Chapter 144: CHAPTER 142
"I saw it!" Doflamingo's face was extremely grim.
"What? The King's Highland is flying?"
Hearing this, Trebol, Pika, and the others hurried to the window. They saw the entire King's Highland rising into the air, with Dressrosa town below shrinking rapidly, indicating the highland was ascending at an alarming rate.
This sudden sight stunned the previously cocky cadres, who had been laughing with arrogance just moments ago. How could someone lift a mountain-sized structure into the sky? It was beyond comprehension and sent waves of terror through them.
Doflamingo roared furiously in his heart: "What kind of power is this? Even someone like Kaido wouldn't be capable of this!"
To lift something as massive as a mountain was beyond human strength.
The King's Highland continued rising rapidly, initially shaking violently, but soon stabilizing. It eventually came to rest high above the clouds. Below, Dressrosa was entirely obscured, hidden beneath the dense cloud cover. The people of Dressrosa couldn't even see the Highland anymore.
With the highland suspended, Doflamingo finally felt he could act. He wanted to see who was responsible for this.
"Who the hell is it? Get out of here!"
His voice echoed through the clouds, demanding answers.
Buzzing and churning of the clouds followed, and a massive creature emerged from the mist. Doflamingo's eyes widened as he stared, his body freezing in shock. Cold sweat poured down his face.
Before him stood a giant dragon.
Doflamingo, known for his arrogance and cruelty, now felt an unprecedented fear. His confidence shattered in the presence of this creature.
Is this… Kaido?
Kaido's fruit ability was legendary. Few in the world of Pirates didn't know of the infamous "strongest creature" who could transform into a dragon.
Doflamingo had encountered Kaido before, but none of his previous encounters had evoked this level of fear. Kaido's domineering presence was unmatched, far beyond anything Doflamingo had ever experienced.
He wasn't afraid of heaven or earth, but Kaido was different. The mere thought of crossing paths with Kaido sent shivers down his spine.
Doflamingo took a step back instinctively, his mind racing. Why would Kaido appear here? They had maintained a relatively cooperative relationship. Had Kaido been deceiving him?
Panic set in. If Kaido decided to act against him, there was almost no chance of survival.
Later, Trebol, Diamanti, and the other Don Quixote family members emerged from the palace. Seeing the giant dragon, they gasped in shock, screaming:
"Kaido?!"
Like Doflamingo, they all recognized the creature as Kaido. After all, who else could claim to be a dragon in this world?
"Master Kaido lifted the King's Highland into the clouds!"
"Why would Lord Kaido do this? Are we no longer working together?"
"Could it be that our cooperative relationship has broken down? We've been producing Smile Fruits all this time!"
Confusion and panic spread among the Don Quixote pirates. Kaido's name was enough to obliterate any shred of confidence they had.
Doflamingo swallowed hard and forced himself to remain calm. He had always respected Kaido and had never knowingly offended him.
"Kaido… Mr. Kaido," Doflamingo spoke, his voice trembling slightly, "What is it you want? Have I done something to displease you?"
The giant dragon's piercing eyes stared at Doflamingo with cold intensity. When its massive mouth opened, it revealed a feminine voice.
"Doflamingo, you who caused Dressrosa's suffering and killed my mother, I will destroy you today!"
"Hot breath!"
The dragon exhaled, attempting to breathe fire, but only a cloud of white smoke emerged instead.
This strange scene left Doflamingo and the Don Quixote family members dumbfounded, standing frozen in shock.
Huh?
How could the dragon have a girl's voice, and it couldn't even breathe fire? This couldn't be Kaido!
After a brief moment of disbelief, Doflamingo's face darkened to a shade darker than the bottom of a pot, his brows furrowed with rage and frustration.
He had been tricked—completely deceived! How could he have been so careless, fooled by the calm tone earlier?
Doflamingo was beside himself with fury. He had never felt so humiliated before.
He glared at the dragon, which now looked distinctly different—its body was pink instead of blue, much smaller than Kaido's dragon, which he had failed to notice before.
"Bastard! Who are you, and how dare you play me like this!" Doflamingo's voice was filled with murderous intent.
"Tsk, back to your old arrogant tone, I see. Are you so scared of Boss Kaido?"
A sneering voice echoed from above the dragon's head.
Doflamingo quickly turned his gaze upward, his expression darkening further. Then, his eyes narrowed as he hissed, "It really is you… Thunder Calamity Alastor!"
Whoosh whoosh!
Hundreds of figures began descending from the dragon's back—fighters from the Fur Tribe, the small human tribe, and members of the Heart Pirates.
Doflamingo's gaze fell on one figure in particular.
"And you, Trafalgar Law! So it's true—both of you colluded together!"
Law stepped forward, his demon sword resting casually on his shoulder, his gaze fixed coldly on Doflamingo.
"Ah, I've come back to collect, Monsieur Corazon."
Doflamingo's laughter was sharp and bitter.
"Hey, hey, Law, don't think you're some evil supernova, so you can talk to me like that! In my eyes, you're still just a brat!"
Law's expression remained composed as he slowly drew his sword.
"It's true I'm not strong enough to defeat you now. I had planned to wait at least two more years before confronting you. But fate has other plans. You've done too much evil, Doflamingo. I'm not the only one who wants you dead."
Doflamingo's mouth twisted in annoyance.
"If it were just you, Law, I wouldn't care. But he…" Doflamingo's eyes flicked toward Alastor, his voice filled with contempt. "That madman…"
Alastor continued walking toward Doflamingo, step by step, each movement accompanied by a crackling thunder beneath his feet.
Doflamingo's tone became venomous. "Alastor, I've already informed Mr. Kaido about you. You think you can fight me without consequences? Think again!"
Alastor smiled, his expression calm and defiant.
"Boss Kaido's anger is certainly terrifying, but I'm not you. When I hear his name, I don't pee in fear."
Doflamingo shuddered, realizing the recklessness of Alastor's confidence.
This man… was truly a lunatic.
"If things continue like this, Kaido will deal with him and Law later," Doflamingo thought, his frustration mounting. "But for now, there's only one way forward—fight!"
"Foot Thread Shave!"
Doflamingo attacked first, launching into battle with relentless fury, aiming to silence Alastor and Law.
"Why are you siding with them?" Doflamingo growled, unleashing threads of his power. "I didn't offend you. If you're going to go mad, go fight the Navy or the world government!"
"Because I want to represent justice and destroy evil," Alastor responded with a smile, unfazed.
Doflamingo roared, his eyes filled with rage. "What nonsense are you spouting? You're just a pirate!"
"Can't pirates represent justice too?" Alastor pointed skyward, his smile growing.
"Victory is justice, Doflamingo. I'm here to punish you. What are you going to do about it?"
Boom!
A beam of lightning and thunder descended from the sky, striking down with divine authority.
Doflamingo believed in the law of the jungle, seeing the people of Dressrosa as his toys, slaves to produce Smile Fruits. In this regard, he was similar to Kaido, who envisioned the world under his control.
However, while Kaido pursued his dream of a pirate world, Doflamingo was more concerned with his personal rise to power, proud of his ties with the Celestial Dragons.
Alastor had nothing but disdain for such a man.
