fear only deepened. The memory of Alastor's terrifying form on the rooftop haunted him.
Rumble!
Suddenly, the ground beneath Doflamingo trembled violently. The shaking grew worse by the second.
"An earthquake?!" Pica's voice cracked. "We're not in the earthquake zone! Why is this happening?"
Members of the Don Quixote family outside the palace were now screaming in panic.
"Something's wrong! The King's Highland—it's rising into the sky!"
Doflamingo rushed to the window, his heart sinking. The entire King's Highland, upon which the royal palace was built, had lifted from Dressrosa and was floating into the air.
"What's going on?!" Doflamingo shouted, his mind racing with dread.
