After receiving his deposit back, Kanzaki Ryoma left Antique and headed straight for Kamii University.

Yoshimura Kuzen watched him go, saying nothing.

He knew what fate awaited a human who got too close to Kamishiro Rize.

But that wasn't his concern.

As a ghoul who had long abandoned his predatory ways, Yoshimura no longer wished to harm humans. However, that didn't mean he was willing to put himself at risk for a complete stranger.

He had taken the same stance with Kaneki Ken in the original timeline. When Kaneki was captured by Aogiri Tree, Yoshimura refused to intervene—until later, when circumstances forced his hand.

But his decision to save Kaneki had ultimately accelerated both his own downfall and the destruction of Antique.

So whether he decides to interferes or not isn't his concern.

Less than thirty minutes later, Ryoma arrived at Kamii University.

Since it was his first day on campus, he was unfamiliar with the layout. He had to rely on the school's signs to find his way around.

According to the information the system had provided him, he was a student in the Department of Literature. His schedule was set—he simply needed to attend classes as required.

Since he was technically a freshman, no one would question the presence of a new student in the classroom.

With no pressure to stand out, Ryoma simply attended his lectures, taking notes and listening attentively.

At the moment, he didn't know any of his classmates, so he kept to himself, focusing on reviewing his studies after class.

After all, even someone like Kamijou Touma from A Certain Magical Index still had to attend school properly despite all his supernatural troubles.

The morning passed quickly, and by noon, Ryoma's classes were over.

Japanese universities typically had only about four hours of lectures per day for first- and second-year students, with even fewer in the later years. That was why Kaneki Ken had so much free time to visit Antique in the original story.

For now, Ryoma had the rest of the day to himself.

His plan was simple—grab lunch at the university cafeteria, then head to Antique to meet up with Kamishiro Rize, as promised.

After picking up his meal, Ryoma spent some time searching for an empty seat. The cafeteria was packed, but he eventually found an unoccupied four-person table.

Just as he started eating, someone approached him.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?"

Looking up, Ryoma saw a boy around his age.

The stranger had delicate, almost feminine facial features, with a beauty mark just below his right eye. His friendly smile made him appear harmless.

But Ryoma instantly recognized him.

Furuta Nimura.

At this point in time, Furuta was still attending Kamii University under the alias "Furuta Nimura," playing the role of an ordinary student.

But Ryoma knew better.

This man was no ordinary student.

Furuta was already working for the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) while simultaneously spying on Kamishiro Rize. It was highly likely that he had already begun setting up the infamous "construction site steel beam accident."

At most, Furuta was pretending to be a bystander while keeping an eye on him.

For now, neither of them would make a move.

Ryoma arrived at Antique as planned.

Kamishiro Rize was already there, waiting for him.

But what caught his attention wasn't Rize—it was someone sitting nearby.

A thin, unassuming young man with dark hair, neatly styled like a model student. He held a copy of The Black Goat's Egg in his hands, his eyes glued to the pages.

Kaneki Ken.

Ryoma wasn't surprised to see him here.

At this point in time, Kaneki had a deep admiration for Rize. Whenever he had free time, he would come to Antique just to catch glimpses of her.

He likely hadn't been here yesterday because of his schedule.

Ryoma ignored him and walked straight to Rize.

"Sorry, Rize-san, did I keep you waiting?"

Since they were students of the same age, calling her "Rize-san" felt most appropriate.

Rize gave him a warm smile. "No, I just got here too."

Kaneki, who had been reading, immediately froze.

His eyes darted toward the two of them.

Something felt… off.

That beautiful, charming girl seemed unusually close to that guy.

Kaneki was no longer paying attention to his book. Though he held it in his hands, his eyes kept sneaking glances at Ryoma and Rize.

Then, Rize casually suggested something unexpected.

"By the way, do you have any plans this afternoon?" she asked. "If not, why don't we go on a date? I've heard that spending time together is important for strengthening relationships."

"That sounds great," Ryoma answered smoothly.

Kaneki's world shattered.

A date? A couple?

That beautiful girl was already someone's girlfriend?!

His grip on the book tightened.

His heart sank.
