Chapter 145: CHAPTER 143
A massive thunderbolt descended from the sky, crashing into Doflamingo with the force of divine punishment. The explosion of light and sound was deafening, but as the smoke cleared, Doflamingo emerged, bruised but alive.
He dusted himself off, his lips curling into a dark smirk. "Impressive, but you'll need more than that. Did you forget? My body is made of threads—an excellent insulator against lightning."
His resilience, born from his mastery of the String-String Fruit (Ito Ito no Mi), was undeniable. Still, it was clear from his heavy breathing and trembling hands that the damage was taking its toll.
Doflamingo retaliated instantly. "Foot Thread: Shave!" he yelled, launching a razor-sharp thread-laden kick toward Alastor's side. The attack, capable of slicing through steel and even meteorites, struck true.
But when the threads connected with Alastor's skin, they barely grazed him, leaving only shallow marks.
"What?! Impossible!" Doflamingo's eyes widened in disbelief.
Alastor's expression didn't change. "You thought your strings would be enough? Pathetic."
Doflamingo gritted his teeth. He had heard rumors of Alastor's unparalleled defense—his body capable of withstanding explosions and other deadly assaults—but seeing it firsthand was a different story.
Without wasting a moment, Alastor activated his unique ability. His body glowed faintly as he enhanced the activity of his cells, boosting his speed and strength. A black flame, swirling with ominous energy, enveloped his fist as he charged forward.
"Too slow." Alastor's voice was calm, but his movements were deadly.
Sensing the danger, Doflamingo used his threads to hook onto a nearby building, pulling himself away with immense speed.
But Alastor's foot crackled with lightning as he vanished in a blur, appearing right in front of Doflamingo. "You can't run," he said, driving his flaming fist forward.
"So fast!" Doflamingo barely managed to block the punch with his arms coated in Armament Haki (Busoshoku Haki).
Boom!
The sheer force of the blow sent Doflamingo hurtling through the air. He crashed through multiple buildings, his body finally coming to rest amid the rubble.
Coughing up blood, he examined his arms. Burn marks marred his skin despite the protection of his Haki. "Even my Armament Haki can't fully block that flame... What is this power?"
"You don't have time to wonder," Alastor said, his voice cold and unyielding. "Hesitate, and I'll take your head in the next second."
Alastor closed the distance in an instant, his fists raining down with relentless ferocity. The black flames surrounding his punches roared with heat, consuming everything in their path.
Doflamingo raised his hands desperately. "Spider Web!" he shouted, weaving a massive, dense barrier of threads to protect himself.
But the flames devoured the threads with ease, rendering his defense useless.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Each of Alastor's punches landed with the force of a cannonball, shattering Doflamingo's attempts to counter. Blood splattered across the battlefield as Doflamingo was pummeled mercilessly.
The Donquixote family members watched in horror as their "Young Master" was overwhelmed.
"How is this possible?!" one of them gasped. "The Young Master is invincible!"
"But look at him now..." whispered another, fear gripping their voice.
Even the top executives, who had seen countless battles, couldn't believe their eyes.
Diamante, the commander of the Diamante Army, clenched his fists. "I can't just stand by and watch Dover fall!"
Diamante charged toward the fight, hoping to tip the scales. But before he could get close, a massive pink dragon descended from the sky, cutting him off.
"Rebecca?" Diamante's voice quivered as he stared at the dragon before him.
"Yes, it's me, you coward!" Rebecca roared, her voice echoing with fury. Her enormous dragon body loomed over Diamante, flames licking the corners of her mouth.
The sight sent a shiver down Diamante's spine. "Impossible... You were nothing but a weak girl!"
Rebecca's eyes burned with anger. "Do you remember what you did, Diamante? The night you murdered my mother, Scarlett?" Her voice trembled, but not with fear—with righteous rage.
Diamante scoffed, though his confidence faltered. "So what if I do? She was weak, just like you."
Rebecca let out a deafening roar, the force of her anger sending shockwaves through the battlefield. "You'll pay for what you've done! For my mother, for Dressrosa, for everyone you've hurt!"
With that, Rebecca lunged at Diamante, her claws slicing through the air with deadly precision.
Back at the main battlefield, Doflamingo was on his last legs. Blood poured from his wounds, his strength rapidly fading. Despite his defiance, he couldn't keep up with Alastor's relentless assault.
"Any last words, Doflamingo?" Alastor asked, his flaming fist poised for the final strike.
Doflamingo gritted his teeth, summoning every ounce of his willpower. "Don't think this is over! The New World... doesn't belong to you!"
Alastor's fist came down like a meteor, engulfing Doflamingo in a storm of flames and thunder.
When the smoke cleared, the once-feared Heavenly Yaksha lay motionless, defeated at last.
Rebecca, in her massive dragon form, charged at Diamanti with unrelenting fury. Her claws scraped the ground as she lunged, but Diamanti leaped to the side with practiced agility.
Once he confirmed her identity, a cruel grin spread across his face. "Jiehahaha! Rebecca? You've turned into a dragon? What did you do, eat a Zoan-type Devil Fruit? What a waste! Even with a dragon's body, you're still just trash, just like you've always been!"
Diamanti, one of the top officers of the Donquixote Family, was unimpressed. Despite Rebecca's transformation, he viewed her as nothing more than the frightened girl who used to wield a sword in desperation.
"Let's see what you've got, princess!" he sneered, drawing his blade.
"Sword Art: Long Sword!"
His blade elongated unnaturally, a testament to his powers from the Flag-Flag Fruit (Hira Hira no Mi), which allowed him to manipulate steel like fabric. He swung the extended blade toward Rebecca's scaled body.
Clang!
The blade struck her dragon scales, sparks flying from the impact, but it failed to penetrate.
"Tch," Diamanti muttered, his grin faltering for a moment. "Your skin's tougher than I expected. No matter—I'll find a weak spot."
Rebecca roared, her massive jaws snapping shut inches from Diamanti.
"Bullfighting Cape!" Diamanti shouted, raising his steel-infused cape as a shield.
But Rebecca's dragon teeth proved far superior. She shredded the steel cape with ease, forcing Diamanti to retreat in a panic.
"Damn it!" Diamanti hissed, narrowly avoiding her claws as she swiped again. While his agility kept him out of her immediate reach, he struggled to inflict meaningful damage.
Realizing brute force wasn't working, Diamanti resorted to his favorite tactic: psychological warfare.
"Jiehahaha! Still clinging to that grudge, huh? About your mother, Scarlett? Do you even know the full story? Let me enlighten you!" His mocking laughter echoed through the battlefield.
Rebecca's eyes flared with anger, her dragon body trembling.
"Don't you dare—" she growled, her voice thick with pain.
"Oh, I dare," Diamanti interrupted, his voice dripping with malice. "Your mother, the proud princess of Dressrosa, reduced to scavenging for scraps of bread. She looked like a beggar, crawling in the dirt for you! It was pathetic!"
Rebecca roared in anguish, her claws gouging the earth. "Stop it! Don't say another word!"
"Why should I?" Diamanti continued with relish. "I killed her myself, you know. Shot her down like a dog! And then, I stepped on that precious bread she was clutching. What a waste of effort!"
Rebecca's heart ached with every word, but her pain began to transform into something else: rage.
While she was consumed with emotion, Diamanti smirked and crept closer, his blade aimed at her vulnerable dragon eyes.
"Let me end this," he sneered. "I'll blind you first—then maybe I'll finish you off. You'll be just like your mother: helpless!"
He lunged, his elongated blade striking toward her eye.
Just before the blade made contact, Rebecca's eyes snapped shut, her thick dragon eyelids deflecting the attack.
"What?!" Diamanti recoiled in shock.
When Rebecca's eyes reopened, they were cold, filled with unrelenting fury. Her body began to glow, a fiery light emanating from her chest. The heat intensified, and her abdomen turned a molten red as if a fireball was forming inside her.
Diamanti's smirk disappeared. "What's this?!"
Rebecca opened her jaws wide, and with a deafening roar, she unleashed a fiery torrent.
"Heat Breath!"
The pillar of fire engulfed Diamanti in an instant, the searing heat so intense it melted the steel objects he used for defense.
"No! Impossible! How can a weakling like you—" Diamanti's screams were cut short as the flames consumed him completely.
The blazing fire left a massive charred crater in its wake. When the flames dissipated, there was no trace of Diamanti. The top officer of the Donquixote Family had been reduced to nothing but ash.
The battlefield fell silent for a moment as the remaining officers of the Donquixote Family registered what had just happened.
"Diamanti... he's gone," Pica said, his voice trembling.
"That dragon... it's too strong!" Trebol stammered, sweat dripping from his face.
But there was no time for mourning or strategizing. Two attackers closed in on them.
Pica dodged an incoming attack from Onimaru, the fox-like swordsman.
"Shimonuki One Sword Style: Black Snake!" Onimaru's blade struck with deadly precision, forcing Pica to retreat underground.
Meanwhile, Trebol found himself locked in combat with Sai.
"Eight Impact Fist: Wu Heel!" Sai shouted, his iron-hard foot smashing into Trebol's chest.
Trebol stumbled, his sticky mucus body rippling from the impact. He quickly reformed, glaring at Sai.
"You think that'll work on me? Sticky, sticky!" Trebol retorted, shooting blobs of viscous liquid toward Sai.
"Disgusting!" Sai spun his naginata, blocking the sticky projectiles with disdain. "I'm taking you down before I throw up!"
The chaos of the battlefield continued to grow, but one thing was clear: the Donquixote Family was crumbling. Their top executives were being overwhelmed, and Doflamingo himself was locked in a losing battle against Alastor.
The tides of Dressrosa's rebellion had turned, and vengeance for Scarlett was finally at hand.
